1. I never said I didn't respect "the shit." I actually have a lot of respect
for them as musicians. I just don't like them.
2. See the above for the Grateful Dead, except for the musicanship part. I
respect the Dead in the way they bucked music industry conventions. But
musically I would take Phish over the Dead any day.
3. If you had one to eat, I'd bring the ketchup.

btw, I just got back from the post-office. I had to pick up LTE 1 and
Mullmuzzler. I'm listening to Mullmuzzler as I'm writing this. So far, so
good! Except for "Beelzebubba" :-))). Nobody seems to like that track! I
listened to Platypus all day long yesterday (err, well, Platypus +
Dickinson's The Chemical Wedding and... umm, Symbolic by Death :.-)) and I
like it alot. It's not DT, it's not King's X but rather a nice mixture of
both worlds...
Okay, I need some more recommendation... I already ordered Trans-Siberian
Orchestra but I've also read some nice reviews on amazon.com about Vitalij
Kuprij. He has 3 albums out, and on each he has a different guitarist. I
listened to some samples and I do like it... If anyone would care to
elaborate on his work, just go ahead! I've also heard that his work with
Artension is also amazing... supposedly, "Forces of Nature" is a
masterpiece.

As far as I can make out, that's a very sort of general background story
for what's going on in the music - not having read the Silmarillion, I
don't know if they've taken parts of chapters from a translated version or
whatnot, but it's definitely a little background info. However, the
background info only does you some good unless you have MORE background
information from having read at least some Tolkien before. :) So in that
sense I don't know how it fulfills a function of background info, but oh
well. It's very cool, pretty well-written stuff. I translated it for some
people (hey Luke) so if you want a translation into English let me know.

I agree will Al (and you have entered the Twilight Zone)... but! there
is one thing that will be of note to jammers in particular:
While the Panasonics now offer 24 or some odd hours of play time on a
pair of AA's, *and* while they have pretty much indestructable
construction *and* while they have damn fine skip protection, the
compression scheme the model I have (SL230, an older new model) added
distortion to the keyboards on Divine Wings Of tragedy -- it was
sob-worthy.
It looks like the mp3 discman is using the same innards (i.e., laser
tracks and such) as the Panasonic. That might be the next big purchase
for fans of long plane trips and car rides.

TSO is supposed to be on some Xmas TV special on the 14th (Tuesday) No
clue what station. I am going to WCW Nitro Monday. Kick ass! Just had to

On another note, I got a new DT boot in, the Lost Paris tapes. Its a
silver CD, I know, I did the unthinkable and paid 24.99 for it, but I
wanted it really bad. Came all the way from Belgium. Whoever did the
thing fucked up bad. The case is fine, teh CD reads Dream Thaether. No
joke.
Mike,
was that just James messing up at the end of Cover My Eyes, or just
fuckin around? I had to let out a chuckle at the end from your comments.
The songs that didn't make the live CD were really good to. It seems
James voice sounds better before the producing process went through. Any
thoughts why?

I've just bought a SONY D-E445.
It has a second-generation ESP, so I can shake it and shake it and shake
it, but still it works fine. It also has megabass-groove effects. They
supply two rechargeable batteries, and I really like that it has an
RemoteControl.
I dont use AVLS though.:)))))
Its a pitty that they supply earphones instead of headphones, because I
prefer fuckin huge headphones, but Oh well... Nothing's perfect...
And the price... it was round 150 bux here in .hu

the greatful dead were horrible.. period dot com.. you might like em and
that's fine, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it was really a
horrible band. i grew up around them.. donna jean was pretty much my mom
(her son was and is my best friend) so i was inundated by the music and the
people arround the music and i can safely say that they all suck .. the
studio stuff was decent cause they could edit, but live you gotta be on acid
not to notice how much they fuck up. NEVER EVER did i hear them once play
anything straight up.. always fucked up everything, and not on purpose..
they just would lose tempo and miss chord changes and shit all over their
music.. they blew

Ben,
I was one of the first to order his video from hudson Music. I was going
to make sure I got it signed!!! it is a really good video!!! I got his
Prog Concept video two days before I got his new one and I like his new
one alot better because he plays ALOT of songs... Being a two video set
he can afford the time to... Then he goes in depth into different fills
and odd time phrasings... I breaks down his fills note by note and it
turned my double bass technique around coniderably! i was working through
a book written by Steve "Doc" Wacholz of Savatage that he gave me before
it was finished and it is good but he starts evrything out on his left
foot and I felt odd doing that.. whereas Virgil Donati and MP both say to
do what feels comfy and they both use their right feet...
Anyway, it is a great vid with a whole lot of amazing home video footage
of LTE and some good FII concert footage...

I have to say this.....As much as I love the band I don't see the reason for bringing out another live album. I mean didn't they release the 'digitally remastered re-whatever' virsion of all their disks? And pulse was a very good album specialy with the live DSOM still gives me goosebumps...but after waiting for ....oh six years I was actually hoping for a studio album from them. I mean right after 'Momentary Lapse' they had Delicate Sounds and I thoght the mixing in that album was horrible. Then 'bout four years after that came Division Bell followed by Pulse. I was dissapointed to see almost the same ('cept for the new songs) songs in the album as DC but as the sound q was really good, still love it. but now, again another one.
I can understand a lot of people not liking PF. As for me, right after Run like hell' I do not listen to the disk 2 at all. its' just too gloomy and negative, even when one's not paying attention to the music.
Just think Gilmour should start making music then planning on cash out on past albums

Greg, i think your idea is brilliant. We "fellow ytsejammers" would have the best time at a good concert if we were united, if i may speak for the rest of ytsejam d.. An organized way of meeting for a night of musical ecstasy, like you describe is exactly what we could use. I'm behind you in any way possible, and i encourage other ytsejammers to support this idea...
