Hello,

I just received my replica of the Seven Wonders MP3 disc from Ryan at
Scarred Records. Since it is a replica, I didn't get any artwork --
just the cdr. If anyone has the time, it would be extremely appreciated
if you could email me scans of the artwork, as I would like to recreate
the finished product as best as I can. Thanks in advance!

it seems that we may be getting some stuff like LTE with Keneally, Levin
and Bozzio, that would be cool...very different but cool.....

]From Keneally's website (http://www.moosenet.com/keneally.html)
"Some of you may have heard about some other projects in the offing. Some
of these are far from concrete: just two days ago I had my first official
talk with Adrian Belew regarding a collaboration at some point. We're both
up for it when there's time. A trio album with me, Terry Bozzio and Tony
Levin has been proposed by Magna Carta but schedules are still being
coordinated for that. There will be another Vai tour this year - I will
once again be in Steve's band, and the plan is for BFD to open a number of
the dates. Ian Anderson, who I recently had a very lengthy and entertaining
phone conversation with, would like BFD to open about a month's worth of
dates for Jethro Tull this year, and heck, so would I; hopefully the Tull
and Vai schedules will coexist happily. Congratulations, big time, go out
to Jason Harrison Smith - Ian was so taken with Jason's playing when we
opened for Tull last year that Jason was flown to England to do some
recording with Ian and other members of Tull."

Okay, I want to get tht LTE video out to you guys but I have to make a few points before I get some time to start setting up trades.

1) The LTE show at NAMM was a "shorter" set because it was NAMM. The show is around 45 minutes. I haven't heard a CD-R of an LTE show, but I'm sure that will provide a great audio experience of the FULL LTE show. 2) I have now been able to watch the whole show and I have to let anyone interested know: The camcorder (original) tape has about 3 "blips" in it. The sound cuts out for maybe 1/4 of a second during these blips. I don't know why it does this because I was borrowing the camcorder. It really isn't an AWFUL blip, but I wanted to let you know. Since it is on the original, it will always be on any copy made. 3) In just 24 hours I have received SO MANY REQUESTS that I'm not sure I can make EVERYONE a copy. And if I manage to make a copy for EVERYONE that wants one, some people may have to wait awhile.

Anyone know how long you can record on a VCR before it dies? :oP

I need to correct you on this one. Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" was released in 1973 on Virgin Records. The number I have is: 7 90589-1 The beginning of that song was used in the movie "The Exorcist" That movie was released in 73 or 74. I have an original mint copy on vinyl. Hi there once again. Longa tempora non-video :)

>There is a Tubular Bells I , but it was released in 1937 or thereabouts. >I don't have it.

Hmph. I guess you meant 1973. Anyway, I have it and I like it a lot. There's some excellent music and some funny little things like the Piltdown Man. When I first heard it I though something like "What's this? Some death metal cookie monster of the 70s?"

>oh, and i passed up a disc by a band called "my dying bride" to grab the >meshuggah disc, mostly because i couldn't remember if MDB was a band >that has been favorably discussed on here, or unfavorably compared to >the spice girls.....clarification would be nice

MDB is definitelly one of the unfavored ones. Dance pop of the worst kind. Actually they're 'bout to release a project w/ Spice Girls. The disc will be called My Dying Spice Girls :) Seriously, they are one of the best doom metal bands. Nothing like Meshuggah. Gloomy, depressing but still beautiful songs. Check out The Angel and the Dark River, As the Flower Withers and Like Gods of the Sun. I haven't heard yet their latest release 30.<something>%... Complete, but I've read some very varying opinions about it. Anyway, MDB is highly recommended.

I remember when Pro Center here in Finland had this kind of notice. Stairway was one of the songs. Also all Metallica, Cream and Hendrix(?) songs weren't allowed. Haven't seen that notice in ages, though.

Hi folks!!

Last week someone posted something about the bootleg called "Nighttown Nostalgia", from the Rotterdam fan-club show. I've found it but when I checked the set list out , I realised that "Goodbye yellow brick road" (Elton John cover) was missing. Does anybody can tell me if it really does not make part of that boot? As it was sealed I couldn't check its sound quality. I'd like to hear something related as well.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all

here's my review of Cathedral's latest album, as promised.

CATHEDRAL - Caravan Beyond Redemption (Earach Records - MOSH 211 CD)

This album starts with the sound of a fairground organ, and 72 minutes later ends with the same sounds - and you have spent 72 wonderful minutes in Cathedral's fairground, going round and round on the carrousel, up and down on the roller coaster, being frightened on the ghost train, being amazed by the contortionists and freaks. And still wanting more. This is easily Cathedral's most mature album. It's their third album in the current line up, and the guys have really jelled this time. The big Sabbath-like riffs are still there, the doomy elements are still there (especially on the slower tracks), and Lee Dorian's spooky vocals are still there - but now Cathedral are so much more than a doomy Sabbath tribute band. The stoner elements from the last album are less apparent, and the guys seem to be having a lot of fun - listen to the bongo section in the middle of "Voodoo Fire" or the crazy bass break in "Revolution". 70s disco beats are in there, as are 80s monster riffs and 90s doom, together with some samples from trash movies. This album rocks and grooves, flattens you against the wall and beds you down on candy floss. Lee's vocals are very varied - sometimes he sounds like himself, sometimes like Martin Walkyier from Skyclad and sometimes like Steve Harley from Cockney Rebel (anybody else remember them?). The mix is excellent (nice job by Andy Sneap), and Dave Patchett's art work is like you slipped into one of Hieronymus Bosch's bad dreams. I feel refreshed and happier after I listen to this album. Don't just take my word for it - go buy it. 10/10

stay safe and happy listening Neil Gallop (nga@software-ag.de) Currently playing: Smashing Pumpkins - Adore

Yet more ramblings from me, everyone

>folks aren't offering them for sale. Even the band members who don't >approve of boots (and that'd be everyone except Portnoy - tho' what does >Rudess have to say about it?) have to admit that it's a hell of alot >better to trade boots of the band rather than selling them for profits... This is half-inched from Take To The Sky, but the guy won't be reading this, so tough: Here's the thing. How can ANYONE be against bootlegs? Pirates is one thing, that's taking money from the band's pocket. Boots *aren't*. Nobody's going to shell out loads of dosh for a boot unless they're the kind of fan who's already got every album a band's officially released (probably on all the different formats and different releases - see US/Europe OIaL question). The band loses nothing, unless their live shows are so piss-poor that they don't want people hearng them. It's stupid that boots are even illegal.

>people who liked you? What on earth could you be talking about? Wait, >I SEE what you mean now, you're afraid of STALKERS. Now I get it. But then again, let's face it: DT are the sort of band who's fans are so devoted that compared to a lot of fans of other bands, they'd count as stalkers in those fans eyes. It's all relative, and prog does aim at a very devoted - dare I say obsessive - group of people. Can you imagine Oasis fans arguing over their logo?

>By the way, are you trying to counter my argument that Petrucci can seem cold >and robotic in comparison to Mike Portnoy or are you just talking out of your C'mon Bafu, everyone else on this whole *planet* seems cold and robotic by comparison to MP.
