    I saw them when they opened for Slayer in April. I did not realize that
    they were as complex as you all say. To me they were jsut another metal
    band. I did note the AWESOME guitar solos, (which none of my friends cared
    for) to quote my friend Paul "they sound like a keyboard solo from DT)
    what and ass. Anyway, i think I will have to pick up an album or two now.

    After being routed THROUGH d.c. to get to Northern Virginia due to a car 
crash, I arrived at Jaxx around 9pm (man, it was hot outside yesterday!) just 
in time for Division. The crowd seemed a little lighter than it was for the 
Iced Earth show, but there were plenty of people in attendance. Division 
played its standard set with a few covers (thankfully no Maiden this time -- 
I am tired of "Phantom") that included Savatage's "Power of the Night" -- a 
song that sounds like Division could have written it -- and Dio's "Rainbow in 
the Dark" -- a tune the soundman could have done without. The originals were 
pretty good, with selections such as "Ultrasane" and "Eraser" kicking ass. 
How about some new originals, guys? I don't see how Matt could wear that 
long-sleeved Nevermore shirt because it was h - o - t hot up there. Next up 
was Vanilla Ice and the Wife Beaters' Posse or something like that, which 
sounded much like a crappy Danzig playing "angry" sludge music. Ooh, baby, 
flex those pecs. Anyway, Nevermore soon took the stage, Warrell Dane, with a 
goofy Elmer Fudd (albeit Elmer Fudd with lots of blond hair) look on his 
face, kicked into lots of songs off of "Dreaming Neon Black," a surprising 
pair from "In Memory ("Sorrowed Man" even), a couple of Sanctuary tunes 
("Battle Angels" and "Future Tense") and various others. The sound was crisp 
and excellent (the soundman was the same monster from Iced Earth -- he knows 
by what the fuck he does) and Warrell was pretty much "on." The musicians 
played their parts well and a good time was had by all. I preferred Iced 
Earth's show to this one, but I guess it isn't fair to compare apples and 
oranges. Oh yeah, since when is "corn" a breakfast cereal?? Warrell needs to 
work on his stage patter ;-)

versions of LITS, Voices, Under a Glass Moon, and, my favorite, 
Scarred.  The Metropolis
Part I encore includes snippets of Sabbath's "Children of the Grave" and 
Metallica's
"One."

    Hey there! 

    This is my first letter here. My Dream Theater "Experience": Over a party I
heard a freind of mine tells to another freind about this great band, Dream
Theater he's got to listen to. After two monthes  I was on a trip to USA
and in a used CD store I saw Awake for 8$ (which is pretty cheap, where I
live it costs 21$!!!!!!!). So I bought it without knowing anything about
the band. May I add that I didn't regret it for a second after only one
listen - it ROCKED.

    On the Pink Floyd issue: I also don't like them much. My friend gave me Thw
Wall and Dark Side of The Moon, and after two listens, I still don't like
it (and don't think I will, although I promised to give it another chance.)
It's just a bit boring.

    About the Clinics: Can somebody tell me what they are? (I guess they're not
real clinics. I know I wouldn't want to be checked by a Progressive Doctor
:-!)

    	That's not a problem with your MUA.

    	It's a problem with the mailing list software that removes any
	header reference to MIME (or any other header at all -- which
	*is* evil and prevents people from chasing impostors, for
	instance; the Received: headers have the purpose of tracing
	the path that a message takes), even when the message doesn't
	contain any attachment and only gives instructions on the
	character set (which is doubly evil, if you ask me).

    	And that's even if you're subscribed in bounce mode. Perhaps
	Ryan should consider using qmail + ezmlm on the new mailing
	list (or if people really want digests, he might like to read
	more about ezmlm-idx). For any information about the programs
	mentioned above, see www.qmail.org and www.ezmlm.org.

    	BTW, I don't know why people like digests so much. You loose

    I just want to thank Paul Cashman for making me feel at home in Atlanta when
I went to Dragon Con.  Even though he had hundreds of people pulling him in
multiple directions (hmmm thats a bizaare thought taken literaly), he took
time out of his very busy schedule to show me around, introduce me to band
members, other Jammers, the "goths" and other unusual creatures.  BTW,
Godhead & The Changelings kicked ass live!  If anyone has the chance to go
to Dragon Con next year, do it.  It was fantastic.  I must also give thanks
to Phil, who helped me to understand (sort of), what the deal is with GWAR.

    all again just a matter of opinion.  Perhaps heights scare the shit out of me and climbing mt Everest would be a living nightmare.  Something cool for you may just not do it for someone else.  If I played DT for someone and it didnt amaze them, like it does you or I, I would just say "well, its not his/her thing"  You listen to what you listen to because you like it.  Someone else might think what you listen to is complete shit.  And you know what?  Neither of you are right or wrong, because music, like any artform, is opinionated.  I feel sorry for people who think that they're getting some sort of secret high listening to a certain band or genre and feel sorry for people who dont listen to the same thing because they're missing out on something "cool" even though that "cool" thing may just not turn the particular person on.
Then again, thats just my opinion.

    In case any Rush fans didnt know, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson do cameo appearances in the new South Park movie as the ambassador and chancelor from Canada.  They dont really look like them (though as any South Park fans know, its very hard to do a charicature of someone as a canadian).  I also hear they did "O Canada" for the movie's soundtrack, though its not in the actual movie, just on the album.
