Yup. I rememeber (Dunno if the same article) that it said more or less that
JM is to DT a kind of "GLUE", keeping songs understandable (glue-ing
instruments) to the listener. That is, working as a tourist guide through
the songs, so U wouldn't be as lost as newbie on the Ytsejam. ;)

    >> Kind of made me think what it would be like if we had Myung
doing the same stuff that the others were doing with a million notes
per second and chromatic runs and other over the top stuff.
Somehow I think that would be just a bit too much (although
come to think of it that might be cool for a while)>>>

You can bet on it ! Maybe the next album will give us some surprises... (I
    hope so)

Oh..about my subject... It's related to all the flames recently posted.
Just thought it will be useful for some ppl. Remember the welcome mail ?

Hey Chris, a question here. (I'm spanish speaker) What do you mean by "blew
him off"? Derek didn't want to tell him about his patches ?

Cuz in Manifest... The leads sounds of Matt sound to me really close to
Derek's. I'm not complaining about it here, I'm just asking some
clarification ;) I mean, the lead sounds are similar, but the way both of
them play are quite different. (Am I clear enough?)=)

    Totally agreed!

A last question, do someone have the Dali's Dilemma's URL ? Thanx in

Yep, a very cool topic to discuss!
As far I'm concerned, Jordan sound on RPM could've been way better. I

Sorry for that stupid pun. The accordion is more native to the Germanic region and the polka tradition. Italian music uses the concertina, a smaller cousin of the accordion, without a keyboard. In the tangos, there is usually a bandoneon which has a similar sound to the accordion, but is again slightly different in construction.

Well, i'm currently using 4 Keyboards and no modules. But that's gonna change in some time. I'm using the Korg Trinity Pro, with FII-patches and Platypus-patches. The Yamaha SY-35 and SY-55 but i'm gonna sell these 2 keyboards. And last but not least...the Roland VK-7. Just bought it a couple of days ago. As I was telling, i'm gonna sell the 2 Yamaha's and i'm gonna buy the Korg SG Pro X, The Roland XP-80 and the Kurzweil K2500rs....then i'm finished...for the moment at least.

I know htis IS an OPEn forum, but please, the Spock's Beard thing is getting a wee bit old.

Anyway, someone mentioned WDADU's back cover. There are several different versions of htis on CD. I believe I have an original Mechanic Records one, with no pictures on the back. True it was rereleasd on MCA, but every other one I have seen is by One Way records. Any thoughts? Also on my back cover, it's like they photocopied an LP album, I have listings for Side's 1 and 2.

    > I have heard the new DT . . . it is called "When the Water Breaks"

You know, I haven't had time to listen to LTE 2 too much since I got it, but all I can do is hope that the new DT sounds little like WtWB. I mean, this album is great, but imo, it's >not< DT. In fact, I'm listening to When the Water Breaks right now, and although alot of the thematics on it are great, in >my< opinion it's very disjointed, boringly long, and downright annoying at its deliberate progginess.

I mean, the shorter songs like Acid Rain and Biaxident are great. Another Dimension is pretty damn good, too. It's just that there are alot of parts in WtWB that sound to me like they were just randomly thrown in. It's a 'jam' session of sorts so that's understandable, but it just totally cripples the flow of the song to me to go from these cool interludes into this "Let's see Altura try and rip THIS off" sort of thing. Ah, well. It'll still be interesting to see what the new DT album's like. Personally, I hope it's more like Acid Rain and Hourglass. hehehe. I think I'm losing my prog edge. Must... listen... to... Phil Collins...

And is it just me (I'll probably get hella-flamed by someone for this), but does the intro to Biaxident sound like a tip of the hat to John Tesh or what? :) Serious, that piano playing sounds alot like something John Tesh would do. *ducks* -- KorgX3

Our special guests again were the members of LORDE OF ALL DESIRES ....I guess they had such a swell time last week that they decided to try it again...this time bringing a few members of PENTAGORIA and hoping to see the now infamous "Dick-Stick" rear it's ugly and swollen purple helmetted head! This did (unfortunetly) happen again and the Bitslap and the Michelle were "up" for the challenge and presented the newly crowned champion with the coveted 8 and a 1/4 decree. Some guys have all the luck....and others have a room full of dudes having a "dude occasion".... complete with lots of bad jokes....extreme body odor.....pron and wrestling refferences....and the belching contest which proved to be more of a laugh-fest than the measuring of the membrane. On hand for this event were the said band members, Spooky B (aka Mr. Dark and Spooky...amoung others), the Scheck-heck instant co-co and the Don-Don beer nuts, and another meeshell or mishall (and she was doing her own measuring by the evenings end.. hey...is that your hand in his pants??) .....the contest even had a few phone callers contribute their vocal spewings and I was convinced that Spooky B and Ryan were gonna hurl with their "dueling expulsions"..... you had to be there...really....I still don't know why ANAL BLAST never showed...I guess we'll try next week. In the weeks ahead we see 21st CENTURY SIN and OPAQUE making their way down to the studio...along with COLD COLOURS and NOTHING...to name only a few.

    ROOT-O-EVIL RECORDS UPDATES:

LORDE OF ALL DESIRES ADDS THIS WEEKEND and the results have been flowing in and it looks like the response has been OUTSTANDING!!! We canot thank everyone enough who added "The Scent of Malevolence" to their radio roster and charts. I am sure that this release will continue to remain high on the playlists and I thank everyone again who has shown this very deserving record any amount of support!

If you are going to the Milwaukee Metalfest......make sure you see the LORDE OF ALL DESIRES and the rest of the Root-O-Evil Records roster. Here is the "tenative and arranged" schedule ...

    FRIDAY JULY 30th

    8:40 IMPALER 10:40 OPAQUE

    Saturday July 31st

6:40 COLD COLOURS 8:00 LORDE OF ALL DESIRES

but you know other bands always seem to run long so stop by the Root Cellar Records/Root of all Evil Booth for final times....ect...This is one Metal event you are not gonna want ot miss....it is bigger than ever this year!! Go to www.metalfest.com for more info.

OPAGUE and COLD COLOURS are working on art and liner notes for their new releases.....GOTTERDAMMERUNG is still in the studio mixing their "Twilight of the Gods"......WALHALLA are busy recording their new full length (and probably awaiting $$$ from yours truly).....NOTHING-"Nondescript" should be here in 2 weeks.......

The Root of all Evil is putting together a label sampler to commemorate our first year Anniversary... (the labels inception was at Metalfest 1998!!) It will have 19 tracks on it (almost 74 minutes of music) and 3000 will be made and given away at Metalfest and through radio worldwide! It will feature tracks from all of the Root-O-Evil Records releases, some tracks from upcoming projects, other bands we distribute and 2 tracks from the first ROOTS compilation but this time re-mastered for maximum penetration (as with a number of other songs on this compilation)! Thease should be ready in about 3 weeks and we will get thease out to you radio people pronto!

Actually, you COULD say that Images and Words was a first album. I for one haven't listened to much of WDADU (I REALLY need to buy it), but I can say this: With Charlie on vocals, it really DOES sound like a totally different band. So you could theoretically say that Images and Words was a first album for the band as it was. Somebody may make arguments about how each time a new keyboardist was introduced to the band that it could have been considered a first album, but to tell the truth, I don't really hear so much of a difference in the sound of the band with the differing keyboardists (well, there is difference in style, but I don't hear the overall sound of the band CHANGING) as there was in the change between Dominici and LaBrie. I would have to say that I consider WDADU as well as I&W to be two "first albums" by the same band.

    >< believe it or not both Kings X and the Galactic Cowboys are "full-fledged Christian" bands.. ><

Some people consider King's X a Christian band, and they have stated time and time again that they're just christians in a metal band. So both bands have written some anti-abortion themed songs, does that make them christians? now i could care less if they were christians or satanists. i wouldnt likely respect the latter, but it's the music that matters, and there's no such thing as christian music, just christians *making* music.

    >< It very well could be - I've never seen the video, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Mike did pull it. Though the quality made it sound more like something that was recorded on a 4-track w/a drum machine than something taken from a video. It was on Precious Things, if I recall correctly. ><

I think that song was Freeport Jam, or maybe Solar Groove. I had Precious Things, but it was defective, so I sent it back to Bahr and obviously never got it back. One of the songs featured Myung prominently, but I think the rest of the band played on it.
