Someone mentioned "Waynes World" and I havent thought about that movie or seen
it in a long time. From what i remember, isnt it true that when they go back
stage at the Alice Cooper concert, they run into (among others) our old pal
Derek Sherinian??
Maybe its an illusion or some shit or maybe i was smokin some messed up herb,
but from what i remember, they do. I think i can also remember seeing his
name in the credits under "Alice Cooper's band"

First off, I want to bring up the vote at www.freevote.com/booth/favemale...
It is done now, and James placed 8th. Not bad! A new month has started,
therefore the whole voting thing is starting again....James is at 4 already.
If you want, you can even vote 5 times, each day.....
We can bring him to the top! oh yeah, does anyone know who that Dave Gahan
guy is at number one ?....

 Here's a few supergroups I thought up-

1) Guitars- Al Dimeloa
2) Bass- Victor Wooten
3) Vocals- Layne Staley wow.... that would be weird!
4) Drums- Neil Peart
5) Keys- Jordan Rudess

1) Guitars- Steve Morse
2) Bass- Tony Levin
3) Vocals- James LaBrie
4) Drums- Dave Weckl
5) Keys- Jan Hammer

brain making sure that your pargraphs are all fully justified. ;-)
Also, I'm sure trying to be a one man webmaster to the stars doesn't help
either (or the fact that you still use Windoze Notepad to do all that stuff)...
hehe

j/k ;-)

On a more serious note about CTS... make sure you don't have to go through
surgery to cure it either. A lady at my work just went through it, painful and
she's out of commison for another 6-8 weeks. Although, I guess some doctors now
use a low level laser procedure to try and remedy the condition too...

Hello, there...

I've just heard from my friend that Nevermore would tour with Iced Earth only some shows on the May US tour. I don't know if it means they will tour in the States till the 19th of May. But I got shocked with the following info... There's a possibility that Nevermore will cancel the whole US tour with Iced Earth! It is sure they have longed going on the road in the States. So they don't wanna cancel this tour...I think. This information is not yet confirmed, so US Nevermore fans have to wait and see...

Try locking him in a basement and making him listen to nothing but Tony Levin, Victor Wooten, Michael Manring, and other super-bassists.

Hi, my list fellows. Well, though it isn't QUITE april yet, it will be soon, and there's a new Grendel song up. Grendel is, well, the only constant is that it's electronic. I used to call it progressive, but since prog is stagnating so harshly, I don't anymore. (:

This song, "Arizona Bay, Part 1," is a nice monologue with soundscape. There are no synths on this recording (I always wanted to say that ... look, I'm david torn). All the music is produced by flute, so if you want to see what you can do with acoustic instruments, check it out at http://listen.to/grendel or the URL in the sig. Look under "Songs" for the song, and have fun.

I know this ia a bit off topic for this mailing list and I apologise for the NDTC.

I'm aiming my question for the bass gearheads on the jam, you know who you are... Does anyone have any experience with Hughes and Ketttner bass amps? I'm getting really excited about the BassBase 400 head. Is it really as good as some people say it is? And which 150+ watt head (or combo) would you recommend instead? I'm also looking at a Trace Elliot SMC combo but somehow it doesn't convince me (note that I can't try the gear out and have to order it and therfore pay for it first). I really wanna buy an amp that I'll enjoy for many years.

Thanx,

Matej

:Jammers posting about EXPECTING King's X to be prog and thinking that their :songs especially early ones don't rock. Well let me tell you that back :in 1988/89 when I popped out and got the vinyl LP of Out of the Silent Planet I :was floored by it's ingenuity and originality that doesn't come along too :often so to see them languishing with Metal Blade and all that entails (crap cd :cover art) is sickening.

I'm totally with you about their first album, but comments about Metal Blade are a bit weird. The reason they dropped out of Atlantic was because they weren't selling millions of records and they were pressuring them to make hit songs, while providing almost zero promotion. Metal Blade might be smaller, but the attitude is very much different. King's X can write what they want and still sell a fair ammount of records for a small label. And the promotion is better than ever. Before the show here in Ljubljana we got a big pile of posters, promo vids (anyone want a copy?) and they had a long show on german VIVA ZWEI tele that included alot of live footage from Hamburg show. The guys are happier than ever and the music is just unbelivable. And about the CD cover art, the band themselves participated in designing it, and taking photos and stuff, so if you don't like it it's not really Metal Blade's fault... but then again, who buys CD for artwork anyway?!!?

Matej

Germans, hollanders and britts, don't miss King's X on this tour, they smoke!!

Okay...from _Clinically Oriented Anatomy, 3rd Edition_, Keith L. Moore. Just for accuracy's sake.

"Any lesion that significantly reduces the size of the carpal tunnel (e.g., inflammation of the flexor retinaculum, anterior dislocation of the lunate bone, arthritic changes, or tenosynovitis of the tendon sheaths)[if I'm not mistaken, awkward positioning of the wrist joint and vibration are also contributing factors] may cause compression of the median nerve." What this means is that there's this tunnel created between the hamate and pisiform bones on the pinky side of your wrist and the trapezium bone on the thumb side of your wrist. The roof of the tunnel is called the flexor retinaculum. The median nerve runs in that tunnel.

The lesions above are traumatic and degenerative. Mostly, what happens is wear and tear. Then, inflammation sets in and everything swells up a little in the tunnel. Boom!! Compression of the median nerve.

"Because this nerve has two terminal branches (lateral and medial) that supply the skin of the hand, there is often tingling (paresthesia),

absence of tactile sensation (anesthesia), or dininished sensation (hypoesthesia) in the digits." Oh yeah...pain too.

"Often there is a progressive loss of coordination and strength in the thumb, owing to weakness of the abductor pollicis brevis and opponens pollicis muscles, if the cause of the median nerve compression is not alleviated. This results in difficulty in performing fine movements of the thumb. As the thenar muscles [of the thumb] and the lateral two lumbrical muscles of the other digits are also suppolied by the median nerve, the usefulness of the first to third digits may be diminished. In severe cases of compression of the median nereve, there may be wasting or atrophy of the thenar muscles [the fleshy part of your palm, attached to your thumb]. To relieve sypmtoms of the carpal tunnel syndrome, partial or complete division of the flexor retinaculum may be necessary. This operation is called a carpal tunnel release."

I donwloaded an MP3 of Gordian Knot's Reflections and I was well-impressed. It was tastefully constructed, nice acoustic guitar solo, restrained basswork and no "We can shred and here's an example of us doing so". BUT, I hear the remaining tracks on the album are madness altogether. Is this true? Would someone mind uploading an MP3 onto a server and giving me the URL?

Well, happy April Fool's Day, everybody.... :)

I was watching eMpTyV yesterday, and lo and behold, I saw it, too! The Matrix movie special featured a 10-second-or-so blurb from the heavy part from ACoS! Very cool (of course it was edited, sampled, looped, blah, blah, blah, but still very cool)...

As much as I generally don't like action movies (may Star Wars bend its copious head and apply its lips to my round ass <donning asbestos/polyester leisure suit>), I think I might just have to shell out 20 bucks and take the woman to this one....

P.S. I don't really HATE Star Wars ('hate' is far too strong a word). Yeah, it was awesome for its time, BUT THAT WAS 20 YEARS AGO. And yes, I do know this is a good way to get lots of people to 'hate' me... :o)
