I hate to tell you this Jay, but it ain't gonna happen. Stern ACTIVELY
searches for websites that broadcast his show and has them taken down,
because unlike Imus, he doesn't trade advertising space for his show - he
actually gets paid for having it syndicated. Which means that if people
listen to him on the web, he doesn't get paid.

Out of curiosity, what station did you listen to it on in NH? Not that
I'll be able to get it in Plymouth, but I'd like to try.

I don't remember which model it was. I thought it was a 2500, but I
distinctly remember it having two ribbons. a short one, trinity style, and
    the biggie.

    Carlos asked:

    >What are the diferences between these two boards, specifically why is the
    >triton cheaper?

It shouldn't be. The triton is the new synth, and is everything in the
Trinity and then some. More in all departments. :) The thing is, they
each come in 3 flavors. a 61 key (base model) a 76 (pro model) and an 88
key piano weighted (pro-X model) and each can have various add-on boards.
The trinity can have a prophecy synth one voice physical modeling board,
and the triton can add a Z1-like polyphonic physical modeling board. Also,
there's the Trinity V-3 which has the Z1 board built-in (kind of a halfway
between Trinity and Triton) so that could be more expensive than a Triton
    without the add-on board.

So an individual Trinity can be more than an individual Triton, but in
terms of comparable features, the Triton does (and therefore costs) more.

and on a non-synth note, Martin sed:

    >Does this mean that there is some kind of connection between ACOS and
    >Metropolis?

No, it just means that they were both written at the same time period, when
Charlie was still in the band, as opposed to some of I&W, which was written
    later.

    hi all,
I listened to that piece on 'the wire' and...
    ..I'm afraid.

How about a listening party in HH?
To the guy from HH, the day you mentioned that you had just bought the tix,
I went out to get mine and I also have tix for Hannover by now.

Just looked at the new album. Well, the new font sucks, the jam is not
mentioned, the little pins in the jewel case were broken, the booklet is too
small, on the small front side the title is upside down, Petrucci's sound
sucks, LaBrie sucks, Jordan is not up enough in the mix, I don't like the
newly painted bass drums, the sleev pics are too small, why didn't they
thank... oh my God, it's horrible.

    Btw, I like Mullmuzzler,

I have E, and I would recommend it. I think I got the Buckethead CD at
the same time (drummer is Michael Shrieve, I think?). I didn't like that
CD much. I'm straining my brain to remember why, but it just seemed too
laid-back and spacey for my tastes. It's cool if you like that sort of
thing, I suppose, but it didn't work for me. So, I ended up returning it
    to the store.

E is a bit different. Pretty energetic CD, lots of crazy chops from all,
especially that madman Anders Johansson (Jens' bro). In case you were
wondering, style of music is some kinda mixture of funk and fusion.
    Good shit.

Other than that, I dunno much about Hellborg. I've only heard those two
    CDs.

Another striking thing about the E CD. It has a pic of all three of them
(Hellborg and the Johanssons). The resemblance between the Johansson
bros. is VERY striking (I'm not even sure which is which, because I've
only once seen a pic of Jens, and I don't remember much of what he looks
like). Are they twins, or were they born a few years apart, and just
happened to have near-identical facial features?

Does anybody else agree that this album sounds a lot like Savatage? Lots of
piano and lots of synthetic arrangements? Through her eyes to me sounds a
lot like the trans-siberian orchestra song christmas canon...very simple
with excellent lyrics...except that dt doesn't use counterpoint vocals. The
last few minutes of Finally Free remind me a lot of the guitar and
instrumental section going behind the savatage song The wake of magellan..it
makes me wonder if Dream Theater was influenced a lot by The Wake of
Magellan. The song writting reminds me a lot of Awake and the last track
reminds me a lot of Scarred..same sylables and stuff for some of the lyrics.

So far after hearing this album about 10 times or so i must say this is way
better then FII...FII was just shit...but whether or not the album will
compare to images and words and awake will depend if I still listen to the
album about 5 years from now and still get totally emotional over it. So far
I think the album sounds more like awake then it does images and words...and
Home to me sounds a lot like it was Lie influenced with the indian sounding
guitar riff's in the beginning part of the album.

As for hearing the album ahead of time I still have it pre-ordered on CDNOW.
Having the inserts and hopefully the story behindg the album will
deffinetely make me want to get the album itself.

Ok..sitting here bored in computer class...thought i'd type up what was on
    my mind.

    Good bye everybody

The Triton is not cheaper anymore, Korg discontinued production of the
Pro and ProX models of the Trinity, and the basic 61-key version's list
price has dropped to somewhere around $2k to $2300 or so. Not sure
    exactly.

      The differences --

Triton has sampling built in, with some RAM (16 megs) from the
    factory. The Trinity has none.

Triton has dual polyphonic arpeggiators (modelled after the Z1)
while the Trinity has only one, and it might be monophonic (not sure)

The Triton has 7 continuous control knobs on the front panel, 3 to
control the apreggiator, 4 assignable, the Trinity has none.

Triton's processor is 2-3 times faster, eliminating a lot of the
lag with the touch screen and the patch changes.

The Triton's effects section is really beefed up, offering more
advanced algorithms, etc. Also has really cool new types of effects not
found opn the Trinity, including piano strings/damper simulation and
    vocoder.

The touch-view works a lot better, is set into the front panel
(not raised up), and is easier to use.

In general, the Triton is easier, more fun out of the box, and
more flexible than the Trinity. Some other little advancements have been
made also, but I don't realy feel like typing them. Go buy one. :)

    Hey gang,

I thought that to alleviate all the tension (liquid perhaps?) caused by some people here wanting to discuss the new album, and others wanting to be surprised, I created an online forum that will allow those of you who wish it, an uncensored free-form discussion of the new album. Those of you that want to remain surprised by it, should not read this particular forum. If any new album talk does stray into the other forums on my board, I'll get them removed asap (so all other forums are "safe")...

So let the discussion begin, just go to "The New Album" forum at: http://www.ivorygate.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/Ultimate.cgi

Anybody have Jordan's instructional video? I'm sure it's worth the $30 just to watch him wail for an hour, but does the shit he teaches apply to all musicians, not just pianists/keyboardists? Most instructional vids are pretty "cross-platform", but JP's wasn't particularly (yeah, there were a few broad concepts here and there, but I'm talking overall), so I'm just wondering. Thanks!

    Good question.

When the guys were trying to come up with a name for FII, nothing was really "jumping out at them" for quite some time. It got to the point that they were actually considering making the disc self-titled, then somebody (I don't remember who) came up with Falling Into Infinity, and they used that. So Falling Into Infinity doesn't have any particular meaning, and it isn't a song lyric (like the other discs), it just sounds cool.
