Those of you who backup your HD data to CD's, what software package(s) do
you use?

Alright, all you guitarists out there, I apologize if this is a totally
newbie question. I've been playing for about 6 years, using mainly Strats
(standard trem), Pauls (stop tailpiece, obviously), and Ovation acoustics
(never seen an acoustic with a trem... :) ). Anyway, I just recently bought
a brand-new ESP with a licensed Floyd Rose tremolo. Before I knew what I
was doing, I went ahead and took off the locks on the nut and tried to tune
the strings with the coarse (headstock) tuners. Of course, the whole damn
thing went horribly out of tune, the bridge is in the wrong position,
everything's out of alignment, yada yada yada. Now that I've screwed
everything up, how do I fix it? I'd also like to put Elixir 10's on it
instead of the GHS 9's that came from the factory. Please help (but only
via private e-mail, PLEASE)!! :)

Well, it's certainly too something...
This cd might actaully be listenable if they cut the drummer's foot off. I
mean, play triplets, pound away at thirty-second notes, or whatever, but
good god, let the bass player chunk out the intricate rythms - you don't
have to match him note for note ENDLESSLY. Ah, what do I know? I'm usually
not bothered by hyper-active drummers, but I guess there's different levels
of hyper-activity...

Wouldn't platinum be 1,000,000 (a million) copies? Is that a typo, or
do they use a different scale in Japan?
Also I'm curious what figure is normally used (worldwide sales, or
U.S.?) when you hear that BlahBlahBlah's album YadaYadaYada is triple

It's actually around 80 minutes. I have several classical CDs that clock
in at 80:xx...
In fact, there are also 80 minute CDRs on the market now. They are more
expensive, but they're out there... $20 for a pack of 5 at Best Buy.

They use a different scale in Japan, relative to the population
differential. Since they have about 10 times less people there, they scale
back the platinum rating 10 times, etc.

If you hear an album has gone triple platinum, that is almost always U.S.
figures only. These numbers are certified by the RIAA (Recording Industry
Assocation of America?)...

The new Michael Kiske "Readiness to Sacrifice" is a great album!! It's not a
metal record at all and at times not even a hard rock record. However, if
you have an open mind and have enjoyed Kiske's previous songwriting (not only
his 1st solo album, but the songs he penned in Helloween), you'll probably
like this album. IMO, it's pretty deep and introspective. It's my favorite
record of the year so far.
But....new DT is coming and I just got some advance information from
EastWest. Without giving anything away, it looks like this record will be
amazing!!!! I've been a fan since WDADU in '89, and I haven't been this
excited since just before I&W came out in '92!!! It would seem, on paper at
least, that the boys have outdone themselves. There is much to be excited
about....

"You can never do wrong to get any Zappa."
--A lesson I learned earlier this year when purchasing my first Zappa album.
Consequently I went on to purchase about 10 more within a 2 week period.
*sigh* Many, many more to go. :)
Hmmm... I think "Strictly Commercial" is the best place to start. Then
grab "Have I Offended Someone?" Both are best of albums that will give you
a feel of Zappa's incredibly wonderful (yet overwhelmingly racey) music.
Then buy the double CD "Joe's Garage" to indulge yourself in the whackiest,
most at-once sonically pleasing and overly offensive concept album you'd
probably ever want to hear. :)
Just be warned. Zappa's lyrics are extremely racey to unsurpassed degrees.
It only enhances the listening experience 20-fold. :) Just imaging Steve
Vai writing his most insane masterpieces to lyrics written by AL(the
ProGtologist) and sung by Mike Portnoy. :D That's kinda close to Frank
Zappa.
Not to mention not only was Zappa one of this centuries most innovative
composers, he was also one hell of a guitar player. :)

That's a negative. Steve Vai isn't singing there - the liner notes list the songs from which the many SAMPLES on the CD were lifted. Some pretty weird stuff he's using there, eh? :)

First thing, HOW COULD YOU SAY Q2K LACKS EMOTION? Yes I am yelling. I bought it today, (what a pity, I'll know the secrets of the DT album b4 you guys)BREWHAHAHAHA. Any way, the QR has more of a groove and a "band thing" going again. I like them w/o Chris, they are better. the art is bad ass too.
Secondly, about this DT cover and title, as max says in Sepultura's "Propanganda" "Don't believe what you see, don't believe what you read"
To me life is a big Sepultura song.
nick was good with megadeth, but I love Risk, it shows there song writing ability (except Crush Em) Insomnia is Different (wow what a concept) The rest of the songs are actually complete songs. every Megadeth album before was a 40 minute or less song, with everything sounding the same, like a Slayer album. dave and Marty wrote most of the songs, and the album reflects their maturity.
And last but not least, I am actually liking Korn now, I don't know what has come over me, their stuff just makes my move, and Jon davis's voice is like an instrument in its self, more than any other singer IMFO.

1) Put Ice Age's 'The great Divide' in your CD-player 2) Find track 10 (Worthless Words) 3) Listen to the wacky section from 0:55 to 1:00 of that track 4) Put I&W in your CD-player 5) Find Metropolis pt. I 6) Listen to the wacky section from 4:42 to 4:50 of that track 7) Be amazed!
Is this coincidence? Tribute? I don't know, but those to little snippets sure sound remarkably the same. Lemme know if y'all agree.

Here's another one for the misheard lyrics of James LaBrie... from the song "Guardian Angel" on the Mullmuzzler disc. "Lost out in a storm of Sinfulness" sounds like "Lost out in a storm of syphilis" :)
Other than that, "Keep it to Yourself" is an EXCELLENT disc. The music is really good; a mix of hard and soft songs, and a mix of standard rock songs with progressive songs. They've all got really interesting melodies, harmonies, counterpoints, etc. James doesn't shriek too much either <g>. The lyrics are also really good and much better than "Anna Lee." I'm not a big fan of the message present in "Beezlebubba" but I can't get that song out of my head! :)
Overall, it's an excellent disc; a lot better than I was expecting. It's a shame it took the U.S. Postal Service ten days to deliver it from CDNow... (I pre-ordered it to be shipped via U.S. Mail; they shipped it three days late, and it took TEN DAYS to arrive... oh well...)
