I know of two new DT MP3s on an FTP site (it's not my site). It's a huge prog
metal MP3 FTP, and there are two MP3s from the new album. The FTP is

    ftp://teof:or1on@209.211.132.144/mp3/

This is not a spoiler. I can't be banned for this. If you wish to go to this
FTP and ruin the surprise for yourself, then by all means, go head. I can
understamd it. I'm not gonna do it myself, but I thought that a lot of people
might be interested in it. And maybe it will satisfy the people who keep
bitching about the "veil of secrecy."

Well, Ive got the new Queensryche too. It is listenable, Im thinking their
next album after this one will be something worth talking about. You can
actually listen to Q2K in its entirity and not want to skip any tracks out of
lament for the band they used to be. I mean, after listening to Promised
Land (IMO their best work), this dosent even come close. Some of the tunes
(Right Side of My Mind, Liquid Sky) almost have that Queensryche sound that
most of us yearn for the return of.
I know they cant release another empire, or an 80's metal styled concept
album, but I thought they were headed into the right direction with Promised
Land...thought provoking lyrics and powerful instrumentation. But they threw
everything away and came out with HITNF, which sucked royally. I guess its
going to take some time for them to master whatever new sound they're trying
    to come up with.
      Well, just my thoughts....

Plus CDNow has pre-orders like 3-4 weeks before it is actually

I'd guess that if the short Pre-New Year tour starts in December, the dates
will be primarily East Coast stuff, NJ, NY, PA, CT, Maybe MA and/or RI. It
depends on how long they want to be off before the holidays. I'd bet that
if they want 2 weeks before Christmas off, the dates will be similar to
that. When DT does short legs of a tour in the US, it's usually in the east
    coast.

heh...I'm not exactly a VETERAN 'jammer, but I do know the very Mindcrimer
you're referring to. Check out Mike Wilton's site
(http://www.firesky.com/wilton). Rich (Mindcrimer) is the webmaster and he

    Hi Kevin,

You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed
up for a free e-mail address that's powered by Mail.com.
Occasionally, we send out newsletters with information
about new products, tips on how you can take full
advantage of your e-mail account and special offers.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

For many people, September means the beginning of a new
academic year. But whether your student days are long
past or just beginning, we have some e-mail tips that
might make your life a little less complicated:

**FOLDERS: A great way to organize your messages is by
creating a set of unique folders. You can make one for
e-mails from your family, friends, or any mailing lists
to which you've subscribed. You can move e-mails right
from your Inbox, eliminating clutter and significantly
reducing the time to find old messages.

**ADDRESS BOOK: Our Address Book can help you keep track
of e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and any other
information you need to keep handy. Adding new addresses
is a snap; just click the "Add to Address Book" link next
to the sender's name of any e-mail that hits your Inbox.

**OTHER USES: Even if your academic years are behind you,
there are plenty of other times when you might want to
use your e-mail to stay in touch, from weddings to
promotions to alumni gatherings. E-mail is a great way
to tell a lot of people at once, and you may even cut a
few dollars off your phone bill!

These are just some of the additional free features you
received just by signing up for this e-mail address.
Remember, wherever you are - at home, school, your
internship, even your full-time job - all you need to
keep in touch with your e-mail is a computer with an
    Internet connection and a browser.

    See you next time!

    Sincerely,

    The Mail.com Team

Of course it was sarcasm - while I respect DT's "veil of secrecy" I don't
understand how knowing the title or tracklisting would affect my judgement
of the record. After all, as someone else pointed out, we'll need to know
the title before we can go get it at the shops - plus, once we have it in
our hands we'll see the track listing before getting home/work and listening
    to it.

Now, I won't want to hear about the concept (if any), or really care about
reading lyrics or hearing samples before listening to the full thing.

Ahh... I'm just repeating what has been said before, so I'll shut up.

Not the people who actually support local commerce. I trust the guy at the local CD shoppe with order in about 6 copies and save one specifically for me. :)

I don't have to know one damn thing about the new album until I unwrap it and pop it in the CD player. And I eagerly await the moment that my fancy will be most thoroughly tickled.

    Hey all,

I wanted to let everyone know that as of right now, I'm unsubscribing from this list until October 26. I'm tired of the bickering and the general lack of brains of some of you.

On top of all that, I am THOROUGHLY disappointed in ALL of you who have posted spoilers/tracklistings/title/other information about the new album. What happened to the days of putting several lines of ***SPOILERS*** in an email to warn those of us who didn't want to know? What happened to the common courtesy (and common sense) of respecting other peoples' wishes about what they did and did NOT want to know about the new album? Oh, I forgot. We're not overrun with people who can't figure out ways to NOT post in MIME and where the average IQ is 3.

And to the people who bitched other people out about posting spoilers and then went on to re-post the same spoilers: SHAME ON YOU! You should know better too.

To those of you who are trying to do the right thing, I apologize for this email. Most of you know this is out of character for me, and I really feel bad that it has come down to this. I also wish to apologize to Skadz and to wish him good luck over the coming weeks.

I wish everyone good health and happiness. I'll see you all on October 26. And if anyone has anything to say to me (or Korg, if you post another funny), send it privately as I won't read another 'jam until then.

    Peace, A very disappointed Nicole/Kirby

    Hello all!

I'm a new guy to ytsejam but not to Dream Theater and the progressive metal scene. I have seen these posts about Q2k's poor quality. My question is: Is this Queensryche the same Queensryche who wrote master pieces like Operation Mindcrime, Best I Can, and I AM I????

Poor album in my own opinion. There is a decent touch of "feel" on songs and some people (who like the typical 4-4 guitar-loud kind of music) might like this album As for me, I think Queensryche should really consider this album to be a let down for atleast the "so-so" Ryche fan like myself.....flame me if you like.

I can't wait for Dream Theater's new one! I just watched "5 years in a Livetime" last night,,,,,,,this band is close to being my favorite. They're right up there with Rush and U2.

By the way, if you're a Dream Theater fan and you live in North Carolina, let me know. There are not many DTers down this way; many more in PA where I'm originally from!

A note for anyone who is trying to avoid finding our anything about the new CD - DON'T GO TO CDNOW. I found out while surfing there that the new album is out for preordering. There's not a whole lot of information there, but even seeing what I saw pissed me off a little.

This is something VERY interesting - I just went to pre-order the new DT on CDnow, and it had listed the price as $12.49. When I re-entered my credit card info and address info, it jacked the price up to $14.99!

    What's the deal with this?

I noticed that as well, and hence didn't pre-order since it looked a little fishy. Maybe it's related to the disappearing info at Elektra? Maybe somebody out there is having a little fun being a tease. LOL

hey! i was looking for a Innocence faded tablature (for guitar) and came across the one on www.dreamtheater.net and frankly, i can`t understand a thing there... it has been transcrubed by a certain Adam Bodnar and i can`t even figure out the intro solo... he did a fine job alright tabbing out both the guitars at the beggining but it looks very confusing (at least to me). Anyhow, if anyone has that tablature scanned from the Tab book or maybe some other "more understandable" version, i`d be very grateful if you`d mail that to me... I have Metropolis scaned from the tab book, so if anyone needs that, feel free to contact me...

With all this talk about secrecy on the new recording, thought I'd throw in my thoughts...

Knowing the title or song listing doesn't bother me. That's something I'm going to know before HEARING the album anyway. It's the first thing I'll see when I pick up the disc. What bothers me (and is probably what DT had in mind) is pre-reviews and related arguments. If you read a lot of other peoples opinions about the music before you hear it, it creates strong prejudices in most people. I think this is what we're trying to avoid here.

The best situation would be for everyone to give it at least 10 listens before reading anyone else's comments or giving any opinions of your own.

What really is unfair is when someone listens once and then tells the world that the recording sucks. Everyone remembers that. When they post their opinion a week later and say "whoops, I was wrong, it's the greatest recording ever made!", it's too late. People only remember that first impression.

    my $.02, BH
