"A Perfect Circle is ASTOUNDING! If you like TOOL, yadda yadda..."
I just saw them live on Sunday in Edmonton at the SUMMERSAULT festival,
headlined by the Whining Pumpkins and Our Lady Peace (of Shit). Man, the
CD does not do APC justice; do all of yourselves a favour and see them
live! Very tight band, very intense performance, "Thinking of You"
definitely being the highlight of the set. Paz should have her ass
bronzed.

BYW, anyone bought already the BLS 2 project? The review on Magna Carta
seems pretty good, sounds like it's even better than the first one. Any
confirmation on that?

I'm not sure about that... but give a listen to Savatage's "Believe".
Doesn't the guitar in the background sound like Canon in D? Also recently
Vitamin C used it in the graduation song I think.

******SPOILERS FOR MOURNING WIDOWS SHOWS!**************
Hey, I caught the Godsmack show last week here in Maine. (1rst night at the=20
State Theatre) FUCKING GREAT!
NUNO KICKED FUCKING ASS! The name of the band is Mourning Widows. They playe=
d=20
an Extreme song or two, something from Nuno's solo record, and even a little=
=20
bit o' "Limelight" at the end of one song. Nuno has a great stage presence.=20
Here's a little review I did of his set on the Jemsite....
Mourning Widows:=20
I sh*t myself when I found out who the leader of this band was. Nuno=20
Bettencourt. Man, this was my 2nd time seeing Nuno, (Saw him on a stop of hi=
s=20
solo tour...), and he kicked more =E2=80=A2=E2=80=A2=E2=80=A2 tonight than h=
e did before. Even=20
though he hacked off his hair, he still rocked. A song titled "F*ck You" got=
=20
the audience really well. Funny, he had 3 Marshall heads, and one H&K...who=20
endorses him? =20
He played an Extreme tune or two, and played some stuff from Shizophrenia,=20
(Can't remember the name...think that's it..). He likes to swear as well. I=20
think it was his son who was out back dancing to his songs. The funniest par=
t=20
of his show-last song, he goes, "Ok, we've got a contract to kick your =E2=
=80=A2=E2=80=A2=E2=80=A2,=20
so sorry, but we gotta kick your =E2=80=A2=E2=80=A2=E2=80=A2, so...." and as=
he hit the strings,=20
nothing happened. The audience was fairly quite, and I was probably 4-5 away=
=20
from him, "PLUG IN YOUR F*CKING GUITAR MAN!" He looked at his tech as I was=20
saying it, then looked down after I said it, gets up to the mic, "What the=20
f*ck's wrong with me, I need to plug in my guitar first."=20
Great stage presence, as always.=20
The thing the impressed me the most about the band was that they all ripped.=
=20
The bass player had the coolest damn rig. He copied a lot of the guitar=20
parts, and did it the coolest way. He had a Whammy pedal, and sent the Dry=20
out to his bass rig, and then sent the Wet out to a H&K half stack.=20
The drummer rocked. Nuno even pulled half of his set down to the floor=20
afterwards. I think Nuno is probably, tech wise, the laziest guitarist in th=
e=20
world. =20
He has his tech controlling his wah pedal, and line booster. His solo's are=20
obviously note for note, because I'm watching the tech sit there and count=20
and move the wah up or down for each note he was supposed to.=20

Al mentioned it's going to be a hot one on Sat. and he suggested to dress
according. I have heard the Quest has a strict dress code...no torn jeans,
no sandals for men, no shorts for men. Is that going to be inforced for
the DT show?
Hopefully not, it would suck if people are turned away because they are in
shorts. I am hoping that the dress code is just for the beatiful people
dance club thing(after all it is the house that Prince built).

Does anybody know if and where one might find an English translation of the
liner notes to Blind Guardian's "The Forgotten Tales"? The ones in my copy
are in German, and I, like your typical American, speak only one language
(unless you count my halfass French...I wouldn't).
Speaking of languages, everyone should check out this site. It's very useful.

One question for the DT Phoenix jammers:
Hows the seating situation at the Web Theatre. Are we
gonna have to stand? Also, what hotels are near the
venue. I'm driving out from Los Angeles and will need
a room. Thanks.

I'm not sure I can agree with that statement. I'm not a big tool fan. (shut up, Korg) Tool is a solid band with a unique sound. I have some of their albums, but they don't get into rotation very often. aPerfectCircle on the other hand, ROCKS! With the exception of the last track. IMHO. Very solid and unique stuff. Weird groves that never seem to compromise musicality. It's definitely a breath of fresh air. I'd like to see other bands take this direction.. If for nothing else, just for a change of pace from some of the dreary crap that's been polluting the air waves. (Kid Rock - Biskit - Rage)
This 38 year old fart really likes this aPerfectCircle. The new Fates Warning album is also not bad. The recording/production BLOWS!!!! It's an audiophile's nightmare. More on this later...

Oh god no. I have such fond memories of driving to Old Bridge, NJ...taking the wrong exit onto (whatever road that is) and ending up stuck in rush hour traffic for an hour. Arriving at the Fantasia just as we're getting kicked out, buying my ticket for the show from Hairball, eating at McDonalds across the street with E-Man, the dudes from Inferno (I still have Architect), Brian Cox (official taper of the HFTH shows) and one or two others, standing in line for I-don't-know-how-long in the 10 degree weather waiting for the doors to open late, finally getting in and buying my t-shirt and pin, watching some "extreme sports disasters" video on the screen, seeing Rudess and Morgenstein Project! (at McDonalds I said "who are they?"), standing around some more, finally getting the feeling in my feet back, seeing DT take the stage and kick off a great show in the massively crowded club, feeling the blood start to pool in my legs and getting dizzy, staggering down to the entry way to try to get some air and hanging onto the wall, being escorted out the door by security who seemed to think I was going to be really sick or was on drugs (right at the beginning of the cover, not being let back in after recovering my strength (in a grand total of 1 minute...amazing what oxygen can do for you), driving back home pissed off, getting stuck in a traffic jam at 2:00am(????)......
Ah yes...those were the days :-)
