One of the TSO songs uses Canon in D doesn't it? I agree totally with
people who think that this song goes great with rock songs. Hell, lots of
classical music songs mesh excellently with rock...especially metal and prog
rock stuff. The two go together perfectly methinks. It's probably my
favorite classical tune, it evokes just tons of emotions...very powerful.

..And now back to my regularly scheduled listening to Dream Theater's Opus
    Magnum "SFAM." hehehe

In regards to the Phoenix show:

I've lived here in AZ for a year and I have liked DT since I&W came out.
However, I do not know anyone who likes them as much as me. Some say they
are ok, and the others don't like them or Rock (can you believe that??).
Anyway, I was looking for someone to meet either at the show or to go to the
show with. I live in the east valley area and I work at Motorola. I was not
looking forward to going alone, but I am looking forward to the show. I am
not looking for a date or anything, I just have not made many friends yet
here. I am from Detroit, 33, male and married.

Anyway, thought I might take a chance. I've seen some of the postings here,
so please don't reply if your only going to chastise me. Maybe someone out
there is in the same situation.

I have no idea what a ringtone is, but a friend of mine with absolute pitch occasionally gets numbers by listening when someone calls home on a pay phone. I have something like relative pitch and know when I dial a wrong number in the same way ;)

As for SF show, I think I'll be there if I can. If anyone who doesn't know me sees a tall woman with long blonde hair wearing a lot of leather, chances are it's me, provided I am there. And to think, last time I saw DT, I got a mild case of frostbite..

I second Andrew's motion...I heard that CD for the first time today on the way
to the Motley Crue/Megadeth show (the second time I've seen Maximum Rock this
summer...excellent show), and I was blown away. Very powerful stuff, with some
progressive touches. And needless to say the vocals are awsome. But word has
it Tool is working on a new album, so fear not!

Yeah, there are DT fans in the Sonoran desert, you just have to know
    where to look!

You could always go to Guitar Center Tempe, play the solo to Under a
Glass Moon on five different guitars through the dual rectifier and meet
some fans that way...or wear DT tour shirts wherever you go...and
there's always the legacy of Mike Bahr bootlegs, which were produced
    right here in the valley.

And then there's this Big Ass Forum. It's usually your best bet. :)

I'm up for a pre-show party at Cooperstown resturaunt. Hooters' food at
the Arizona Center just sucks. Or, if there are any objections (okay,
cover charges suck but it's just an idea), we could meet at Le Girls
    cabaret! }:^D

Web Theater is on Van Buren and 5th street, I believe. Lots of options
for grabbing a few drinks before or after the show (before is usually
more convenient) as there are NUMEROUS pubs/bars/7-11's in the area.

Mr. Voras, Mr. LuPone, Uncle Dave, I know yall are reading this! Let's
get some organization going here! :) Send emails to here or at
eckie@asu.edu if these seem like good ideas!

We never see each other anymore! *sob*

What the hell happened to Mike Bahr anyways?

    Hello friends!

In this difficult moment I've been thinking of some words to comfort all
those who worry about the future and to explain a reason for all this. For
there's one single reason: the loyalty to an idealism.
Angra was born on real friendship and lots of dreams within. Many of them
came true, thank to the help and care of all those who followed us around
the world: fans, press, business people... We reached out a level we could
never expect and there would have been much more to conquer... So, problems
started out. Frequently we'd been having serious discussions with our
management in Brazil. There was a period, right before Fireworks, when the
confidence in each other seemed already ruined - and that almost caused the
split then. However, with promises that everything would be cleared and
fixed up, we gave ourselves one more try. Those were just vain words.
Although we've accomplished both the record and tour, what we saw then was a
lot of misunderstanding and falsity, and the band being forced to face it
all just as "business". It was the beginning of a big disharmony between us,
the members. And of course, it would also reflect on the musical side.
For me, the name Angra - which now belongs to the manager - always meant
professionalism and quality. Somekind of magic that we can't explain...
And I just couldn't watch it die. I just wouldn't say I stay in the band and
do "one more record" for the sake of money. If once we ever told the press
that the day we would be no longer creative we should stop, that's the time.
I believe myself as a musician and I believe we shouldn't betray our very
instincts and that's why I'm having this attitude.
Of course, I worry about the many fans who feel lost now, but one thing is
to be said: I'm not dead and I feel even stronger now! And I won't let you
    down.
Now the plans point to Virgo (which actually has nothing to do with the
Angra split...) - But the future keeps an open door with my friends Luis
Mariutti and Ricardo Confessori, who left the band for the same reasons as
me. We three think we shouldn't let the angel fall and although we might not
keep the Angra name, we keep all the rest.
Thank you very much for your friendship and understanding and can't wait to
meet you all again around the world!!

    All the best,

    Andre Matos

I don't want the domain name, but the radio tower image used for the

while back. It could be a silly coincidence, of course. But the whole

You can take away my shredi name, but you can't take away my logo....
TAKE AWAY MY LOOOOGOOOOOOOOOO! I DON'T NEED IT ANYMOOOOOORE!

    Shredi.com is still available...although I probably shouldn't have

Danzig, as someone mentioned was originally part of the classic band Misfits.
His solo career, which included a lot in the industrial genre, was very
    contraversial (sp?)
mainly because it sucked. I think the guys not bad when he's good, but terrible when
    he's
    bad.

Yeah! They have an incredible sound and the album is very strong. Sometimes it
can be a bit too much like Tool mk. 2 though. Kind of Tool without the King
    Crimson/Pink Floyd influences.

Yea, no doubt, I made a boo-boo. Give me back my damn elm and Ubi shell
    account, damnit. :)

As for NYC plans -- some had mentioned a pre-show gathering. I'd kinda
like to get in line early and maybe even get in front during the show.
This has become a bit of a tradition for me at DT shows lately (Atl.
Tabernacle, Orlando HOB, Chicago HOB, Atlanta Masquerade....)

One thing I've learned, especially from that Chicago show: NEVER eat or

    Greetings fellow Jamsters,

This is just a little reminder about the pre-show meeting at "Old Chicago" pizzeria.. (located within a block of the venue) We'll be there between 1:30 - 3:30 woofing down pizza and beverages.. (Adult beverages for those of age) I have a finite supply of backstage passes available (and several of those are already spoken for) so I'm thinking about distributing them in a raffle... Or perhaps a little YtseQuiz. :-) We'll play that one by ear.

I'd HIGHLY recommend making the pre-show meeting.

Weather Update: It's going to be HOT and HUMID in the afternoon so consider that when selecting concert wear..

For identification purposes, I'll be wearing a FII hat backwards.. :) I'll also be wearing the matching blue FII concert T and sporting DARK sunglasses.

    Dats right, we bad!

The end of the world. Nostradamus was only a year off. AHHHH!!!! -- KorgX3 drinks a Pepsi through his bellybutton.

God dammit, I should have gone to the Philly show. :(

You know, the NMS sucked, but there's been nothing to replace it. Which is a shame. I heard about the Jam through the NMS, *and* met Psycho Hose Beast #3 because of that list. (Those of you that were at the Boston Rush show in '96 know who I mean.) Maybe someone should fire up another list. I'm not even sure if the FAQ is still intact. ::wheels start turning::

Dude, this is going to be a freaking blast. :) Too bad they're not playing Bitch Hell. I'd suggest a pre-show at the Fantasia. :)
