The new Condition Red cd is pretty good. Ex-DT Derek has
a couple keyboard solos on it. The guitars are done by
Alex Masi and Lars Eric Mattsson, two guys you should have
heard of by now. Lars also does the tasty bass. One male
and one female singers. She's good, but he's not really
imo. Lots of progressive/symphonic/melodic/classical etc.

hey, does anyone know what 2 cymbals mike had stacked together during the
"unplugged" rotterdam show? for those of you that don't know what i'm
talking about, watch the 5YIALT video during the unplugged show clips, &
look right next to his ride cymbal. there are 2 stacked together, and i
can't figure out if it's a 10" HH china kang on top of a 10" cd-disc
cymbal, or if it's a 10" HH china kang on top of 10" AAX splash. whatever
the combination is, it results in a very quick, trashy effect that sound
wonderful. fellow drummers on the jam, if you know which of these 2
combos it is, then please let me know. reply to the list, or private
email; either one works for me. if it turns out that no one has any clue,
then is there an email address that MP can be reached at? thanks a lot.

Hi everyone,
Since DT isn't playing close to Hamburg (Germany) in October I thought
that I would make the trip to the Netherlands to see them. The one
problem is that I can't find Den Bosch on any maps (even my huge
European driving atlas). Can someone with better geographical
knowledge of the Netherlands help me out with this one?

That may be because of the fact that Den Bosch is actually and officially 's Hertogenbosch. I'll be going to that show too. Be aware that it doesn't seem all that easy to get tickets though, at least if you don't live in Holland. It seems that there is no way to order tickets online or by phone from abroad. So I'll probably make a little trip to Holland to purchase my tickets in a post office. You might want to do the same.

Maybe. I remember it was mainly coins.. anyway, there was an even better story. One night in Leningrad, right in the middle of Y's guitar solo, someone threw a fucking FISH in his face! He was pretty stunned. I still can see the scene before my mind's eye:

The chord-of-all-open-strings (what would that be, Em-4-7 or something? :) starting to ring... feeding back thru the wall of marshalls. The fish obviously not saying much as it was on the stage, shimmering in the light from the follow spot... (it looked like a previously vacuum-packed sturgeon, quite big and heavy, and very dead. They both had their mouths open..)
What feels like two minutes passes before he (Yngwie, not the fish) mutes the strings...
(BTW Ivan, does that have some special significance in Russia, a la the fish-wrapped-in-newspaper of the Sicilians? Or would you say it was just someone with bad aim that wanted to be nice and share some fish? Trying to settle an old dispute.. :)

That being stated How about this? The Natural Disaster is Overpopulation. The Compassionate thing to do is exchange War, Borders, and Greed with their Positve counterparts: Exploration, Community and Profit. My Humble suggestion continues thusly and briefly: (but I am trying to refine these thoughts currently and would welcome private e-mail on this for the next couple days.)
The business of war complete with weapons is exchanged for the more lucrative business of OCEANIC as well as Space exploration complete with technological equipment. Borders for Community is how to pay. Natural resources as well as manpower are the Barter in the interest of expanding the Human Boundaries Greed for Profit Well you do the math. Either that or I've expanded my borders while watching Star Trek one time too many.

New Fates Warning kicks major booty. Don't expect anything even close to APSoG, Disconnected is one HEAVY disc! The new Chroma Key, to me, sounds like a spinoff of the first one, and it has programmed drums instead of Mark Zonder. New Symphony X will be released in Europe in October. Don't know shit about the new Poison and frankly I could care less. According to the Magna Carta site(I think that's where I got that info), Trent Gardner is working on both the new Magellan AND Explorers Club 2, so I guess we'll be hearing more about those sometime early next year.

Sounds pretty good, eh? :-) IMO, this band is absolutely incredible. =20 "Oceanborn" and "Wishmaster" are 2 of the best albums I've heard in quite a=20 while. Jag Panzer put on a great METAL show. If you were there for tiddly widdly prog noodling, then Event (yawn!) was the band to see.
Sure he looked funny, but he sure could sing!
I mean the dude in Event was wrapped in that saran wrap outfit but it didn't impact his ability to play.

They are a boring power metal band with a chick singer. A interesting enough novelty but not enough to save the bad music behind her. Plus she's got some highly annoying vocal phrasing go on. She thinks she's an opera singer or something. Ick. Not that opera is necessarily icky but that her interpretation of opera is icky. If you dig Gamma Ray and other equal subpar power metal, you might like it. Check out Napster.

Because he's got some kind of romantic notion that it's some kind of showcase designed to get bands noticed and for bands to network. He's really sincere about it too. I think he views it as more like a Foundations Forum than a Woodstock. Fans are a secondary consideration for the most part. And if he does sell a lot of tickets he'd probably have to use a real venue, too. I understand where he's coming from and all, but, like you, would rather see some crowds.

Bwahaha, you must not have read many of my posts in the past if you think I'm a progsnob. :) I hate 95% of prog, though I do like Event's *new* stuff. It has some flair and songwriting to it beyond just mental masturbation, and cool vocals.
I'm open to stuff like what Jag was playing (although these days when I listen to metal I veer more towards stuff in the death/thrash/grindcore vein). The problem was, they did nothing inspiring! It was just the same old same old throwback wannabe metal. I didn't think the singing was that great, although at least he was in key which is more than you can say for most of the suckwads that played there. As a guy I was sitting with said during there set, "if I were still 15 I would have totally gone for it but....not anymore."

How about this bit instead... IF SBT had not pitched such a temper tantrum causing a lot of other acts to lose time, there may have been more people in fornt of the stage. It has nothing to do with wheter the website was accurate or not. IMHO they got what they deserved. If there had been no temper tantrum on SBT's part, they may have had a few more people interested. BAH! It's over now.

Ah, didn't know about the tantrum. That certainly does shed new light on the situation. I must've been over at the 7-11 or something when the whining went down -- what happened?

It *was* a damn shame that an awesome band like Hades only got to play for 30 minutes. But that wasn't a promotional fault...
