Just back from the final show on the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (W. Coast
touring co.) tour. Wow! It was terrific! Chatting with the
principals after the set (they came to the front and autographed for
everyone), it turns out that not only was this an especially good
performance for them, but the audience was the most energetic they'd
seen on the whole tour. And......this was the dreaded Last Show of the
Tour, so there was a lot of onstage silliness at certain points.

    There was the Sombrero.

There was the Rubber Chicken. --And the stuffed? wind-up? mouse.

There were the mysterious "fart-n-burp buddy" noises coming through the
    vocalists' stage monitor.

And of course, the Silly String at the end.

I've posted some pics from the show in this directory:

    http://www.dragoncon.org/private/tso-1200/

--With a write-up to follow. The first four pics were taken before
the show started, and the fifth is of Phil Carter, a longtime
Ytsejammer, in traditional Christmas garb. :)

One security guy said photos were okay, another said no photos were
allowed during the show....but people were taking pics and no-one
complained, so I whipped it out and started taking some pics. Most of
these were shot un-aimed, with the camera held over my head, and the
focus set for wide-field. I wish we could have been a few rows closer.
:) some of them are fuzzier than I'd prefer, probably because I was
being quick and holding the camera over my head to shoot. Lighting was
better than I expected for this digital camera, though. The last photo
shows me and Johnny Lee Middleton III of Savatage after the show.

I'll post a page with descriptions within the next few days. :)

    > DT is an intelligent group, we on this list tend to make them seem >like fuckin hanson or something with the stupidity we present. the crap >subjects that many have written down. and dont think we dont know who >you are, we know exactly who you are. do you think that the groups on >the radio these days can write and play what DT do? and if you think so >then get the hell off this list. WHY?? because you should have some >intelligence to enter an intelligent music groups mailing list... >EINSTEIN.

As much as I'd like to agree with you (and in fact I do agree with a lot of what you said), I have to state something. I so sick of these condescending, self-centered DT fans. OF COURSE we all think that our music is the best, but that doesn't mean that people must not be intelligent if they don't listen to it. It's true that DT does play very challenging music that generally caters to the sophisticated and intelligent music fan, but that does not mean that radio-friendly groups are not intelligent. God...try opening your mind a little bit. I'll even present an example: the band Incubus, which is appreciating great commercial success, is a very deep, diverse, and talented group. Brandon Boyd, their vocalist, is among the best out there today. He's different than James, yes, but is arguable just as good. So are fans who truly appreciate excellent bands such as Incubus ignorant and stupid? No, of course not. You know, as much as I love DT, it can be argued that they are based around simply showing off their advanced musicianship. I do not subscribe to this point of view, but it is most definitely out there. Yes, there is a lot of dumbed-down and shitty music on the radio today, but we all have our tastes and points of view. So don't degrade people who don't necessarily want to praise DT 24/7. If you want a list that does that, go join the Mirror. That's all this very tired and slightly inebriated DREAM THEATER FAN has to say. Goodnight.

Hi All-- As Phil stated in his review, the Atlanta TSO show was great. I talked to Johnny Lee Middleton (Savatage bassist) for awhile after the show as well, and got some random snippets of information. When he wouldn't leak the names of the two replacements in the band, I asked him if they are people we would know. He was pretty emphatic in stating that we would definitely recognize them. I also asked him for a bootleg copy of the new disc, in jest of course, to which he replied that he was literally not allowed to own a CD copy for fear it would leak out early. I asked if they would be continuing with the counterpoint vocals on the new one, and he said they pop up on a couple of songs, but, in his words, "it's pretty much back to the Mountain King days." Hmmmm... Anyway, just wanted to pass this along for those interested.

Hey Guys, This is Denis from Infinity Minus One and we are a new band from Boston that originated at the famous Berklee College of music in that same city. A sincere thank you to everyone that went to our MP3.com website http://mp3.com/infinityminusone and downloaded our new song, "At the Doorway of Existence", and helped make it #1 on the MP3 Progressive Metal Charts! And if you have not yet gone and downloaded and listened to it, then what are you waiting for? ;) It won't take long and it may just be something you're interested in hearing more of. ;) Also, our first 6 track demo CD "Demo 1.0" is available at the same site. Enjoy the songs, and let us know what you think! Happy Holidays to everyone and much success in 2001. Yours In Music, Denis J.
