    Hey all!

I just wanted to post this, in case some of you fellow Rush fans were, up
until now, completely unaware of the on-line petition for getting Rush's
videos released on DVD. Geddy himself said that this would be the best
method to get Atlantic to sit up and take notice and get the ball rollin for
releasing a Different Stages DVD and possibly older stuff as well. It
doesn't take long to fill out and it could very possibly help speed up the
chance of us being able to enjoy Rush's stuff on DVD.

Let's see how many people we can get to sign this thing and make the DVD(s)
    a reality!

I've never liked projection TV screens, so I guess I'll have to hold out for a nice HDTV myself. But I'm hoping even the 56" models will have dropped in price by the time I can afford one.

I've had one for four days now and so far it works pretty well. The remotes are usually a little bare bones, though, and many are of shoddy quality. Sony so far hasn't released a remote for the PS2, so it's all 3rd party. (I have one from Mad Catz and it's pretty good)

You can get an s-video out cable for the PS2, and that along with the digital audio out is probably as good as a low to medium end DVD player. Sure, a videophile will notice the difference, but for basic DVD viewing it should be just fine. If you don't care about surround sound, then you can forego the digital audio cable and just use the normal stereo out.

I haven't heard anything about the DVD part burning out. Probably just jealous Dreamcast owners spreading rumors...

For anyone out there who hasn't yet added The Perfect Element to their cd collection... DO IT!!!!

I didn't really know alot about this band except for what I have read on The Jam, I checked out an mp3 or two, tracked down the disc and haven't looked back. I even managed to find the limited edition double cd with the rare tracks and the enhanced section. Awesome stuff!! No cheese here!! This is prog METAL with an edge!!

DT and co. and best watch their collective backs 'cos these guys are capable of reaching the same heights!

    I'm done! Paul.

Why would a Dreamcast owner have to be jealous of someone with a PlayStation 2? I have both systems and spend much more time on my DC. Maybe the PS2 will surpass the DC with more high quality games, but the only worthy effort I've seen out of PS2 developers is SSX by EA Sports. =20

Ok- I got my dvd player for 159 plus tax. its a Zenith, has DTS processor (not ouput just can process it) Has a lot of cool feautures (Zoom, marker which allows you to mark your 5 fave spots on teh disc and go back to them and anytime.) Cd's sound incredible through it, and the dvd's look great. (I have gladiator, Fight club and teh 6th sense)

Savatage DVD-They are releasing Live in Tokyo on dvd, which was off teh handful of rain tour, which mean swe get alex skolnick on guitar. Sweet. It has like 13 tracks ro something. Same show the live album came from.

To all on the jam, keep your eyes open on the mikeportnoy.com forum general public chat myself and another dude are planning a cdr tree for a very "special" show

I've actually had that show on video for the past few years. It's a great vid... BUT... it's one of those really poorly overdubbed live vids where you can tell that what you are seeing does not synch with the soundtrack. I'd much rather hear how the band actually sounds LIVE!! Warts and all!! Not what magic they can TRY to weave in post production! Sheesh... do these record companies think they can seriously pull the wool over our eyes and make us believe that what we are hearing is actually LIVE??? Otherwise it's not a bad... *ahem* "live" video (soon to be dvd).

    Paul.

NOooooooooooooooo :( Is it really obvious?! :( Does it sound like a studio album and all!? or they just used the live stuff and remastered it in the studio till it was unrecognizable?

There are two reasons. One is that the PS2 had MUCH more hype behind it (and that's all it ended up being, IMHO; hype), and Sega also screwed up a lot more in the past (32x, anyone?) Sony hadn't screwed up until the PS2 (500k launch units? 8MB memory card holding even less in terms of games than the PS1 card? Only one above decent game out thusfar?), so people viewed PS2 as much more "reliable" of an investment than the DC, despite the fact that Sony is still a newcomer in the market.

I don't own a PS2, but I have a few friends who have them, so I play it quite a bit. Dreamcast has much more going for it right now, and comparing launch titles, DC blew PS2 out of the water. Now with 3rd party companies leavy Sony and signing up with microsoft and nintendo, Sony stands to lose on the PS2. And, looking at how they went about marketing and selling it (that was just shitty how they showed screen shots rendered on a computer and claimed it was PS2 graphics), I hope they do lose.

Now, I'm going back to Skies of Arcadia, one of the greatest RPGs I've played.

I've seen Exit Stage Left on DVD at a local shop. It was Japanese and quite expensive and had nothing extra that the video didn't have, so what's the point of the DVD ?

    Greetings ye 'jamanoids...

So I picked up Enchant's "A Blueprint of the World" for Christmas and I'm really liking what I hear. "Wounded" is next on the pick-up list, I think. Does this band have a website? I don't think http://www.enchant.com/ is it. :)

KorgX3, I know you were maintaining a site for them once. Where is it? Or is there an official site? Hell, does the band exist anymore? I heard some of the band members left after "Wounded." True?

Happy New Year a bit early.

    DTC: DT rules.

    cheers, Phil

Phil.... I have 3 Enchant CDs and they are pretty good ! Definitely worth picking up. Good choice. I haven't searched for a web site, however.

The "official" site is here - http://theoasis.cc/ - although it doesn't look like it's been updated in a while.

    You can also try these:

    http://www.progscape.com/ http://www.rcotec.de/enchant/go.html http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Birdland/5221/

It's amazing what you can find with a search engine. ;o)

No it is not...... I have the video too and I really don't know wtf Paul is talking about. I've watched it many times and never noticed anything being out of synch, overdubs or anything else as sinister.
