As I said, DS hasn't been released on DVD or video tape, so that's the
priority. As to other video releases that *have* already been out on video
tape for sometime, there are a couple reasons why:

    1) most (if not all) of the video tapes are long out of print and to dig
them up now means getting a worn out copy or paying a decent chunk of change
on eBay for a used item. Or paying thru the nose for an import copy on DVD.
    :)
    2) for those that do have it on video tape, some would prefer the
(marginally) better quality that DVD offers, as well as having a copy of the
release that will never wear out (much as we moved from cassettes to CDs)

True - but at least in the case of the Polygram/Mercury stuff, explain why
they put out Chronicles and more recently the Retrospective CDs (as well as
all the remasters) if they thought they wouldn't make a profit. Since DVDs
are becoming more and more popular, and most Rush fans buy everything they
can as soon as possible, it would stand to reason that the labels would be
doing themselves a dis-service by not putting them out domestically on DVD.

    > Anyway, I'll check to see what other Rush titles are available on Jap DVD.

Sounds good to me - can you also tell me how much they cost? (I cringe at
    the thought, but am curious).

The ESL DVD is $89.95 aus, roughly $50.24 US$.

Rush might not be that big of an artist, but they have certified Gold
records (at LEAST) on all their releases. Now, Britney Spears wouldn=B4t =
    be
intimidated by a "Gold record" band, but the fact is that these guys have
been around for a LONG time, and every time they release something, it se=
    lls
pretty decently. So if there=B4s something holding any DVD release at all=
    ,
IMO, is the band itself. Not that they dont want to, but its taking them
forever to do it.......cant really say anything, because of Neil=B4s
condition. This is concerning the DS release. About the others (ASoH, ESL=
    ,
GUP), they should cram them together on a DVD i say...i wish........

Well, :P then. It'd take me forever to actually design something that would contain all the letters... I thought about it, but especially after Gilberto said that he'd designed a DT font with all the letters (and there are MORE than 26 letters in a font; let's not forget about punctuation, special characters, etc.), I figured it wasn't necessary for me to finish the DT logo font.

The question is, though: Does Gilberto have the Majesty symbol in his font? :)

    hi there jammers !

i would like to make a "secondary" dt discography with all the midis in dt.net ... but i would like to have them in audio cd format ... do you know any way of getting mp3's or .wav's from the original .mid file? (i want them in audio cd format because midis are great to sing alone, and i love singing dt in my shower each morning ;-)

i also would appreciate a lot that someone out there could transcript the spoken parts os 5YIALT, because many of us (non english speakers ...) can't understand those spoken parts ... to any american or english guy it should be a little and quickly job, and it will let many of us understand better the video ...

who is the people that appear on the video (5YIALT)... ??????? i can recognize steve morse, maybe rob halford, vinnie paul from pantera (humm, have you noticed that in the part of mp talking with vinnie there is a guy behind them kissing in the mouth to another guy ? huhh !!!)

some weeks ago, a guy asked which was the way that we would like dream theater to go in their new album ... humm, i would like dream theater's next album to be like one song i heard yesterday ... this is the one that have shocked me strongest since i discovered dt ... which is this song? (you HAVE to hear it ...) its authors are tera kostaaman (or something like this ...) and sami virtaanen ... (who are them ???) it is the song which plays in the demo of a computer program named 3dmark2000 (a benchmark for your graphics system...) and it is REALLY amazing ... if you haven't heard it, you should download the program (www.madonion.com) and play the demo ... huh, it would be really cool that dt could sound like it ... the dream theater of the 21st century yeah !!

last ... hey doublejay, haven't heard you for a while ... did my emails arrive (i am julio.fucios@rai.usc.es, but my account is down ..)

if you haven't heard the song i refer to ... you should do it ... i guess it will shock you as it did to me ...

    regards from compostela ...

Well, on a different note, POS is a very talented band and innovative, yet I find their music boring. Every song is pretty much the same tempo and it just never breaks out of their droll. I have all their stuff too. Someone said if I saw them live I would like em better... I dunno, we'll see...

If you like EoT, get Handful of Rain. If you like that, try Streets and/or Gutter Ballet, and keep working backwards through their catalog until you find more stuff that you think sucks. :-)

If Wake of Magellan grows on you, get Dead Winter Dead. IMHO, it's their best, but it's closer to tWoM than to EoT in sound, so you may not like it.

I issued my demands in a ransom note to the government... Their only reply was, "We'll give you the $100,000 if you'll keep them!" What does THAT tell ya??

Sami Virtanen is a popular guitarist from Finland. He has played in Episode (covers band with Stratovarius vocalist Timo Kotipelto), Warmen (Children Of Bodom keyboardist Janne Wirmen side project) and a few others. I can highly recommend Warmen 'Unknown Soldier' if your into great shredding instrumental, great guitar and keys solo's, but also has Sinergy's Kimberly Goss singing on 2 songs.

    The tune is great

I agree, 'The Perfect Element' is boring, as good as it is, it's very one dimensonal. I have seen them live and they were great, however none of their albums matched their on stage performance.

I second that, a great live album.
