If anyone is in the Albany, NY area on Saturday night...Aztec Jade is
playing Michael's in West Sand Lake. As I mentioned in a previous
PS, I got a new job recently and it turns out Aztec Jade bassist
Bryan Kowalski works at the same place. A real cool guy who found it
hard to believe that I actually LIKED their music. I had to name a
few songs off and then he believed me. He also had no idea that some
of you folks here on the Jam like his band. Again, it took some
major convincing! He was very appreciative. They are almost
finished with their new CD. Of course they have contributed "Another
Day" to the Dream Theater tribute CD. Check out their NEW web site
at http://www.aztecjade.com/ and see Bryan's work (a web guy). And
pick up one of their CDs: "Frame Of Mind" or "Modern Prophet".

Okay, I got several responses to my request for help, so I'm going to post
the public information on how you can help me out.

You can download the file here: http://cout.dhs.org/acos.mid
You can download a reference MP3 here (the one I recorded from MY
    soundcard): http://cout.dhs.org/acos.mp3

That is what I have tried to get it to sound like, according to my sound
card. It is what you should reference your recording against.

When you have made your recording, you can upload it via FTP to
cout.dhs.org, with a username of 'ytsejam' and using your email address as
your password. You can upload right to the directory that you get logged
into. You can also download any files that might have been uploaded
already into the directory, to see how your sound card matches up to other
peoples' cards or to their synths :)

To those people who offered help, you have my thanks. :)

As a matter of fact, this was going to be my next project after A Change
of Seasons, but it's going to be quite a while, judging on how long it's
taken me to work on this particular song.

So though it may be a while, I'll let you know when I plan on beginning
    this project.

I'm going to be there, and yes, the 9:30 club is going to rock. Was there

Okay, 'Nightguest' isn't a live track, it's a studio outtake from the
    'Oceanborn' sessions.
The song is also found on the 'Walking In The Air' CD single.
The version with the 3 extra tracks is the French 'Limited European Tour
    Edition' of
'Oceanborn', the tracks which are, 'Nightguest', Sleeping Sun' (which is
    also on the newer pressings
of 'Oceanborn' and 'A Return To The Sea' which is on the original collectors
    edition of 500 only
of 'Angles Fall First' CD, special 7 track album.
'Sleeping Sun' was also released as a single in Germany only last year.
You got all that :) ?
I got my copy with the 3 bonus tracks from the Spinefarm label manager when
    I was in Finland
so I have no idea if it's still available, I doubt it.

Yes collecting the various versions of this great CD is becoming an
    expensive habit :)

    >P.P.S. Still waiting for a reasonably priced version of Lemur Voice's

That would be 'Divided', great CD, I think www.moremetal.com has it for a

I was at a Primus concert in London and Les asked how many bass players were in
the Audience, picked one and invited him up to the stage to finish playing Tommy
The Cat, this guy was unfortunately crap, so he invited another who just stood
the in amazement wearing Les's bass, so Les finished the song playing the bass
as this other guy was just stood there wearing it. Cool night.

    Fellow Jammers,

In 1997 a lot of fuzz was made about 'Black Light Syndrome', made by Bozzio,
Levin, Stevens. Really fantastic stuff !!! I wondered if anybody knows if
Bozzio's drum setup can be found on the net. He seems to use cymbals similar
to the MAx Stax that Mister MP is about to release with Sabian... Anybody an
idea ? An answer would really be appreciated !!!

Hello, all. Although I don't see any way that I'm going to be able to make it to the Atlanta show, I'm thinking about driving to Orlando or West Palm Beach to catch the SFaM tour. If anyone is familiar with the venues that DT will be playing in any of these three towns (the Tabernacle in Atlanta, the House of Blues in Orlando, and the Pompano Beach Amphitheater), could you please let me know a bit of info about them? Private email is fine, but I don't think I'm the only one trekking a long way to see these shows, so a little DT venue content won't hurt the jam :)

The Bay City Rollers. No question about it.

I saw The Cult at The Tabernacle in Atlanta back in August. The Tabernacle is an old church that was converted into a concert venue. During the '96 Olympics it was opened as a House of Blues. It then closed for a while and re-opened as The Tabernacle. There is a small stage in the cellar and the larger mainstage upstairs. It's a pretty large venue. Certainly much larger than The Masquerade where DT played on the FII tour. The floor slopes a bit so that you can get a pretty good view from wherever you might be. There is also a balcony, but I don't know much about the view up there. It's a nice place to see a concert. I was hoping they would choose The Tabernacle for the Met 2000 tour! You can visit The Tabernacle online at http://www.tabernaclemusic.com/.

Good flick. It's over 3 hours long though.

Hey jam people, I just got my copy of the March Modern Drummer and there is a great big one page spread on Winning Mike's LTE setup. (it's not his original kit obviously but it is a brand new Tama Starclassic kit with all the cymbals and all his new Max cymbals and stuff...and all the DW gear... WOW!) You gotta go out and pick up a copy. I would love (and I'm sure Mike would too) it if someone from the jam won it... maybe even me!

His Max cymbal lines are out also! They look awesome and I plan to purchase them as soon as I can... www.sabian.com

Magnolia is the best film I've seen this year. OK, it's the only film I've seen this year (hey, the year is less than a month old) but it's still damn good entertainment. It does clock in at the over 3 hour mark, but it zips right along so you don't really notice the length.

I have a review half-written that I'll post on my site sometime soon, if I can get a bunch of other nonsense out of the way. I used to write movie reviews all the time, and sort of got out of the habit. Plus, I was supposed to write reviews for a new site (for actual money!) that never got off the ground. So I guess I'll start doing them myself again.

I'm sure this is now far more information than you wanted about me, so I'll just say go see Magnolia if you like original filmmaking, as opposed to films that spring from either lame-assed TV shows or as an excuse to expand the action-figure selection at Toys R Us.

    Warning! Shameless plug ahead:

Magnolia is so far the best movie of 1999... I still have a few films left to see. You can read a review on my website at www.pi-r-squared.com/brad/ go to movies. Audacious, well done, intelligent, and entertaining. I will say, however, that it is NOT for everybody. It's one of those love it or hate it flick. In the three times that I've seen it we've ranged from nearly 20 people walking out to a bunch of people near applauding at the end.
