            hello jammas,

            I have a question. (again)
Does Petrucci have personalized guitar picks yet? Last time
(infinity tour) I got one of his jazz III-s. But I can't tell which was his,
    which are mine!
Anyway, the guy needs to get some of his own picks.

It would fit in my collection nicely: Kerry King (used by KK),
James Hetfield (mint), Dave Mustaine (mint), the Sambora dude
and that Johhnie guy (mint), Aaron Aedy (not personalized mint
    Gibson M).

            well "yo" to all
            Tibor

ps thanks for all the damn the machine replies

    Hi all

let's see if this one makes it - all of my past mails
to the list have fallen into a big black hole somewhere.

OK, I'm still alive, but very overworked, which is why
I've done no reviews this year, and why people haven't
heard much from me this year. However, this will be
changing in the next couple of weeks.

Last night I had one of my best concert experiences in
over 25 years of going to see bands. Anathema played
in the Hafenbahn in Offenbach, Germany. The gig was
set up at very short notice, with the result that only
50 or so people turned up - but what a show the boys
put on. They played almost all of the last album
"Judgement" and the highlights from "Alternative 4" and
"Eternity" as well as some songs from "The Silent
Enigma". Everything was spot on, and the songs came over
a lot heavier than on the albums. The encores were
big surprises - excellent covers/interpretations of
"Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd and "Something In The
Way" by Nirvana. Other memorable things include playing
soccer with the guys before the gig, and having Daniel
Cavanagh play an acoustic version of "One Last Goodbye"
for an audience of one (me).

    stay safe and happy listening

No Andy, I meant his dates in South America have been cancelled, not
his dates in the southern parts of the US... It's in his website, he
(or whoever maintains the site) apologizes for cancelling them and
says that he hopes to be back down here soon... Anyway...

    Cheers,

OH MY GOD!!!! The show freekin' KICKED ASS!!! They played a couple LTE
songs, "Hourglass" and "State of Grace", and and bunch of new stuff
including a song Petrucci wrote to his wife before they were married.
]From eavesdropping in on the conversation between Petrucci, Rudess, and
the sound guy, it sounds like it's gonna be released as a cd, or at least
    as part of one.

Official pronunciation of "Rudess" - "rude" "us" with the accent on
    "rude". It rhymes with "Brutus"

    Stupid me, I didn't buy a t-shirt - anybody know if they're gonna be
    available on the UACM site?

    -Dan.

yeah, I was at that one. The bouncers wre only barring professional
cameras. All the pocket sized cameras were allowed.

Petrucci / Rudess - A couple flash photos were taken, but not many,
and nobody seemed to care. I put electrical tape over my flash. After
the show, a guy said that he actually got a camcorder (it was one of
those big, full-size vhs ones) in there inside his backpack, but didn't
pull it out so it wouldn't get taken.

ditto. I don't see why people get so antsy about it. All it is is free
    publicity for the band.

Hey all, I have heard a couple mentions of the new Steve Morse album as if
people already have it. Both CDNow and Amazon list it as a preorder with a
    release date of 7/11/2000.

So what's the deal? Is "Major Impact" out yet?

Well, I spoke to Neal Peart about 2 months ago and he said that Rush is
currently working on new material and a new CD is due out be late 2000 to
    early 2001.

Yeah, that's what Terry Brown mentioned to me over tea and crumpets last
month. He said that although they overlooked him as the possible
engineer for the project, he'll probably be helping Ged out with the vox
for that album. He also said that it was the hypnotist that killed
Nicholas at the end of Finally Free and you would have to be an idiot
not to have figured that out.

If you happen to be going to the Devin Townsend show in Vancouver B.C. = next week, you may not want to read this.

Just got back to Portland from Devin's show in Victoria this past Saturday = night, and let me first say it was well worth the trip. He's been on tour = with Strapping Young Lad in Canada as the support act for some other = canadian metal band whom I haven't heard of, but he's the headliner for = the two shows in Victoria and Vancouver. In addition to the SYL stuff, he = had two keyboardists playing with him, and played stuff from Ocean = Machine, Infinity, and the new CD Physicist. I spoke with him a little = bit before the show, he's a very cool, down-to-earth guy, besides being a = musical genius. He said that with Physicist, he wanted to make a more = focused straight-ahead rock album, because with Infinity people thought he = went too many different directions. If you don't have it already, = Physicist is fucking epic, go to his website and order it. That's the = easiest way of getting it.

Anyway, Devin is just a madman on stage, and Gene Hoglan has got to be one = of the most insanely fast drummers I've ever seen live. I don't remember = the exact order of the setlist, but it included-

SYL stuff: Velvet Kevorkian, All Hail the New Flesh, Oh My Fucking God, = Detox, Home Nucleonics, Underneath the Waves, S.Y.L, In the Rainy Season, = Far Beyond Metal

]From Ocean Machine: Seventh Wave, Regulator

]From Infinity: Truth, War, the intro to "om"

    ]From Physicist: Namaste, Material
