to all of you SF folk:
Luis Maldonado is showcasing this Friday the 16th of June at the Hotel Utah on 4th street, with Tim Alexander (Primus) on drums and Jon Evans (Tori amos) on bass.
Luis is a world class guitarist/singer songwriter. He's also a close friend of mine, which is why I'm plugging this show.
Come check it out.

Neither. He brings his guitar with him to the crapper(gives new meaning
to the phrase "power squat"! hahahahahahaha) so he can keep his chops
up. He's got a monkey shackled to the floor that takes care of wiping,
flushing, and "situations". This monkey was the first to hear ACOS in
it's entirety.

For someone as close to God as Ricardo, he sure asks a lot of naive
questions...
Anyhoo, I just picked up the new Glass Hammer and it pretty much rocks. The
singer gets on my nerves a little, but I am coping. The keyboards are so busy
all over this album. Plus it has a funny story (concept album about a guy who
listens to too many concept albums? brilliant.).
Go to glasshammer.com and download the two mp3s they have.

That's what you need to do - email Bredius. Now, I can provide plenty of
server space for your pics - how much depends on where the tatoo is. :-)

Lately, most of the time that I want to listen to Primus, I throw in
Rhinoplasty. Primus has to be one of the best cover bands I've
heard. "The Thing That Should Not Be" rocks me every time.

What are they like? From everything I've heard about them, I expect
to like them, but I'm hesitant to drop 17 bucks on a band I've never
heard. Comparisons?

Hey, where's that tattoo? Depending on location, you might get more money submitting the picture to a different web site. ;)

Hey, I was reading the last jam about the QR/DT tour that fell through, well that isn't true. Queensryche is a bunch of fucking liars and assholes. You can read Mike's post in the mp.com forum under RUMOR:Maiden and Queensryche touring by silentman72. It started out him being excited, until Mike posted VERY naught words in refernce to queensryche. I thought it was pretty funny, but now the QR vs DT thing is stronger than ever. Here's what happened basically:
The tour was almost set in stone. At the last minute QR said they wanted to not tour and go back in the studio. DT had a backup of touring with Maiden, so it was no big deal. Next thing you know, QR gets the spot for Maiden, lying to DT. We all know members of QR (esp Kelly) don't like DT so im thinking this is a personality difference than anything else. So now DT is left without a tour, but Mike said they will most likely take Spock's Beard out now in August, which to me would still be a killer show :)
I have lost a shitload of respect for Queensryche, this gives me the impression that they are becoming "rock stars" again, hell Geoff is gonna be on the list on VH1.

Hey JAMmers Reading the last few posts I have come across some kickass music I probably wouldn't have otherwise, such as Dragon-Heart and Anathema, and for that I say Thanks. In gratitude I thought I would recommend some stuff I bought the other day. First Power Symphony, pretty kickass (yes I meant to say "pretty" 'cause they got a female vocalist) Remember Warlock? I'm not sure where they're from yet,but based on the lady's accent they sound European. (anyone know ? ) Also check out Snapcase at www.snapcase.com the songs are short 3-4 minutes or so,but the aggression is there. and if you like the Heavy Metal 2000 soundtrack, check out One Minute Silence (they got a dot com too )
I also got a question and a suggestion. What the Hell does Mer de Noms mean ? And in response to the Lestat score I say How about Trans-Siberian Orchestra I nominate Jon Oliva for Marius and Zak Stevens for Armand (screw Antonio) Forget Johnathan Davies (sp?) someone call Anne and get her on the phone with Paul O'Neill !! OK enough name dropping from me (this time ) PEACE !! Billy.

The birthday Concert is a great album if your into live stuff. There's a lot of great horns on there too. Another one that i would recomend is Weather Report, HEavy Weather. Jaco was in a band called Weather Report before the solo stuff. It's also a great album, very jazzy. Some of the keys are pretty cheezy though, it was made in the 70's, go figure.

> I was just wondering........what gauge strings does JP use?? Also, what > gauge do you folks suggest for use. I play shreddin stuff but i also play > more bluesy stuff too and im just lookin to see other opinions and whatnot. > reply if ya can,
Most shredders use 9s, although some use 10s (I think Yngwie uses 10s). You should have no trouble attaining good speed on 10s, but bending can be a little tougher. You could compensate by tuning down half a step. Of course some blues players like Stevie Ray Vaughan obtained phenomenal speed and bending ability on 13s, but you would have to be crazy to attempt this yourself. I use 10s because the 9s feel to thin and weedy. Besides playing with heavier guage strings can stop one from playing fast all the time, which isn't neccessarily a bad thing. Oh, and D'Addario is generally the best and safest brand, but don't be afraid to experiment with other brands.

Korg (or Krog) may think he is a lot of things, but a professional wrestler is not one of those. As long as his topics are RELEVANT he can refer to himself in whatever way he chooses.
> I agree with Gaz (aside from his gross butchering of the word "ton") --
Welcome to the twenty first century America (ducks). In most developed countries the metric system is now in use, so the word tonne is the correct word. Previously a ton weighed 2,240 lbs, except in America where it weighed 2000 lbs. If one uses it in a metric sense it is taken to mean 1000 kg. A tonne weighs 1000 kg, which is the equivelant of 2,205 lbs

Has anyone heard of FuckedCompany.com? It's a site that I put up a week ago and it's had over a million hits so far and is the media-sensation-of-the-minute. So they interviewed me on CNN today (the interview was about 30 seconds, so I'm still entitled to 14:30 minutes of fame) at my office and I put a lyric sheet to SFAM on my desk hoping that it would show up. Anyway, you could sorta see it, but barely. Anyway I tried.

Poison started off their tour tonight in Hershey, Pa. It was an excellent concert, the openers were: Slaughter, Drokken, and Cinderella. Slaughter and Drokken didn't really need to be there, but Cinderella just ripped it up. I have to be honest, I never really liked Poison that much cause they seemed so produced, but they really put on a good show. Its good to hear all that plain old rock music live again. C.C is so insane, he sounds like a crazy munchkin when he talks, i think he was playing on his back more than on his feet. Bret decided to destroy one of his guitars and then threw it into the crowd. VH1 was taping the show for a special that will be on later this summer. After seeind DT 2 times this year, all other concerts just don't compare, but i still enjoyed it. Speakin of DT concerts, I talked to some dude tonight that said DT is supposed to come back to Philadelphia some time this year. Anybody eles heard of anything like this?

JP uses Earnie Ball Super 10's. He used to play 9's Daddario until sometitime around when they started to work on FII. 9's are a safe easy way to go and most people use them, but 10's DO sound better, you get more tone out of them. I have 11's on my EC strat and they are great, but hose might be a bit stiff to those who aren't used to them. I say put 10's on your geetar, sweat with them for a while but when you get used to them, you'll never look back.
Matej, progressed all the way up to heavyass bass strings, seriously :)
