    hi!
i have some dream theater related questions i would like you to answer ...
(i want to know everything about them !!!! :))

    so, the questions are:

    1. what are the names of the guys that appear with dt on the bus in the
video OIALT and what does mp says? (i'm not english, so i don't understand a
    lot ...)

    2. who are the guys that appear in the backstage images in OIALT?

    3. i've been told about some dt's alike bands ... lemur voice, dali's
dilemma, superior, pain of salvation ... what do you think about them?

    4. where could i buy some material from these bands on the internet (i'm
    spanish)?

    5. i am desperately searching the lie single ... is there anybody out there
that could sell me it or burn me a copy? (i would pay for a cdr ..) if you
are european or even spanish, it would be better, but if not, please email
    me ...

so, those were the questions... if you can answer some of the, thanks a lot

    Hey jammers,

QR's Empire album was all about this new technological world and environment and such, listen
to Empire, Jet City Women, Another Rainy Night, etc. I'm probably diving into this too much --
but I always took the cover as representing this new computer error, etc, etc. It's not a graphical error...
    Ha.

Yep, Yep, Platypus definetly has been borrowing from other tunes,
but it's all good. They go with it, jam on it, and try and make it
something new. I'm still not a huge fan, some of their tracks on "When
Pus Comes To Shove" are extremely weak in content. But that's just my feeble opinion.

    >>>Mr. Brian Larkin wrote....
    >>>DTC: How about some speculations on the next album?

Wow, to tell you the truth DT has surprised, impressed, and craved my prog ear on every album they've
released thus far so I have really no expectations. I would like to see a return to the I&W days of free wheeling
songs -- but AWAKE was just so damn good....this is like trying to ask me what's my favorite Led Zepp song.
I love and listen to each DT album with an appreciation for every lyric every word. This is getting corny...

But If I had a wish list:

    - I would like to see more Myung presence in the songs, more bass driven "Levin in LTE" type grooves.
    - Definetly more acoustic tracks.
    - A duet between James and a female singer would be fabulous.
    - Some orchestration but not too over the top.
    - I would like to hear (this is interesting) a jam session with James improving. Led Zeppelin did this a lot and even
    Extreme was known
    to do this.
would be fun to hear -- but that's maybe too clase to LTE stuff. Kind of along the lines of "Long Island Express".

I have one expectation though -- just one -- that the last track of the album is a master pice of epic proportions ie:
    Learning To Live,
    Space Dyed Vest,
    Trial of Tears,
    One Last Time

They've gotta fulfill that one thing at least. They just gotta! (turning into a little kid)

Ya'know I'm really lovin' Spock's Beard V album, great disc and I have to admit that it's gotten me to listen
to TransAtlanic a lot more. WHen I first bought TrabsAtlantic I was not too crazy about it -- a little too different,
so it sat on my shelf for a good number of weeks and now it's back in the player thanx to the Spock album.
It's great to open and develope musical tastes -- so fulfilling. Still hear a lot of "Beatles" in the Spock and Trans
albums. Any of you guys get the special edition!? Great little 4 or 5 min mpeg movie on the last track showing the
    making of the album.

    Okay, alas, I'm done.
    talk to you all soon,
    andy

    Answer to #4: WWW.CDNOW.COM

Answer to #5: Lie single....check out WWW.CDNOW.COM or WWW.MIKEPORTNOY.COM I think I saw it for sale there before..

Opinions: Dali's Dilemma : Great band! Very much in tune with a heaver DT Images & Words

Lemur Voice : Great band! Heavy and beautiful progressive metal

Superior : One of my favorites! First album "behind" is very heavy, awesome. Second album "Younique" is a little more melodic metal with greatness.

Pain of Salvation : Pretty good band. I'm listening to their NEW CD entitled "The Perfect Element". It's pretty good. My first exposure to this band.

Andreas..... I'm listening to the new Pain of Salvation CD "The Perfect Element" and they DO NOT come anywhere CLOSE to topping Symphony X.

    Nowhere close to Symphony X

It's good music (my first exposure to the band POS) but it's not in the same league as SymX!

Well spoken Dave! I definitely agree. Pain of Salvation totally dominates the prog-metal genre at the moment. Resistance is futile, and everyone wh= o disagrees are wrong ;o) -- Andreas Skarin Svenska Dream Theater S=E4llskapet http://www.sdts.nu - mailto:sdts@sdts.nu

I would say these two bands are like apples and oranges.. symphonyX are the masters at what they do which is heavy symphonic power metal with progressive touches ...but if youre not into that ( im sort of in between ) you wont really get anything from them.. honestly, i have the new SymX and i have twilight at olympus...and theyre pretty similar, except for the orchestra, both these albums couldve been written simultaneously (same time period) because they just sound too alike.

Pain of salvation is NOTHING alike IMO. Theyre not among my favorites, but at least they dont have a certain cheesyness factor that steers me away from SymX and the like (neoclassic power progressive bands). PoS is more of a darker band, focusing more on the heavyness than the pompous progressive flurry of notes and solos.. and theyre very emotional. Mind you, i only own One hour by the concrete lake, so im not one of those militant POS fans ....

Im just giving an outsiders opinion, because im not a "Fan" of either bands...but own discs from both...

I think D.C. Cooper isn't available and wouldn't join the band even if he was available. I can't think of anyone to sing in Sava, but there has to be someone!!!!! Suggestions?

    Seb Bach! :)

Actually, this project is supposed to be released very soon now, trading bootlegs of it would be really uncool. Wait a couple of days, buy this gem and let our guys earn a couple of dimes...

Sorry, didn't know that. Of course I'd buy the real one when it comes out.
