Yeah, I'll be there. I think I'm in the 10th row or so on the floor. I saw
Trans-Siberian Orchestra last winter in Chicago and they were phenomenal --
it wasn't the best concert I've ever seen, but it *was* the best show my
four friends had seen. This one should be good, although I'm a little
concerned they've "sold out", for lack of a better term.
One thing that was interesting about the Chicago show was the audience. A
number of them were young metalheads wearing t-shirts from Savatage,
Metallica, etc. A number of them were middle-age couples dressed up
expecting a night at the opera. The rest, like us, were in between. TSO
managed to draw the attention of both sides of their fan base, and blew us
all away.
With the new release, though, it feels like TSO is trying to mimic their
earlier successful songs in order to gain radio play, a fan base, etc.
However, in the process, their music feels "stagnant" -- they haven't
progressed beyond their 1996 sound. The Cranberries and Creed had this same
problem. They both put out extremely good albums, and followed those up
with albums which tried to sound exactly the same. It's frustrating,
because the newer releases lack the creativity and originality found in the
original albums. With TSO, the lack of originality alienates the rock fan
base in favor of the "orchestral crowd" (for lack of a better term).
Well, that's my rant for tonight. Any thoughts?

ROTFLMAO!
This was the best jam in quite some time. This along with Korg's dream and
the masturbation at the end...
About dreams...I had one the other night that I actually hooked up with this
girl I'm trying to hook up with. We were at some football game in the
bleachers and who is sitting next to us? James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich and
Jason Newsted. Kirk must not like football.

I'll be at the gig as well - maybe this time we'll actually meet up!
Check out Dragonheart's site www.dragonheart.net to see what they are like - there's all the tracks from their demo to download in various formats and some video clips as well.
Anyone one going to Uli Roth/UFO gig at the Astoria on Sunday?
Cheers

Korg makes a brilliant return to the list with a classic post and a brand spankin' new address [stinkfist@digitalfeces.com]. I wish I could be as cool as he.
JM: >Who the heck is MANDATEMI PIU anyway??
I realize you were kidding, however, it would have been nicer to write him directly and tell him how to unsubscribe. For those unskilled in reading foreign languages, "Manda" is the imperative of "mandare: to send," the following bits are the pronouns in order. In the same way that "Scusatemi" means "(you) Excuse me," this means "(you) send me." "Piu" is "more."
Thus concludes today's lecture on form and grammar in Italian. Stay tuned for tomorrow's nail-biting installment when I explain how to conjugate "Mierda" in Spanish.

I can't wait for *that* lesson, "mierda" being a noun, not a verb :)

The ads are sometimes on the bottom sometimes on top. And the eGroups are letting you keep the ads out for a fee, of course. I don't know how much money does Skadz pays for this list, but it's about $60 (per year) for a no ads list on eGroups.

>From Tracy Vera, a VP at Metalblade:
Gentlemen
Thanks to all your efforts it appears I have finally got this Skipping Symphony X CD problem sorted out. There was a problem in packaging the CD's which created a circular scratch on the play side of the disc, which is causing the skipping. This didn't happen on all the CD's but rather is intermittent, which is why it took so long to discover the problem. (The manufacturer had to get a hold of an actual defective disc.)
I want the fans to be happy. So I have arranged with the manufacturer that if someone got stuck with a skipping CD and they prefer not to return it to the store they purchased it at, the defective disc can be returned to the manufacturer. Later today I should have the specific info on where and to whom to return the disc.
Once again I must ask your help. Please disseminate this information on your respective lists and sites and tell me who else I should get the information to. Obviously we will also post the info on the Metal Blade website.
Thanks again!

On December 13 we (Wolverine) will upload our new official HP that we feel will be much better than the current one. It will offer a lot more features and it will be updated much more frequent than the current one.
Be sure to update your bookmarks and pay us a visit, it would be very much appreciated.
Take care!
