I remember years and years ago listening to Michael Buffer on the Howard
Stern radio show (when it was still airing in Dallas) that Michael Buffer
had the rights to that phrase and his lawyers even back then were going
after people that mentioned that phrase without permission. It's
interesting to see he's still pursuing that.

What with live videos and DVDs and all that:

DT are succesfully emulating their heroes. Like YES, they seem incapable of holding down one keyboard player; and like Floyd, the treble their profits by accompanying every release with a plethora of live versions.

    :(
    Well, y'know. Just a thought.

    Hi all

work dictates that I can't post as frequently as I
would like (preparing to introduce the new SVG graphics
format into our products), but I just bought 2 live
albums that I simply have to recommend:

    KAMELOT - The Expedition
VANDEN PLAS - Spirit Of Live

Don't ask, just go and buy them! You won't be
disappointed. Khan's vocal performance reminded me why
he is one of my favourite vocalists on the metal scene.
Stephan Lill's guitar work is close to perfect. And
a special mention for two great keyboard performances
by Guenter Werno (he plays on both albums). Talking
of Guenter Werno, go check out the new Elegy album
"Forbidden Fruit" because he does a grand job there
    as well.

Oh, and Khan says "Let's get ready to rumble" in the
introduction to the track "Millenium" so let's sue
    the shit out of him!

    stay safe and happy listening

Damn! People complain one way or the other. Fans asked for a SFaM "movie,"
DT gives us an AMAZING show at Roseland, records it and Mike spends his
"down time," time he could be spending with his kids, working on this
DVD/video. Still people have the guts to complain.

Buddy, if you're feeling ripped off, don't buy the damn thing. I sure as
hell will be (and multiple copies, to boot!)

based on everyone's advise, I'll do the head unit. I was afraid that it
wouldn't sound any different until I also replaced the speakers but I
    guess that's not the case.

I've been thinking about getting an Apex at Circuit City. They were
recommended over at mikeportnoy.com, have a nice price tag attached to them
and they can play CD-Rs and mp3s.

If I were to offer you any advice, it would be to wait as long as you can to
buy the player. It seems that prices go down almost daily. So If you're
waiting for the Roseland DVD, get the player the day before it comes out!

versatile yes, but not good quality...

I'd go for a sony.. You can't go wrong. And get one with DTS so that you
can get a nice DTS surround sound system..

    by the way...

SFAM-DVD better be in DTS =)

Eh, I would say lack of posting if this wasn't the
'jam... seeing so little activity is REALLY weird -
granted, I'm not an old old-timer, but since #23xx

Well, I say that everyone walk around saying that
phrase, and if you get a chance say over public
broadcasting systems.... They can't sue everyone.

Oh really, why don't you ask Metallica?

    Sorry couldn't resist....

    Oooooh baby.

I just got T'Pau - The Greatest Hits. Well, it was only =A33.99. Total
nostalgia trip! I am sitting here almost with tears in my eyes rememberin=
    g
my early teens, friends I haven't spoken to in years, places I haven't
been back to, etc. That period of my life has a T'Pau and Def Leppard
soundtrack, so whenever I hear anything by either of these bands I get al=
    l
    emotional. :-) =

I was also utterly in love with Carol Decker when I was about 14. I was 1=
    6
when I eventually discovered the joys of Metal, largely thanks to a rogue=

Iron Maiden song (Can I Play With Madness?) which somehow found its way
onto one of those pop compilations I borrowed from my little sister.

Playstation 2 sucks right now. I've played it multiple times now, and I can
tell you, Dreamcast is 200x better in terms of game quality at the moment.
Granted, that could change, but no need to spend that much money on PS2 with
crap games when you could wait for a price drop when there are better. Don't
waste your money getting a PS2 on release day.

Besides, they can't even make their own system right. They didn't order the
right # of parts, so they halved the number of PS2s being shipped on reease.
They think 500,000 is enough, especially after stores already got the number
they were going to get from the 1,000,000 shipment? Retarded.

Anyways, that's just my take on it. I'll get PS2, of course; But I'll wait
for a price drop and some good games.

All I have read are fairly poor reviews of the Apex unit... go
cruise through the Home Theater hardware forum at
    http://www.dvdresource.com/forum/index.shtml

Well, most DVD players that feature DTS just pass it through, so
you'd better make sure your receiver can decode DTS as well (if that is an
option you care for) I have the Sony DVP-S550D DVD player and I love it.
Coupled with a DTS receiver (European Sony model STR-DB930), movies with a
good DTS soundtrack really kick (the difference between Saving Private Ryan
in DTS and regular DD5.1 is pretty noticeable)...

Yeah... especially if they did some of the cool things liek in the
King Crimson DVD... isolation of a particular player via video angle and
sound (very cool to hear and see what each member is up to)...

So I guess that this would set a precedent enabling any band/artist to sue if
someone was to sing along to a cd or the radio?!?!?!

Another reason to by a DVD player....

    Nightwish to Release a DVD!

Late breaking news reveal that Nightwish has signed a contract with
Spinefarm Records to release a DVD. This is the first time a
Finnish band releases a full-time DVD live video.

In addition to the complete gig to be played in Tampere, Finland on
the 29th of December, the DVD will include all the videos Nightwish
has released so far, plus clips from the South American tour and
the upcoming European tour. These clips mean backstage scenes,
interviews and other things that will surely grab the interest of fans.

The Tampere gig will be shot with 5 or 6 cameras and the sound
will be recorded with no sacrifices to the quality, possibly with the
expertise of Mikko Karmila. The post-production of the sound track
will be done at the Finnvox studios in Helsinki.

The DVD is planned to be released in April 2001, roughly at the
same time as the new MCD by Nightwish.
