I have both, so probably I'm neutral enough to comment :

Yes, the PS2 seems to be a development nightmare, at least up to about a
month ago. I have five games (Ridge Racer V, Primal Rage, Tekken Tag
Tournament, FIFA Soccer 2001, and Dead Or Alive 2). All are so-so, and
leaves questions. RRV for example, is that all the machine can do ? TTT is
nice, but actually just good ol' Tekken in new clothing. FIFA Soccer'
graphics is jaw-dropping. That is, until you notice that everybody looks
Japanese. And the gameplay is .. well, like the others in the series.
(Nothing beats Konami's soccer engine). To be fair, I think the problem has
been solved to some extent. Take a look at Metal Gear Solid 2 demo for
proof. I guess we'll just have to wait for October 26th (PS2 launch date =
SFAM launch date, notice that ?).
I do play a lot more Dreamcast these days, simply because it has more games,
and GOOD games ! Sega naysayers please check out Virtua Tennis (for the
amazing gameplay) and Ecco The Dolphin : Defender Of The Future (for the
    awesome graphics).
DVD quality is OK (for the very limited titles that I've tested, e.g. Styx
    Return To Paradise).

    Other comments :
One warning : compared to the Playstation's, DC's vibration (via the Jump
Pack) is bad. It's not strong enough, doesn't seem to have many vibration
variations, doesn't support "stereo" vibration, plus the game designers are
(up to now) not creative enough in putting it to good use.
In terms of graphics, surprisingly there is no noticeable difference with
the current available games. Some DC games even manage to look better. Let's
see how things will turn out once the programming difficulties have been
solved. In terms of sound, DC is ugly. PS2 is crystal clear and very loud.
It comes with Dolby 5.1 capability right out of the box . Loading time is
better on DC, also the memory card performance is better. DC controller
looks funny, but once I get used to it, I really like it. The analog stick
is small, but allows more precise control than PS/PS2's Dual Shock. Also,
the analog triggers are great, especially for driving games.

Are these the same people who go out and listen to an MP3 of their favorite
band before the album comes out, then complains how they've sold
out? Sorry, but it is very popular to hype up something unrealistically
then slag it down unrealistically later on. It's a trend. The PS2 is a
pretty kickass machine. Just because the first round of games do not use
100% of its power does not mean that it "sucks" -- The same has been true
    of every system ever made.

A console is judged by its games. SNES was - and still is - considered a
great system. Why? It has some classic games that are still better than most
games today in terms of fun and gameplay.
Just because PS2 has more "power" doesn't make it a better machine. I mean,
what are you going to do, invite your friends over to look at a sheet of
paper that has the PS2 specs written on it?
At the moment, it has no games that truly stand out as something special.
    They're all decent, or worse.

And a system can very easily "suck," but become better as it progresses and
the games improve. Right now, PS2 sucks.

    Hey there Ashley and Graham

I'm booked up for London (front row on the balcony) and only two weeks to
    go!

Does anyone know if DT does anything special on the last night of a tour, as
I think (could be wrong though!) that Hammersmith is the last night?

Also, I was wondering if there are any good sites which list settings for
effects boxes (I play through a Peavey Profex II). I hate knob twiddling -
I just can't hold back when I feel those silky strings and my fingers! Any
help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about that, you can have a two sided disc. I don't know of any company that has put out just a DTS disc. You can do One with 5.1 the other with DTS. Hell Universal has been putting out discs with both tracks on one side.(Bowfinger is the only one that comes to mind right now, oh T2:Ultimate has them both) Maybe we should make a plea to Mr. Portnoy. 5.1 5.1 5.1 I couldn't believe the sound of Metallica's Cunning Stunts in 5.1. WOW!

Just wait. I believe that is what Sony is doing with this lame "We didn't order enough parts so we will only be shipping half of our original ideal shipment." The fewer people that have one the more demand it creates. So if no one you know ends up getting one, you won't hear any first hand negativity, you will still want the system.

Sony has a Tickle Me Elmo on their hands. And where is Elmo now 2 years later?

It's not only Pi Squared, but is'e plus multiplied with a radius. :) What was that, equotation for of a circle? Or that was R squared * Pi?

The division near Pi was 22 divided by 7 (22/7), but even that is approximation. So I don't think it's so natural. Neither Douglas is. :)

There was a htread a little while ago about DT being used on the radio as "background music." I discovered another one this morning. When my alarm went off, I was surprised to be awakened up by the beginning chords of "914" from LTE 2. At first I thought I set the alarm to CD and I had LTE in, then the radio people started talking over it. Then I realized that the Y100 morning show in Philadelphia uses 914 when they come back from a break every half hour or so. I was thinking of getting on the air just so I could ask who the LTE fan was.
