Damon, when's the last time you even saw WHITE people at a Dream Theater
    show? ;-)

There's not a memorable song on it. To me, V is simply prog for the sake of
being prog. Much less of an effort to create actual songs than to just
create odd shit. :p That's a thumbs down in my book. ><

Well that's your opinion and that's fine, but I mean...what?! Maybe you
accidentally skipped the 2nd, 4th, and 5th tracks (I don't have the CD with
me, so in case I'm wrong, I'm talking about Revelation, All On a Sunday, and
Goodbye To Yesterday), but these are some of the least-progressive songs
Spock's has ever done. All On a Sunday is probably a song I would hate if I
heard it on the radio (which may very well happen) and didn't know who it
was. I'd think for sure it was Vertical Horizon. That's the poppiest,
cacthiest song they've ever done. Goodbye to Yesterday is a simple acoustic
ballad. Revelation is a little different for them but hardly seems prog. I
mean I know that's only 3 songs, but thats half the tracks on the album. half
of them are *song* songs. nothing fancy, no crazy mellotron solos, no prog.
Well the other 3 "prog" songs, total combined run time, take up more than
half the album, but I still think next to DFN and KoS, this is their most
song-oriented album. which is not a bad thing. i dont know how i'd rank it
among their other works, but i like it a lot and i can't understand calling
prog for prog's sakes. the last song, sure. i cant even get into that. but
    this is definitely song-oriented. well that's *my* long-winded opinion...but
    it should also be yours.

Sorry to say it's not. But it IS certainly funny. When asked about it, Christina Aguilera laughed and pretty much insinuated that she wish she HAD written it!

Here's what happened: Megadeth finally got out of Capitol Records, and is shopping their new album around for a new contract. Originally the new album was gonna be called "Capital Punishment," but now they've decided to name it something else (they haven't decided yet). Instead, because they owed Capitol a greatest hits album in order to leave the company, they are going to release a greatest hits album called "Capitol Punishment" with two new studio tracks on it. Their new album (with songs like "Kill the King," "Return to Hangar," and "Capital Punishment") will be released probably late this year on a new label.

    Does that help? :-) Ari

Me being not white and all, I noticed the handful of non-white at a pair of Detroit shows. There were a few of us, very few perhaps, but a few nonetheless.

    >Oh, Jeez. I'm glad I don't take racism seriously. :)

that's an odd statement, but considering the source, I'll let it pass

Eh, I guess I should have stated that better.. shall we say "the first one I HEARD" and "the second one I HEARD OF." Yeah, that would be more accurate. :) I have the list of their discography lying around here someplace in the mess that is currently my dorm room (I still don't feel moved in), but as I said, it was a sound clip from Projector that really caught me. Btw, I've now seen a bunch of posts saying Stanne went back to growlies and one stating definitively that he got even "cleaner" on Haven. What be up, folks? Are there any soundclips floating around out there? Projector kicked ass and if the new one is at least that good I will be one happy metal-loving woman. :)

Progfest was great. I showed up thinking, I'll see T/A and some other unknown bands. The two other bands were really great, especially the nutty Japanese proggers. The band name is Kenso or Kenzo, and I highly recommend these guys to anyone who is a fan of fun, emotion filled prog heavy on keyboards. Transatlantic was great (especially as seen from just offstage!!). Mike P. was in fine form, and Neal was amazing as always. I hope more people will listen when I tell them to go to a show. I had such a blast :)

I had a similar experience with DC 101 here in DC... (Obviously). FOr a while they were using Erotomania as the background song for their DJs "talking" spots. Also, on 98 Rock, (97.9FM), They've played King Crimson's Trio and Exiles (From the live album The Nightwatch) back to back before. Ain't that cool? DC101 actually played the radio edit version of Home for a little while when it came out.

Is it just me or do you hear a lot of 'The Beatles" influence on the Transatlantic album? I just bought it a couple days ago and am floored by similarities. A good kind of 'floored' though. :)
