Correct. No copyright stuff here. I was talking about making a CD-Copy of
CDs you already own and keeping the CDR's in your automobile as backups.
If those get scratched up, it's ok as you can make more copies. If your
ORIGINAL gets scratched up or stolen, that's unfortunate. Let the CDR's
    take the abuse :)

then again you could just say fuck it and go out and buy one of them
portable mp3 cd players, burn about 100 songs to a cd in mp3 format and
    snub your nose at everyone..

definately a kick ass show for Fates, I wish they would put Mark Zonder
up on some kind of riser or something, the guy like sits on the floor,
I'm 6' 2" and could only see him when Ray left the stage during the
beginning of Still remains ( which blew me away!)

I left after Fates also, had to drive back to NH

I would have gone to the Hartford if they were headlining, that must of
been cool being joined by Frank & Joe

I really think it boils down to sheer numbers though. The more members
of the list there are, the more active, daily posters you're going to
get. This is the only mailing list I've heard of in recent years that
gets spam. (In fact, the other day someone on the TEOF list mentioned
the Ytsejam and the word "spam" in the same sentence. It has become
    synonymous).

To just chalk it up to "uninteresting people" is a very passive way to
look at it. If the list worked like the way it should, I'd tend to
agree with you, but each Jam contains spam and it's driving people
away. How can it not? When I see spam in my inbox, I trash it, plain
and simple. When the Jam becomes synonymous with spam, what do you
    expect people to do?

Does anyone have the current figures of the population of this list
right now? Also, does anyone recall at what the peak volume of this
list was several years back? I seem to recall numbers in the range of
    1500 or more. Skadz?

I find it hard to believe that a listowner whose list was inundated
with spam would move it to another server that allows outside posts
just like before. Yes, the list has moved, but there was no spam
    before torchsong.

Exactly my point. To prove this (as if it needs proving), I'll log
onto my Hotmail account right now that is NOT subcribed to this list
and post something. You'll know it's me because it'll be from
    Rayzortag@hotmail.com.

Yeah, I just sent that e-mail and it should be arriving shortly.

Guys, lets keep discussing this stuff though. Any ideas? Can we
convert this list to a "members only" posting format?

As I asked before, Is the trouble of moving (and improving) this list
greater than having to watch this list's membership dwindle and have
its reputation be reduced to crap?

Skadz, can you chime in on this because it's ultimately your decision.
I just want to stir up some discussion, that's all.

    See ya!

Hey guys; I was wondering if anyone has found any Easter Eggs (you know,
hidden stuff) on the new DT DVD besides the pschotherapist tryouts located
within the color bar test within the set-up option?

This DVD is so jam packed, it makes me almost feel better about missing the
    show in person.

I would hate to see the Jam die. I've been here a long time and made
some good friends - most of the "family" seems to have disappeared
over the last year though. :-(

Skadz hasn't "been" here for many months. Maybe he's still subscribed,
but he doesn't seem to *read* anything, and he certainly never posts.

    Hi All ...

I heard some rumors that people are complaining about the SPAM. I will work this weekend to get the SPAM filters in place which will cut down/get rid of all the SPAM.

A number of people have asked me in the past why we do not enforce the subscriber only posting. The reason is that alot of people have multiple email addresses that they post from and only 1 is subscribed. Ken and I talked about this a long time ago and its easier to leave this off than turn it on, trust me.

Hopefully alot of the SPAM will go away after this weekend. When you have problems like this, please email me and I will work on em, don't just get all up in arms on the list.

hey, for all we know, skadz has dropped off the list too. i can't remember the last time i saw a post from him, much less in response to the fact that something needs to change here. come skadz, speak up man. where the hell are you? do you even give a rip? what's the deal?

Excuse me for speaking up, but, that is bollocks! If people want to use other email accounts, then they should subscribe using those accounts as well. Allowing incoming messages from subscribers only will be a godsend. And aside from the laziness of people who want to use more than one email account without subscribing, I don't see why this rule should continue.

I must concur. As much as I can understand why Skadz leaves this feature off, it is the lesser of two evils to implement it. I can imagine that it would have been easier when it was only one or two messages of spam sent to the 'jam every few days, but now that it has skyrocketed to several messages per day, I believe that the benefits of turning on member-only posting outweigh the advantages of having it turned off.

However, Mr. Rivera, why don't we see how well the list responds to Skadz's anti-spam attempts before we jump to any conclusions? To tell the truth, though, I don't believe it will do much good. Spam has become an all-out warfare, and every time somebody comes up with a means to inhibit it, it fights back with a vengeance.

It's at these times that I hate capitalism.

I'm afraid I have to agree about the state of the Ytse Spam.

Come on everybody, I though DT had just released a DVD or something, or Am I in a parallel universe here? Not a single post about it in the last post!

Oh, BTW here's my solution for consolidating your debts - don't fucking get any in the first place!

    Cheers

Hey Jammers, Just a thought on the spam being terrible, which it is quite horrible, but isn't including the ubiquitous Original Message, or worse still several messages, just as bad, if not more maloderous ? I think the jam is in a tailspin cause no one is trying very hard . the new is worn off and other lists or forums such as mp.com or SyX are shiny and vibrant now. I dunno but I still dig da shit out of the jam myself. BTW that Get out of debt re: by Robb was just hilarious, made me waste a hit choking.Who says there are no thoughtful or funny posts anymore ( I happened to take 10 minutes coming up with big intrusive words to use on this post myself ) and the DT DVD Dialog is informative for those of us who still don't have it ( boohoo or dvd player for that matter . neener? ) How about a good flame war ? Maybe open up a forbidden can of worms just to liven things up? Or perhaps a thread of porn moments since people having sex is almost always interesting. Oh well, just trying to start something. Wanna make something of it? May the weekend find you laughing. Billy

I'm not a fan of portable players. I like to hear the CD in audio format through my car stereo. I much prefer my sound system over headphones in the car.. <Grin>
