    >>> Also, I heard you guys saying that JP's absence from Leonardo makes a big difference. I LOVED AoI, but I do NOT like Transatlantic at all ... think I'll like Leonardo?
    >>

    >well, i'm not quite sure where the comparison lies here. help me out.<<<

Oh, sorry about that. I wasn't trying to compare them. I was trying to provide a sort of guide of what I like and do not like. My tastes lean in the SFaM/Symphony X direction and away from Transatlantic-type stuff because, IMO, Transatlantic didn't sound like it was trying to create NEW progressive music, but rather that it was celebrating the OLD stuff.

I love progressive music (particularly the symphonic metal stuff), but I like it to be reaching for the future. So a lot of stuff that people say is great, I disagree with them because to me some of it sounds like it is stuck in the 70s.

So that is why I said I liked AoI a lot and not Transatlantic. If Leonardo sounds like 70s prog, there is a good chance I won't like it ... although I do like the new Shadow Gallery; to me that doesn't sound "stuck" in any time period, although I hear Kansas and Styx elements. (I *do* like those bands) :)

Anyway, I hope that helps. Sorry for the rambling so much :)

PS - If the Siamese Monster is real, why does he have *2* thrones right next to each other???

I just got Inertia, and I gotta tell'ya all, it's F*$#"n' great. I feel Derek has been writing so much music it's gone out on his creativity with Platypus II(a lame sequell with only "Partial to the Been" as a stand-out), Derek's planet X and Planet X(with only Virgil Donati as a stand-ut) the band.

I havn't heard his first solo but I've bought the others and I promised myself that if this was just as bad as the other album's, I wouldn't buy more of him. But the strangest thing happend, this is good stuff, prog, jazz, fusion, rock, and much more I havn't been able to lable, it's all in here.

I think it was a shame he left DT(or the other way around), because I think he could have made a diffenerce to the DT music, now that he have had some time on his hand. Go get Inertia, or I'll get YOU, bwahahahahhaha.

I must say that Jordan is great to, they all are. Don't flame me because I'm beautiful.

I just read this on toolband.com. "Danny's new tools - a drum set (literally) fit for a king as those of you will see when the tarp is lifted on that propitious occasion. Designed by Jeff Ocheltree in collaboration with the folks at Paiste, the gold, Custom Craft kit was made from thousands of melted-down Paiste cymbals in a process that took a lot of experimenting to perfect. (NOTE: For a year or so now, Danny has used a snare made of "recycled" cymbals.) Although much heavier (with each bass drum weighing exactly 93 pounds - making it's a drum tech's worst nightmare - sorry Joe-Paul), the set-up itself is essentially the same as his Sonor equatorial wood kits (which he will still be using except when astrologically favorable conditions warrant the gold kit) save for an additional baritone tom. Included among the bins of cymbals that were fed to the furnace was a certain much-tortured ride-cymbal that held a special significance to Danny. It was with him for many milestones in his career, going all the way back to his Carol King session days, and, although badly cracked by now, was there with him the night when Tool was signed. And so now, after a special ceremony, said cymbal was put to the "trials of the Duat, only to rise from Amenta in a glorious rebirth - now enshrined amongst the imperishable ones. But that's not the only thing that makes the new kit unique...." I'll be at the show tonight and in Portland tomorrow. Anyone else going to either of these?

Thanx a bunch for the Boston G3 show on LITS, but why aren't the rest of the sets on there? Did they even get recorded? I can't believe that you would go through the trouble of bootlegging a show without at least recording Steve Vai(the allstar jam showender doesn't count).

I don't know how many people in this group are going to POWERMAD next weekend... I was curious to check the status of that inquiry. Anyhow, anyone who is into Trance, Tangerine Dream, Rush, Fates Warning, Dream Theater, Kitaro, Dr. Pepper, evil jazz, whirlpool kitchen appliances and Ralph Nader may want to check out my new CD.

Yes, we recorded the rest of the sets. The reason that we didn't post the rest of the sets was because of two reasons:

    1. Bogie didn't have enough space on his hard drive to dump the entire show, and after the server went down, he had nowhere to put the first bit of audio in order to dump the rest.

    2. Being that LITS is a Dream Theater-related website, we felt it really only necessary to post the Petrucci-related sets.

Note that we MAY (I can't make any promises) post the rest of the show. I do know that Bogie has remastered at least the Vai set, and is probably working on the Satch set if not now then in the immediate future. I don't know if he is planning on posting the rest of the show because of reason number two, but there is a possibility.

Oh come on Mike, you know they'll get done ;) The better question will be what type of sound will they get. I mean, we know that Episode I will not be done in DTS. We still have to debate that like some other DVD that came out this year coughSFNYcough. ;)
