You sound like you're familiar with Devin's material.I've only heard his
    Strapping
Young Lad work and it was quite good though vague and noisy at parts. How
are his other projects like?Less industrial?

listed as progressive metal.I guess he must have evolved a lot since
    S.Y.L then

My opinion is greatly different, that was one of my favorite parts. I
thought theresa added emotion, and a touch of class to the show.

Personally, I thought SFaM was the best they ever did. I didn't really like that part where that Clannad girl is just humming and saying "Yeah" in tune ... I hated that part. All the rest was great IMO. The instrumental bit in track 6 was confusing, but when you know what's going on, it all makes sense. The only part I *don't* get is the very, very end part.

I guess if you break it down to individual songe, SFaM has less on it than some others. But the overall atmosphere is great, and some of the tracks (like the track 2-5 section) just flat out rule.

I haven't seen the video for it yet, but I saw them live playing it. I thought it was great, and it seemed that James didn't mess it all up like he did in the LIVEtime stuff.

As a side note, I think that may be the reason they're doing another live album. Maybe even they know that James messed it up before. Note: I thought he did great on some of the stuff, like Trial Of Tears.

As for their choreopgraphy, I never really thought about it. I guess James could be a little more interesting ... but that's just an afterthought. I never saw him singing and thought "Now he needs to do more" ... I just noticed that he always has those skin-tight rubber-looking pants. It's a bit annoying, but that's just my opinion :)

But then again, this is coming from the guy who likes WDADU better than, say, Awake.

In general, I'm hoping the "Awake and LTE" direction, being a loose description as it is, will take it into a more Symphony X - V direction. Just imagine how utterly amazing it would be if DT and SX continued to "feed" off each other and grow in the same direction ... wow ...

Just my rambling for the day... feel free to do the same... :) CUl8r guys.

"Continued" to feed off each other? When did this ever happen.Sure SX have "fed off" DT,as most of the prog influenced metal bands out there ,but vice versa? And as much as i enjoy both bands i really can't see how they could grow in the same direction.

I agree. I'm not much for solos anymore. I like JP best when he takes a little time to slow down and go into "David Gilmour" mode. Something tasty to break up the shredding. It does seem that he's better when he "thinks it out" before hand, but when he improvs (if it is improv), he just kinda falls into all-shred mode...

    > SFaM grew old on me fast.

    Yep.

The infamous special effects. 'Nuff said.

Damn! I hope you put that flame suit on! You're not in the US, so I guess political correctness is not as ingrained (brainwashed?) in your mind. Making any statement that makes a generalization about any group is considered offensive. (With the exception of white males, beat them up all you want) ;o)

Even side issues can not be brought up, if anyone can relate them in anyway to offending some group. For instance, I assume you're from Mexico. If someone in the US is concerned about population growth, you can't even say anything about it, even if you're an environmentalist. If you mention "population control", it gets related to immigration, and in the US, immigration gets related to Mexico and South America, and then you're an anti-hispanic racist.

Just to be politically correct, environmental groups have dropped population control from their agenda. Forget about the fact that EVERY other issue they are concerned about is caused by human over-population...

Whoops... I got sidetracked... excuse me.

    > They get too excited, and start screaming......ha! Think of the > way Christina Aquilera sings. She can NEVER keep her mouth shut, > and that damn hand moving!

Lol! Now I am getting excited! I guess the neighbors always know when Christina is in the bedroom... ;o)

    > On the brighter side.....The extras are absolutely great!!! The > bonus hour of concert is just what i wanted on DVD.

Now you're talking. That's just about the only thing I watch on that DVD anymore. Straight to the bonus footage.

    > Chew on it!

Yummm. That bonus footage is tasty!

..hehehe, yeah, that might have been a little bit rude, but i couldn't think of another way of saying it AND making my point clear. About making the generalization: ....i was aware of that, that's why i said "most"...and "most" is not "all" ! There's always exceptions for every generalization made. Anyway, i hope i didn't offend anyone. I was just pointing out my likes and dislikes of the DVD, and that was a worthy-mentioning personal dislike.

Ahh, one more thing: I miss JP's Ibanezes! He had more "visual impact" on me with those mean shred machines!

well, this is pretty much the same as in the mail concerning n sakkos' mail, and some more 1. Who cares about dancing (or whatever) 2. I can agree that LaBrie does look kinda stupid from time o time 3. I agree that all the psychedelic effects are obsolete 4. The acoustic/electric guitar dilemma is not relly a dilemma is not really a dilemma: In finally free, when the guitar goes from acoustic to electric in about 0,5 sec : how is he supposed to change guitars? (yes, he could have simply used electric all the way, but... no. This is how it should be.) 5. YES!! MORE CLOSEUPS OF THE TERRIFIC PLAYING, AND LESS FOOLING AROUND! (have you noticed in Live in Tokyo that when M Portnoy climbs his drums to make the crowd go wild, they show K Moore doing nothing particular - and from a CRAPPY angle?!?!?) 6. OK, everybody's allowed to like/dislike certain types of music, but the T Tomason/gospel parts are high quality performances by people with great voices.

Guess this was my "some-things-off-the-chest-and-blowing-some-steam" thing.

Heh heh - I've noticed this a bit too - he doesn't always seem to know what to do with himself. Hopefully the G3 tour helped - I'm guessing Vai especially showed him a thing or two about showmanship, tho I hope Petrucci would never get as cheesy as Vai can....

.after i sent that post it struck to me as kind of moronic, but oh well, every jammer is entitled to send one once in a while...and the jam's slow...and i really like emails clogging up in my mailbox...even when i'm the one sent 'em(it's still a pleasant surprise)..but it's still morning and this..is beyond me...i thought Kevin Moore wrote Jordan's parts and they just have him playing keys, because Kevin has too much ego to officially re-join the band he once gave up on.I wonder how long Jordan's gonna put up with the role of the "other keyboard player". White, male keyboard players...what can one say...besides "thank god they're not white, female keyboard players" perhaps?

    >tho I hope Petrucci >would never get as cheesy as Vai can....

I try to imagine JP trying out new moves,Angus Young style,Chuck Berry,Jimmi Hendrix, ZZ Top (the thing with the revolving guitars) ,Jason Newsted (shouting lyrics and such, and doing the windmill thing)...Korn(holding the guitar down to his knees)..i can see him practice in front of the mirror..nah...when his wife isn't home perhaps..kids at school.. dog on a cruise..family's photos turned around to look the other way...right.

    nick the prick surfs up!
