Well well well,
Just returned from the Midnight advanced screening of The Lord of the Rings:
Fellowship of the Ring (which for some reason started about 40 minutes late,
but oh well).
Anyways, I will say this: The movie is really fantastic. The 3 hours FLEW
by, it could have easily been 4 hours long and still kept everybody's
attention. There were certainly no lapses in excitement..... almost every
minute is packed with coolness. My only real gripe was that a few key
scenes were way too short, and lost the flavor of the book at times (not too
often). Another 30 minutes added to flesh out some of the scenes would have
made the movie near-perfect. Rumors have the DVD containing additional
running time, so I'm looking forward to that! I should also mention the
acting was really strong, and the movie just LOOKED beautiful! Overall, as
it stands now: still a tremendous movie despite my (minor) quibbles with
it.
Apparently I'm not the only one who thought it was great either...... this
was the first time I've ever been to a movie where the audience gave a
standing ovation at the end! :)
Well, I'm off to bed now. But take my advice and see this movie!
Later,
- Joe D.

Got the fanzine yesterday--perfect timing for this year's CD for once! The
"Four Degrees of Radio Edits" comment made was accurate. Smeggin' kudos to
Nicole an' the others that may be working on the US DTIFC for this year's
prompt manner.

John Petrucci working on his first solo album
(News : John Petrucci)
John Petrucci has begun recording his first solo album.
The album will most likely have nine tracks and include
the new songs John performed during the G3 tour. These
songs are titled "Jaws of Life" (formerly "I.B.S."),
"Damage Control" and "Glasgow Kiss". The album will
feature Dave LaRue (Dixie Dregs, Planet X) on bass,
Dave DiCenso on drums on seven of the tracks, and Tony
Verderosa on drums on one track. The album is being
engineered by Doug Oberkircher at Doug's studio in
Suffern, NY.

For those of you who don't get the UACM newsletter, DT
has put a Real Player clip of the making of Blind
Faith on the official website. Every other week or
so, they will put another clip showing a different
song. This is exciting for those of us who didn't
already download the entire album.
And for the pros and cons of pre-ordering, I still
can't find the re-release of SFNY in any stores in
Augusta GA. So location should be in the equation.

I downloaded the first of these, but haven't managed to watch it
yet. I can't get RealPlayer to work on my machine! It's mighty
frustrating...

Re-Install real player and it may work. If not, well that sucks :( It's a cool clip.

One word (and a superlative):
WOW.
Another word (adjective):
INCREDIBLE.
All I can say is, like Nick said, I'll be in line again Friday night.
What an awesome movie going experience.

I just got back from LOTR and I'm astounded. Woo! I cannot wait to see it again!
I'm not sure if I want to be a hobbit or an elf when I grow up... sigh. Such decisions!
