my very first cd was the black album by metallica. after that, i quickly
proceeded to buy scorpions "love at first sting" & winger "II : in the
heart of the young". i remember someone mentioning cinderella's "night
songs". that was also somewhere in the first 2 dozen or so. such good
'ole rock & roll. the most recent cd was the brand new electric
instrumental from michael schenker "MS2000 : dreams and expressions".
    excellent stuff.

I bought my first CD 1988, Dokken "Back for the attack". Dokken was actually
my favourite band at that time...
My latest CD is Michael Schenker's "Adventures of the imagination" which I
ordered six months ago from CDON, a web shop here in Europe. It was a nice
    surprise when I received a CD I had forgot I ordered :-)

The pieces sound very promising. They're closer to "Behind"
than to "Younique" for my taste. Younique was a good album,
but I prefer Behind so I'm really looking forward to the
    new one :)

"adventures of the imagination" is a fantastic album. if you enjoyed
that, give the second electric instrumental a try. "MS2000 : Dreams and
Expressions" is the name of it. also, he released an album in `93 called
"Thank You", and it is beautiful. it's completely acoustic, as well as
being completely instrumental. schenker plays all the guitar layers on it
(which is all there is), and each song is designed to create or inspire
the mood that's referred to by the songs' title. it's a perfect example
of how accomplished & diverse a player schenker really is.

Never trust anything from the press. It's all just
propaganda. Every company has Communications and
Public Relations departments. Their job is to shape
public opinion in a way that is beneficial to them.
It's all they do. The "press" just repeats their
propaganda. It is totally and completely self-serving.
They are trying to make money, and truth is NOT an
issue. It applies to all industries.

I think my first album was "Condition Critical" on vinyl, by Quiet Riot. I
was about 7, and I liked their music videos. My first CDs were gifts given
to me with my first CD player when I was about 13. Two good, one bad. One
was a compilation of Classical music, one was "Let's Get It Started" by MC
Hammer, and finally, some Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch album that
eventually became lost, causing no emotional trauma whatsoever. I'm pretty
sure the first CD I actually desired and obtained was the black album from
    Metallica.

First CD I ever bought: Queensryche "Empire". Pretty good for someone who
wasn't even a prog fan back in 1991, huh?

First cassette I ever bought: Bananarama, the one with "Venus" on it. I
was, like, 9? Someone stole it from me. Boo.

First time I heard DT: Headbanger's Ball in '92. Bought the CD almost
immediately afterwards (my 68th cd ever). Hunted down WD&DU (no One Way
re-release for me!), and eagerly awaited Awake. I have both of DT's
personal appearances on HBB on videotape, even. Looking at a lot of the
other people on this list, I feel like such a veteran. Sad though that I
didn't see my first show until last year, when I managed to catch
two--Chicago first leg, Milwaukee second leg.

I should also note that I live in a relatively small town, and every person
I've ever met who is a fan of DT in this town can be traced to me. A guy I
worked with loved them, turns out he's best friends with a kid I babysat in
1993 who learned of DT from me. Insanity.

    Silly DT stories galore!#@!

    Hey everyone,
Sorry to CC this message to every mailing list I'm on,

Ice Age, the incredible prog metal band from Long
Island, will be doing an in-store at The Music Arcade
in Westbury, Long Island, on Tuesday, March 6 from 6
p.m.-8 p.m. The will be signing their new CD (on Magna

    store.

Music Arcade is located at 1077 Old Country Rd. in
Westbury Plaza (next to the Century 21 Department
Store), just two blocks west of the Wantagh Parkway.
If anyone needs directions, feel free to e-mail me.

I'm not sure what my first cd was, I got rid of some of my old ones. I
remember I had a Beach Boys greatest hits tape when I was about 8 that I
used to play all the time. I think the 2 cd's I've had the longest are
Candlebox's "Candlebox" and Pearl Jam's "Ten."

    >i had the doobies, and silver bullet band, and all the goodies!

If I had any money, I'd still buy those cd's. They kick ass. :-)

I only recently listened to the lyrics of "Lola" by The Kinks and
realized (to my horror) that Lola was a guy. :-)

I got my first cd player for my Bar Mitzvah in 1990, and soon after I purchased my first cd, Billy Joel's Stormfront. However, my first tapes I ever bought were Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet and Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA. Yes, I'm from Jersey and f'in proud of it!!!!

I never really listened to DT prior to purchasing the cd. I've heard of them from friends, neighbors, etc. and picked up FII from the cd guy at school (who's kids will be attending Harvard, thanks to my purchases), and I've been hooked since. Other recent purchases: Bob Marley's Legend, Oasis' Familiar to Millions, NIN's Things Falling Apart, and Neil Young's Road Rock.

My first vinyl was Journey "Escape". My brother gave it to me for
Christmas, hoping of course that I would hate it. I was in 4th grade. My
first CD was Tesla "Mechanical Resonance". Tesla put on a great concert
last week in Chicago by the way, even though it was late starting.....

My biggest guilty pleasure CD that I hate admitting to is Nelson..... I was
in college at the time. I still like it at times, or should I not admit
    that part.......

The most recent CD purchases were Freak Kitchen "Dead Soul Men", and Steve
    Walsh "Glossolalia".

My husband and I were lucky to hear Dream Theater. We were in a bar to see
a band and in between sets they played Pull Me Under. We asked the DJ who
it was and haven't looked back since. That was 1993, I believe.

My first CD was none other than DT's I&W...having already owned the
cassette and knowing how cool it was, I made it my first CD.

I haven't seen much about the Prog Power concert yet. Maybe we're all
still recovering from being blown away. :) If anyone is interested in
setlists or other such info, I have most of the setlists written down.
The highlight for me was Pain of Salvation...awesome show. An
interesting aside: James Rivera (singer of Destiny's End) told me that I
looked like Paul Simon! I don't know where he got that...must be the
    short hair.

It seems to be something about DT that motivates me to get up to date with
    technology!

My first CD was ACOS a couple of months before I bought my CD player, and I
just got a DVD player (well upgraded to a DVD ROM)and was hoping that DT
would be first on it as well. Sadly, Gladiator, Yngwie Malmsteen and
Metallica have beaten DT on that one! Still got me off my backside to get
    with it!

    Cheers

    Oh my God.

My first cd was Dangerous Toys' debut album (Teasin' Pleasin' and Scared
both came from that album). Prog content: Jason McMaster was their lead
singer, and was also the singer from Watchtower.

My second cd was D.R.I.'s thrash zone. I followed up rather quickly with
some Maiden and some shred guitar albums. I was a KID though! Forgive me!

Aww.. come on.. I was 13 -- with only Top 40 radio to guide my musical

My first CD... was... MY FIRST CD?!?!?! PSHAW...
CD is such outdated technology. It's all about mp3s... Why are we talking about
    something so archaic?

What was your first Napster download?

Sheesh people, grow up. Why in the world would you be ashamed of something
that you liked? We've all got certain tastes that change throughout our
lives. And sometimes they even stay with us. I'll say right now, that I
would rather listen to any of my old top 40 radio tapes, featuring Def
Leppard, Positive K, and Amy Grant than Scenes from a Memory. Whoopie.

And I agree with Mosh anyways...speaking of mp3s, I downloaded the entire
Wilson Phillips album. Sometimes I'm afraid that Carnie Wilson will come and
sit on my head, but it's the price that I must pay for affordable pop. Damn
you Hillary Rosen, you truffle-rooting cashpig!

My 1st one was Top Gun-soundtrack. I bought that because of that Steve Stev= ens=B4 instrumental. Great stuff back then...and it still is a decent song, IMO.

I first discovered DT back in 1993. I bought I&W without being heard any of= the songs before (cool cover art, long songs etc.). But after PMU started spinn= ing, things were never the same again...

What is this stuff? I saw it on TV just now ... funny "movie" or whatever it is. Michael Jackson and some monsters-like dudes, dancing around in front of normal human audience.

Damn this guy can really dance. :) The whole scenario / choreography is pretty cool, and sue me but the music is very good too. :) Has some great fanky bass, keys lines.

I dunno what is this stuff, new or old? The music is ala "Bad" and Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation 1814" (very good pop album)
