Most Rush cds (inc. G. Lee) are on sale today only for $8.38 at CDNow.
I don't know if they are remastered or not,
Time to fill the gaps in your Rush collection...

Steve, I have a couple of their MP3's from their latest album. A friend of
mine downloaded one of them randomly from Napster after doing a search on
"prog" or something like that. Anyway, he listened to it, called me and said
he thought I'd like it, and e-mailed it to me. I immediately fell in love
with the track ("Two Minds One Soul"), and after telling him about it, my
friend found a second MP3 ("Closer Apart") and sent that to me too. Well,
that one is awesome as well. At present time, I'm waiting impatiently for
their 2 CD's to arrive from Amazon.com. :-)
Anyway, I'd gladly send them to you via e-mail if your mailbox can handle it.
(The files aren't that big for prog metal - one is about 4M and the other is
about 5M.) The other thing I can do is FTP them to a site if anyone knows of
a site I can send them to. I know at some point (a long time ago, before I
got a hold of any FTP software) some Jammers hosted FTP sites to freely trade
MP3's. Any of those sites still around? :-)
Unfortunately, these are about the only 2 options I have to distribute these
files. I don't have a webpage, and I'm not webpage-savvy enough to build
one. So I can't provide any links to the MP3's. Anyway, let me know if
you're interested.
Hope this helps... Matt T.

Hey, I'd play in Britney's band on a tour and then be able to do whatever I wanted after that with the money I made, if invested wisely of course.

Ha! Andromeda. I hope these guys did a copyright check on that name. I think there was a 60's band that had it. Many, many years ago a high school band I was in chose that name after much debate. The very first person we told informed us that the name was already being used by another band in our little town. No need for a copyright check after that... No doubt this name has been used thousands of times.

<What, there is guitar on any of her alleged 'songs' ?> (Britney Hampt..I mean Spears)
Actually what I though was funny, when waiting for Mike and Rod at the autograph session at Mars Music in atlanta (hi paul!) I was thumbing through the tab book for Baby one more time. If I played guitar I would have put a death metal tone too "sometimes"
>1. Taylor Hawkins >2. lars Ulrich >3. Mike Portnoy >4. David Silveria
No question is a dumb question but who a e Taylor Hawkins and David Silveria?
<Yeah, his lyrics are absolutely dreadful, and that's being kind. At least on the first 2 albums he was trying to write about stuff, but on the thrid one, dear god. Rollin's lyrics are some of the worst ever written IMO.>
No the1st song on the album is the worst lyrically song ever written.
Cue up the excert:
"and if I say fuck 2 more times its 46 fucks in this fucked up rhyme"
What genious.
You know whats funny, about 1993 when Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, STP and all those bands were taking the rock scene by storm, I was pissed cause all the real rock to me at the time (Extreme, Def Leppard etc) seemed to be uncool. I still like some of those pop rock bands, but now I look back and what a fool I was.
Look at was popular then :PJ for example. "TEN" a brillant album, their best IMO. Take that and put it up against whats popular now: POD, Papa Roach, Linkin Park (sorry I hear the album they blow) Id love for these types of bands to become popular again, but remeber you have have brillant lyrics like
KEEP ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN what?
Bleargh. TIme for bed.
Kurt
Pop Rock bands I think are uncool nowaday: Cinderella, Poison and Ratt
Still listen to: Extreme (duh, nuno shreds) Def Leppard, GNR and Warrant (later stuff is good, Cherry pie and DRFSR blow)

Yes, opinions are like arseholes... Everybody has one... That is however an extremely harsh judgement on VP. Another case of music snobbery??? I would hope not... Just remember people, not everyone can be as good as DT and as we use them as a benchmark sometimes we can be a bit too judgemental on anything that isn't quite up to the same extremely high standard. I for one love VP's music and as personal friend of the band I have seen them live countless times. If they are "loose", god help every other up and coming band in this genre including my own!! I echo Korg's sentiments!!!
"KorgX3 will never play guitar again."
Paul.. will never be as good as JP but still plugs along! ;)

i would try an electro-harmonix "big muff" distortion, or a comptortion pedal, i can't remember the company that makes them. also, budda makes a good distortion pedal. that's my contribution for now. -robert

I haven't messed with a fuzz box in ages, but I'm actually curious now as to how they sound. I heard that the Boss "Metal Zone" pedal is pretty good for the money - great for practicing. The Big Muff pedal seems popular too, but I've never heard (or realized I was hearing) either of them first-hand. People also seem to rave about the Line6 Pod.

I read recently in HM magazine that Saviour Machine's Legend III is still being worked on, with a possible summer release, I believe (I looked for the article, but couldn't find it). I think it said they're still working on the lyrics or something along those lines. Whatever the case, I am definitely keeping my eye out for it.
