DUAL tray CD Burner ?? I gotta see this.. So does that mean 1 tray is a
burner and 1 tray is a CD-ROM ? Or TWO burners?? hahah

There are actually much better deals out there for Phillips and Sony and HP
burners that are 8x and 10x for a lot less than $269!

I'll be there. I really lucked out with the venue location. Of all

He probably has the one I bought called "Falling into Obscurity" Pretty
outdated now, cause half the songs have produced versions on the 1999
    xmas cd.

    Here's my track list:

You or Me (HY single source)
    Hollow years demo
    BMS demo (w hell kitchen)
    Lines in teh sand demo
TAMP-slower version-i think it came from some promo disc w/ speak to me
on it, but i could be wrong
    JLMB demo
    Cover My eyes demo
    Speak to me (japan FII)
Where are you now (live somewhere, possible 1998 x mas shows)
Raise teh knife (instrumental-recorded through the PA system b4 a show,
they never played the 11 minute version live)

On the Xmas cd there are a ton of better sounding tunes than this disc.
Still fun to listen to FII would have sounded like b4 Mr Caveman.

Since I happened to be listening to the same album at that exact time, I
though I'd put in my two cents worth on some various issues. First off, SB
is an awesome band, it's been awhile since I've jammed on "V." Moving on,
I've been thinking about the whole "Who's best" thing lately, and have come
to the conclusion that, well, Prog is in and of itself the best! The SymX
vs. SFAM thing is what first got me thinking, and I have decided that
although SymX may be faster, and maybe a bit tighter, Dream Theater still
has the edge on creativity and flat-out kick-ass
    make-the-hair-stand-up-on-the-back-of-your-neck-every-single-time awesome
music. Don't get me wrong, I love Symphony X, too. Actually, I have a hard
time finding any one Prog band that is "The Best," because each band has its
    own unique style and sound.

Somebody asked earlier about the T/A video; I have it preordered. I wish my
CD player would read my copy of SMPT:e, so I could familiarize myself with
some of T/A's music before I get the video. Also, I can't wait for the
video/DVD of the Roseland show to come out. I wonder if there's somewhere I
    can preorder that...

Well, I'm going to stop rambling and go back to my Progging. Hope to see
more DT content on here, or more stuff on new bands, or at least some
music-related stuff. But then again, I like to complain about everything,
so I probably won't be happy if all that's on here is DT-related. It's been
    a long day...

    Later ev'ryone,

Hello! Something somewhat surprising happened to me today. I was watching
the movie The New Cinema Paradiso (in Italian with English subtitles) and
all of a sudden I hear something that sounds way too familiar. Well, it
happens that a character that had just become blind tells a kid friend of
his that he can see much clearer now that he's blind! This is from where
the sample from TTT was taken!!! I don't know if this has ever been
mentioned, but I certainly don't remember anybody saying it before. The
movie is quite good, so go see it if you haven't, in addition to it
containing a little snippet of DT history!

That's because it's been in the FAQ for ages. :D

[6.3.9 What is being said in Italian in "Take the Time" and where is it
[from? It's Italian for, "now that I'm blind, I can see much clearer." It
[was taken from the film "Cinema Paradiso" as the following:
    [
["Adesso che ho perso la vista, ci vedo meglio e di piu"
    [
[In Ytsejam Digest 1734, Matteo Gagliolo (matteog@usa.net) wrote that even
[though these are the words seen in the video, the actual quote is "Ora che
[ho perso la vista ci vedo di piu," which he says translates to "Now that I
[have lost my sight, I can see clearer."
    [
[It's not a coincidence that LaBrie sings, "I can see much clearer now I'm
    [blind," right before the sample."

    Sorry, man.

Paul, That's not totally true. The reason many extras and deleted scenes look worse than the movie is to same space on the DVD. They just compress the data more and use a mono or stereo mix of the extra stuff. Why mix a deleted scene in 5.1 and use bare compression? It's a deleted scene!

I seem to remember that was a French (?) promotional album, listed at one time in Derek Sherinian's web-discography. Most of the stuff on it has seen official release elsewhere, but I think, assuming it's the same thing I'm remembering, there may be a track or two found only on it. I think it contains an official version of "Caught In Alice's Nine-Inch Tool Garden"?

I posted some info about a week ago on the same subject. Matt Guillory is currently involved with the recording of Mullmuzzler II. There will be a new Dalis album later this year, the band have demo'ed new material and is quite different to the DT inspired debut album. There is also a change in personnel, the exact nature will be announced soon.

Matt's own website is www.mattguillory.com But it's still under construction, with not all links working.

Adriano, OK I'll take that back to IMO ;)

It's true that we've both probably listened to SFAM 1000 times... but I think that the music on SFAM is a 1000 times richer. Don't get me wrong I love 'V' but ... I't gives me the feel that the music was constructed around the chorus of each song, get what I mean ? And the whole album doesn't have that change of feelings you get all through SFAM. And a 100 other reasons that I won't go through here, as I said before I could not compare both albums, for me ones way ahead of the other, which is why I wouldn't use DT as a benchmark referance.

But as I always say : "Thank God opinions differ, or we'd bore the shit out of each other" ;)

Trial of Singles is a pirated compilation of all the bonus tracks found on Dream Theater's singles during the Awake and Falling Into Infinity era.

The fact that the packaging has the "Elektra" logo on it or FII artwork is a moot point. It's not a real release. You think Elektra would have even approved such a release? Or better yet, why would DT put out the 1999 DT IFC CD if half the tracks were already=20 available on this presumed "official" release?

The promotional French CD you all seem to be confusing Trial of Singles for is called Live Bonus Tracks. If you purchased 3 DT albums at the time of FII's release in France, you received a copy of LBT free with your purchase. On LBT are Caught In A Web '96, Burning My Soul (live), Another Hand / The Killing Hand (live), and Take Away=20 My Pain (live). You won't find CIAW '96 and TAMP live on any other Dream Theater release other than Live Bonus Tracks making the promo disc one of the most sought after.
