There's one fairly disturbing sex scene that is missing (or altered) in the
edited version, also I believe some of the drug-use scenes are softened up a
    bit.

I know the unrated version is available on DVD... not sure about VHS though.

Possibly reading the fall out? The DT site has an update in which the fan club will continue giving us a "Free Annual CD" with our
yearly memembership. I wonder if someone reads the shit on here after all. LOL! Ok, so now I will renew for the CD.

I saw Planet X in their Sydney show, and I agree with Paul... the show was
awesome... the duel between guitar and keyboard at the end was hilarious
    :P

But Dominati's drum solo was astounding... he did this thing on the
hi-hat, flicking his sticks around to hit both the hi-hat and each
other... I'm no drummer, but it amazed me anyway :P

And yeah, Derek was surprisingly unegotistical :P He did an instore
signing before the show at Utopia... interesting that only about 30 people
turned up to that, but the show would have had about 700 or so people.

I got Derek's autograph on my Touring Into Infinity shirt (not that I
actually bought it from a show - I live in Australia!), so that was
cool. It's as close as I've ever been to Dream Theater - the next best was
talking to MP in an online chat :P

*sigh* Wish I could see DT down here... I guess I'll go home and play the
DVD again... I'll probably burn a hole in it soon :P

Anyway... I don't know how many more dates Planet X have in Australia, but
if you have the chance, go see them. I'd never heard a second of any
Planet X music before the show, and I loved it.

Kudos to the guy brave enough to wear an Awake shirt to the show ;P

    Niall

The spam is now way way beyond a joke.

Shall we fire Skadz? Any volunteers to replace him?

Or, failing that, does anyone know how the hell we can get him to
    LISTEN to our complaints???

You lot are worrying too much. Switch to ack mode. I get spam from the jam, I look at the subject and delete. I don't read it, nor does it bother me enough to leave the list or call Skadz any childish names.

    It's pretty easy really.

Since Skadz doesn't actually read or pay attention to the jam, we can safely call him anything we want. :-P

I second this. I usually scan subject lines for things that interest me anyway, regardless if its Dream Theater related or if it's about penis enlargement. On ACK mode, it's all the same. I am not someone who enjoys repeated threats anyway, so the SPAM just falls into that bucket.

I think you fail to grasp the meaning of producing an album without a label. Producing a world wide mass production album, which means owning a studio and paying all the people involved with the production, negotiating with local and foreign distributers, hiring people to handle the financial aspect, organizing the tours, negotiating with the booking agencys. Dream Theater hasn't got the money for an "Apple" like company, nor the expirience nor the time.

With all do respect, I think that this Idea is a bit too far fetched...

Far-fetched? I'll be the first to say that it's f*ckin' crazy! But it's a good idea nonetheless, is it not? That's what I hate most about trying to make an anti-Napster (or anti-CD-burning, or whatever) argument: it doesn't ever seem to make any significant difference one way or the other. Our local bands, who pay for their own shows and CDs, would be killed if their stuff was on some free website. I guess it doesn't really make much difference for DT, but it's the concept, the moral, of the thing that should matter. I don't think even I know what I'm talking about anymore, so I'm just gonna drop this. It's been fun, though; it's kinda kept the jam alive, along with a few other choice arguments. For a while, we had more posts than SPAMs. I was just going through my old October 2000-era backed up Jams, and I noticed that we got about 30 messages a day, and about 2 SPAMs a week. And we talked about Prog all the time!

P.S. Because this used to be a very popular question, whatever happened to KorgX3? We need someone to liven this place up a bit... _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

You really think so? I've discovered hundreds of "local" bands because of Napster and/or websites. A few months ago, Vanishing Point was a little unknown band from Australia, now you can't go to a prog site without seeing them mentioned. Free mp3s and word of mouth help the smaller bands be heard places their local promotion would never get to.

Just following up my own posting.

Earlier today I sent a rather strongly-worded message to Skadz complaining about the spam and his apparent lack of interest in the jam.

I just got a reply saying he'll be putting more filters in place and moving to a different server, etc. So I'm hopeful we might see an improvement over the next week or so. :-)

OK, I stole Jeroen's filter system for Freaks and put it in place on the jam. I will send out a longer email detailing all that it does at some point in the future, but I just wanted to let everyone know it is there. It's mean, be prepared :) But when you get a reject mail, read it, because there is a secret in the mail :)

I went and saw Mourning Widows last night, Nuno's new band. They were awesome. Definately check them out if you have a chance. Not exactly prog, but definately something I think people out there will like.
