my memory is bad (it starts to go at this age) but i believe i joined back
in 94 or 95. damn. i know i spent the entire night before my driver's test
    on #ytsejam chatting with D-Man and playing superior's why.wav and Ibanez's
(Ptacek's?) btl.wav and saying "Yess! Rock!" everytime someone played it.
there was a time (when i was your age) when i reached #3 on itchy's MFP
lists. and this was at the time that DreamNDay was cheating by posting a
bunch of one-line messages :) however i dont think anyone actually knew me,
so i guess that doesnt count as being high-profile :) moo.

    Yeah he did.

    Santana both

    recently?

You're right about the ass whipping he got by Santana & Beck, he had =
this horrible sound on his guitar that drowned the stuff he did... plus =
I bet he was high as a house, ha ha. It was at that time he met Simon =
Phillips for the first time (1986). There is this story about them =
racing with these cars golf players use :)

What he have done lately, well... he played on an awesome track for =
Niacin (Sheehan, Chambers, Novello) on their album "Deep" the track is =
called "Things Ain't Like They Used To Be" with Glenn Hughes on vocals =
(killiner blues song!!). He's also just about to release a live album =
together with Larry Carlton, incredible playing by the both of them. And =
he's also playing live gigs with Edgar Winter (the "Odd Couple Tour"). =
And as usual he've been touring extensivly with Toto (Mindfields & =
Livefields tours, they had 2 albums released in 1999). Oh right, he'll =
also be in the new Fish (ex-Marillion) album, playing a solo together =
with Brian May & John Wesley. He's been busy as usual :)
If you live in LA you can see him playing with "The Doves Of Fire" =
together with Simon Phillips, Jeff Babko & Melvin Davis. They play =
Mahavishnu Orchestra & Beck stuff plus some other weird shit!!
If you're looking for stuff he've played on (some 800 records) you'll =
find the most extensive list at www.lukecds.dk where I just happen to be =
a reviewer for. His record "The Candyman" (1994) is a record all prog. =
fans should have, it will change your world!

My brother is trying out some programming chops on an
NCAA tournament (men) picks contest, and he doesn't
care who enters. Meaning you all are invited to join
the fun. It's free to enter, and there's a $25 Best
Buy gift card waiting for the winner (as well as a
custom cd-rom he throw together every year with
highlights from the tourney, as D'Ld from espn.com and
other stuff), so if you're going to be filling out a
set of brackets anyway, spend a couple of minutes at
www.michiganball.com and toss your picks into our hat.

He hasn't been hyping it up too much, so the entry
pool isn't gonna be too huge, meaning better odds for
you to win the prize. And, you can't beat the entry
price! Good Luck to whoever enters.

Whoever posted about Derek's new CD...there is a guy named Jimmy Johnson who
played bass with Allan Holdsworth's I.O.U. band. Could this be the same
guy? If so, he's an INCREDIBLE bass player.

I think I joined around mid-'95, just before or just after the move from the arastar server, back when you'd see the ubiquitous wordy comments from the list owner. [my comments were not wordy - k. bibb]

About that time, planning for the very first YtseCon began (it took place later that year, just prior to the release of ACoS).
