Really, most vinyl is not worth selling. Maybe a used record store.
Ebay would not be worth the time and shipping costs....

Yeah, a very good cd. Progmetal with a hard rock singer. Their first one is
    very good too.

Yeah, Ark - Burn the Sun is great. I had that CD in my car one day last
week checking it out to and from work.

forget ebay. it won't be worth your trouble. i would say either your
local used record shop, or just stuff them in a box & hang onto them for
posterity. won't find much luck doing anything else with them. too big
to use for drink coasters.........good luck.

some people do collect them so depending on what you've got, you might be able to sell some of them. You'd have to look around though.

"Ark - Burn the Sun" is indeed an album to take note of - and buy. I'm not "experienced" enough with progrock to venture in on the possible inspirations for this album, but I am convinced they have picked up at least something from DT... A friend of mine said it sounded too "Norwegian" for his taste, but I don't think so. Recommended without question.

so how is it? - after last year I didn't bother to renew .. and I have all the english language fanzines so far .. just couldn't face yet another interview with portnoy and his drumkit :-) On the other hand the French fanzine continues to find plenty of interesting stuff to write about.

    > I just wanted to know if anyone got the ARK - Burn the Sun CD. > I was very interested by the comments and would like to know > other people's opinion.

like this album for a start which was well covered 6 months or so ago - and all the fanclub members got a neat 3-track promo for the band. have to say that this is far and away my favourite disk for the year - it rocks, its heavy, mellow, progressive, poppy and it just hits the spot for me. Maybe the last couple of tracks don't maintain the high standard set by the first 5 cuts on the disk, but for me those tunes represent the very, very best in Prog Metal. Guitarist Tore Ostby (ex-Conception) is a genius, Vocalist Jorn Lande is now THE Prog-Metal Vocalist (also check out the albums 'the Devil Hall of Fame' by Beyond Twight and his own 2nd solo disk - 'WorldChanger'). The other musicians are no slouches either.

I've seen them play live 3 times this year and while it has to be said that they had a few problems on their recent tour with Threshold (or rather that they had a problem with the sound guy), I'm sure that they'll have their shit together by time they play ProgPower - http://www.progpower.com/ - yes, yet another damned good reason to be in Atlanta in 2 weeks time!

As for buying 'Burn the Sun', its out in Europe on Inside Out. USA residents will only be able to get hold of a copy when Steve Vai's label get around to releasing it in Feb 2002 - almost a year after its release in Europe.

Well, first I wanted to thank all of you who have provided input about what the best programs are. Based on the emails I got (and a guy at Guitar Center who actually knew what he was talking about), I decided to go with Cubase VST 5. It's going to take a while to learn, but from what I hear, I won't be disappointed. So far, my biggest question is how in the living hell they managed to fit Cubase on only one CD.

.. and that guy at work still couldn't believe that I paid money for a music studio program. As if everyone has to steal every program or CD that they can. Maybe when these companies start laying off more people, and go out of business ... and then we don't HAVE music studio programs ... they'll understand.

    ** TD UPDATE **

I haven't been checking TD's site as often as I should have, but I checked back, and it seems that they were unable to get their permits (?) in time because of the delays caused by the terrorist attacks. Once again, I like what Robert put on his car. "FUCK BIN LADEN"

So anyway, the tour is supposedly delayed until January/February of 2002.

Now the big pisser is that we got 6 tickets to the show ... and now what? Maybe the theatre will take those tickets on the new day? Ah well...

    Peace,

VINYL? -> Yeah, I would think Ebay would be fine. I sold a mass of Vinyl last year in groups (U2, Maiden, Rush, Yes, and Priest) and though I didn't break the bank in fortunes, I did make a tad bit of money. Start low, aim high.

ARK -> I got 2 songs of theirs on various compilations. Man, that singer sounds like Coverdale, who is a great vocalist, so... but they DO sound somewhat like a slightly more progressive Whitesnake. In this day and age, that's a compliment. I look forward to seeing them at Progpower, but the production on the CD sounded a little tentative.

TESTAMENT -> Looking forward to hearing THIS. Their last CD, GATHERING, was great! A thankful and needed respite and departure fromt he 'Dog-faced Gods' style. I like their neo-progressive, quasi-power metal thrash leanings much better.

BRIAN -> Send me some information about your station (WIXQ). I am promoting my new CD, so this may be personally applicable to my continuing PR campaign (for what it now worth).

EVERGREY -> Borrowed the new one but haven't sat down to spin the damn thing yet. I can say, saw Evergrey at last years Progpower, wasn't trememndously impressed LIVE, and the CD had to grow on me. LIke it a lot (the last one) although Tom's voice takes some getting used to. Look forward to FINALLY listening to the new one, with a cold Dr. Pepper in one hand, and a spatula in the other (Weird Al reference).

    G'day peeps.
