<TESTAMENT -> Looking forward to hearing THIS. Their last CD, GATHERING,
    was great! A thankful and
needed respite and departure fromt he 'Dog-faced Gods' style. I like
    their neo-progressive,
quasi-power metal thrash leanings much better.>

ouch, low is one of my favorite albums from them. For some reason Demonic
doesnt sit well with me. the Gatheringa nd the enw one are my faves right
now, but Practice what you preach is working its way up there.

    PREACH!

Where can I get a copy of Ark- Burn the Sun for a reasonable price? Amazon
is selling it for over $30 because it's an import. Any ideas?

    http://www.cdconnection.com/ seems to have one
version for $11.61 and another version for $14.31.
They both appear to be the same.

OK all you shred-heads out there, I've just been witness to some NKOTB - in
terms of shred that is. Just got back from Jemfest here in London and have
been blown away completely by two of the bands here.

First off, Igor Belsky. Now this guy makes playing guitar look and sound
easy, and once you've heard what he plays, you'll realise what that means.
We're talking of a guitarist here in the vein of Satch, Joey Taffolla (Infra
Blue period), and Michael Lee Firkins all rolled into one, but not a clone
of any. Oh, and throw in some of Vai's whammy work as well! Very melodic
and very precise and clean. I'm sitting here listening to his debut CD
'Road Tested' and my jaw is permanently fixed to the floor! I bought the CD
on the strength of his live playing - can he pull it off? - Hell Yeah! And
this was the first live gig he's ever done - he even coped with a string
break and having to borrow Herman Li's - the guitarist from Dragonheart.
Now anyone who's had to play an unfamiliar guitar knows how difficult to
shred immediately - not Igor he just got stuck in and didn't miss a note.

Do yourselves a favour and check out his site www.shred.dircon.co.uk/belsky
The guy has had nothing but good reviews about his playing.

The headliners were a power metal band called Dragonheart. This was the
second time I've seen them. First time round was supporting Stratovarious
last year and they blew me away then. Now, I'm not the biggest power metal
fan, but the guitar playing of Herman Li simply has to be seen to be
believed. I kid you not when I say you really need a strobe to see what he
is fingering! Chris Impellitteri fast? He's in reverse compared with this
guy! Very melodic, fast band with a great singer. Remind me a bit of
Helloween in their prime, and of course Rhapsody and Stratovarious. What is
even more amazing is that they are not signed! What the hell is the state
of music in Britain if a band like this aren't signed!!??!! Some nice fast
double bass drumming and good bass and keyboards as well. Apparently
they've been the most downloaded power metal band over the past year on
    mp3.com.

Check them out as well at www.dragon-heart.net

I'm not normally one to go off on one about bands I've seen, but I think
that everyone here would have something to say about both Igor and
Dragonheart's playing, and I'd like to get some feedback to see what the
    general consensus is.

    Cheers

    Doug
