This is not primarily addressed to those who ran out to buy the album,
because they're big fans or anything, but to those who collect for the
purpose of selling items, and those who EBay...

There are people who are proud to own this album as a rare Dream Theater
collector's item. Question your motives. I question your integrity. Is
this something you want to profit from?

It is my hope that Dream Theater will refuse to sign that album cover on
tours, or will take the added step of destroying the cover when it's given
    to them to sign.

I agree that they didn't have any way of knowing this would happen, but at
the same time, I am purely disgusted by the idea that someone would rush out
to get this album, and sell it on EBay, or hang on to it for future value.
I simply think that intentionally leveraging your resources to benefit from
this tragedy makes you a worthless being.

Are you kidding? Not sign an album because the owner fast one
of the first buyers and thus probably one of the biggest fans?

I bought this album in its original form, because I want to
own a copy that looks the way it was intended to look. I like
the flaming heart picture on LATM and I like the idea to have
another live album with a similar cover artwork. Mind you I'm
not gonna sell anything DT-related, so money's not my goal.

I agree with you, in a way. But I do feel this recall and future destroying of
    this cover
is just a knee-jerk reaction to this tragedy. I dont feel theres anything wrong
with the artwork. Although and i want to be clear on this :
*The cover obviously needs to be recalled and maybe destroyed, but IMO its
because of people trying to make a profit out of this and not because of the
artwork being in any way wrong or evil or offensive*
DT is getting a bum wrap with all this negative hype about the cover having NY
    engulfed in flames
and whatnot...when this is not the case. BUT in light of the fact that people
    are already trying
to cash in on this tragedy by selling these discs on E-Bay, i agree with the
    recall...--

I am more of a skimmer of the list than an active reader or participant.
But i was wondering if anyone knows where Adam Perowosky ( please
forgive the misspelling) is, i have been watching for the last several
weeks and he appears to be absent from this list as well as freaks. He
ran a Fantasy hockey league last year on Yahoo for DT/Marillion
Fans.....just wondering if he doing it again this year, and if not if
the guys who were in the league last year would like to do it again.

I'm still here Trey, although a bit shaken by the
events that happened on Sept. 11, just around 10 miles
from where I live. As I write this, The Spirit Carries
On from Live Scenes from NY is playing and it is
nearly bringing me to tears. It's going to take a
while to get over what happened.

But to get away from that subject for a little bit, I
won't be able to run the Ytsejam Hockey League this
year due to the fact that I have to devote my time and
energy to two "money" NFL and NHL fantasy leagues.
It's just too much to keep track of. If anyone wants
to take over, I'll be glad to hand over the reins. I
still may join up if there are empty spots in the
league, but I wouldn't want to take up a spot that
someone who really wants to play would want.

    Take care,
    Adam Perkowsky

P.S.-Trey, close but no cigar on the spelling of my
    last name. :)

Do you really mean this? I'm a big DT fan. I know that there is no way
they could have meant for this cover to be offensive, and it doesn't
offend me. So you're hoping that they destroy MY property, that I
bought and paid for because someone else out there somewhere that isn't
going to see the CD would be offended by it if they did?

Do I get to determine which of your personal belongings should be
destroyed because they may offend me?

I think DT did the cautious thing by removing the CDs from the racks.
There's no telling who might see it a week or month from now that
doesn't know the whole story. But if the owner of the CD isn't offended
by it then I don't see the problem.

I agree that they should recall the album, and I know that you made it clear
that this wasn't directed to the people who bought the album because they
would've bought it regardless of the cover, but why should those people pay
not because the cover may be offensive, but because less than 1% of people
who bought the album are being assholes. I bought the CD on Wednesday, and it
sits on my CD shelf with all the other albums, and I have no intention of
selling it unless I'm homeless 20 years from now or something. Years from
now, it will be a noted piece of DT history, sure, but no more. I am a fan. I
bought the CD the first chance I could. If I asked John Myung to sign it and
instead he attempted to burn it, I'd bitch slap him. Not that I'd ask for an
autograph cause I think that's stupid.

    Anyways...

I preordered the album a while ago, and it got shipped to me by CDNOW, and
if i ever wanted DT to sign it, well i wouldn't understand if they didn't
want to, and would certainly be pissed if they destroyed it.
I don't intend to sell or auction this, but yes, it is very sad that some
people took advantage of this situation to profit from it.

    Perk!

After finally meeting you, glad you are alive. Funny as I was driving
home from NJ and getting on the NJ Turnpike I saw the skyline of NYC for
the first time and thought "WOW! So that is what that looks like."
Little did I know that that would be the last time I'd ever see it
looking like that. Hang tough fellow Ytse.

Of course, it was about the cover of LSiNY....

I got mine from an used record store that also stocks
new discs for 19.99 on Wednesday.....I didn't notice
the cover til later (I'm having strange Deja Vu here,
as if I've already written this forum on this subject,
so alpologies if I've done so) (that was a typo, but
it's kinda humorous, so I'll leave it be....never
needed a smile more than now, eh?)

I'm just curious, was that logo/symbol found anywhere
on the DVD/video version? (Obviously, i have yet to
obtain that item)....I'm guessing not, since when I
asked about Live Scenes at Media Play yesterday, the
DVD did turn up when the girl checked the computer.
The CD version was not on the shelves; nor did it turn
up on that computer, and in fact, the computer crashed
right after the girl made her database search.....make
    of that what you will.....

Yes, the logo was used on the DVD. It's there just as you open it up, on
    the inside.

Will they recall the DVD? Nope. Portnoy himself said that the only
reason the CD got so much attention was merely because of the release
date. If the CD had been released six months ago, there'd be no talk
    whatsoever of recalls.

If it hadn't been recalled ,those people wouldn't be able to sell these
    discs on
Ebay now. It's not about the artwork. It's about the CD not being available
    anymore
    because of the artwork.

You make a very good point my friend...
no recall, nothing special about the CD...
but since we, have been very oversensitive in the past few days...
A friend of mine had gotten the CD on thursday, found it on Border's @
$19!! I went there yesterday and they had been pulled. Yesterday i went
to a smaller shop and found the last copy, but it was $27.99! The guy behind
the counter assured me that the price ddnt have to do with the recall, since
    they
didnt even KNOW about one... I still bought it, since i wanted the show
    badly...-

A recommendation for everyone. French-Canadian band Grey Matter are amazing. All-instrumental band. Imagine if after I&W,
James left the band and Kevin Moore didn't. Samples available from Kinesis: http://www.kinesiscd.com The band's site:
    http://www.multimania/greymatter Check them out.

    Something for everyone...

    Rob
