I work for Best Buy Co., Inc., and the corporate direction has been to pull
the new live CD from the shelves until further notice. This affects all
Best Buy stores and well as other Best Buy enterprise stores like Sam Goody,
    On Cue, & Media Play.

    Thanks,

I would like Opeth as well if it weren't for the cookie monster vocals. I
went through a death metal phase back during high school but that was quite
    a while back now.. :)

Well, I don't know what the final decision about
pulling DT's new release from the shelves was, but the
album is no longer being sold by CDNow. I went to
check today and it has completely disappeared. It's
    not even listed...

There are NO cookie monster vocals, isn't his band called Sesame
    Street :) ?

You are missing out on some awesome bands with your dislike of
growling vox. They are far more exciting and progressive than the
    like's
of many bands that are raved about here.

Agreed, Specially with Opeth, they have some of the most interesting, dynamic, beautiful and downright KICK ASS music to hit the scene in a long time... definately worth checking out (and be re-listened to)

that may be the case, but only if you like that sort of thing. if you can't stand the vocals, and you find them unpleasant, than you're not really missing out on anything at all by not listening to something that you don't enjoy in the first place. i don't lose any sleep over it. :)

You would still be missing out on the music BEHIND those vocals... wouldnt you say the same thing to someone who dismisses the music of Dream Theater because they have "one of those 80's sounding , screaming singers with high pitched voice" ;)

the first thing that came to my mind was that i'm watching another hollywood movie. even today i can't realize that it was true. you know here in russia two years ago terrorists blow up several buildings in moscow and every week i hear about some terror acts in chechnya but noone can imagine such a tragedy. i'd heard about more than 10,000 victums and i can't imagine what were their last thoughts when they realize that there is no escape from the burning towers. in a moment several fanatics killed thousands and bring pain to millions. i do not know why it was happened? what was the purpose? such tragedies make people stronger. i wish you to rebuild the ruins and show those f***ing bastards what do you think about them.

every one in russian share your pain and pray for resquing as many people as possible

p.s. i do not think it is a good idea to change the cover of the new album. it would be better to keep it as a reminder of such a fatal tragedy.

I just went to my local Sam Goody and it had already been pulled from the shelves. Luckily I buy a lot of CDs so I know the guys there well. One guy, Jared, keeps all the good stuff on one end cap. The guy that had taken all the others off the shelf had forgotten about Jared's end cap, so I got the last one.

I feel bad for DT. I can't imagine how hard it was for them to swing a 3 CD set and then have this happen. Sorry guys.

I called Newbury comics at 10am this morning and they had em and put one aside for me. My gf went and picked it up an hour later and they weren't even aware of what was on the cover..

    A sad collectible indeed....

I got mine from Newbury Comics yesterday once I heard what was on the cover. While it is a sad (and almost disturbing) coincidence, I think recalling/removing the CDs are going a bit too far.

you're right, i would be missing out on the music BEHIND the cookie monster vocals. point well made about the DT thing. when someone writes them off because of labrie's vocals (as has happened), i am very quick to point out to the person the musicianship of the other band members. however, it's simply for the sake of them acknowledging the fact that there is honest talent in the instrument playing, regardless of the preference of vocals. that should in no way mean they should like how the overall musical product sounds though. i never said that these bands (opeth, meshuggah, etc.) didn't have talented instrumentalists behind them. in fact, they're quite good. being a drummer & a songwriter, i can completely appreciate what they are doing. good arrangements, unbelievable playing, yadda yadda. but also being a trained vocalist of over 10 years, i can't appreciate, enjoy, or find musical merit behind screaching, growling, shrieking, and whatever other noises some of these bands resort to. cradle of (crap) filth has to be my all time favorite example when it comes to vocals. unreal. NOT a singer. anyhow, whether i appreciate the instrumentation or not, if i don't like the sound produced on the whole, vocals included, then i don't listen to it. i would expect the same of those who like DT's instrumentation, but can't stand labrie. no love lost. "that's my story, & i'm sticking to it." :)
