I downloaded a program from Neato.com called MediaFACE II, for making CD
jewel case inserts and similar stuff. Anyone have experience with it? If
so, how do you get the text to go vertically on the spine of the insert?
I've tried everything and can't seem to find the answer. The obvious way
would seem to be to use the 90 degree rotation buttons, but they are always
greyed out and unusable. If this can't be done, or no one knows how, can
anyone suggest another program I could use for making jewel case inserts? I
use Nero for buring and its jewel case creater won't allow text modification
and, of course, I can't use that portion of the Adaptec software cause it
interfers with the Nero software. Any help is appreciated. Private email
is fine, if you prefer. Thanks,

    ~Matt

This is going too far. There is nothing wrong with this cover, for three
    reasons:

    1. This is a band that doesn't exactly pull in the dough from average
consumers. i.e. The average consumer wouldn't be walking down and aisle in
Wal-Mart or Target and even see the album, much less pay any attention to
    it.

    2. The people that will buy the album are the fans, plain and simple, that
is the only market for this product. And as the fans we know where this
image comes from: An album from 12 years ago that pictures a heart wrapped
in thorns on fire. The heart is changed to an apple due to the fact that
the performance was recorded in the "Big Apple." And as such the skyline
was added. It in no way implies that the city is on fire. It is a
silhouette added to an image from 12 years ago.

    3. This was designed long before Tuesday, there was no intention behind it,
    it was just a coincidence.

    chris

I too feel for the band. Luckily Circuit City had one copy. Best Buy,
Coconutsm and a local CD shop hadn't even heard of the band or album. It
wasn't in their computer either. So this is really a non-issue.

    Hello all,

I don't post very much, but thought I would add my 2 pennies. I picked
up my copy of Lives Scenes at a Media Play yesterday. It was the last
copy on the shelf and the 16 year-old behind the counter had to check
with her manager if it was OK to sell it to me. I looked at the guy and
said, 'I just like the music.' Fortunately, he let the sale go through.
     I'm guessing I own a one-of-a-kind collector's item now.

As far as the performance goes, and forgive me if I am repeating any
past comments, but the portions of Caught in a New Millennium that are
Caught in a Web remind me of the version of CIAW when I saw DT during
the Fix for 96. (I went to 2 shows). Anyone else notice that? Either
    way, it kicks major ass.

    Later.

This terroristic event, this fatal tragedy will be talked about years. We
now live in the dawn of a new era, and it scares me to think of what
    tomorrow brings.

as for the new CD's, I was able to get mine from Sam Goody. It was
positioned on the new release wall. It is very hard to look at the cover.
I have to agree that the band and the record company, as well as all stores
that have pulled it from shelves are making the right decision.

When I pointed the cover art out to the cashier, she srugged her shoulders
and said "I doubt anyone will even notice."

My heart goes out to all who have been affected by this horrible event. It
is now time to the doubters that you may be able to break our buildings, but
you cant crack our foundation. We as a country will rebuild with stronger
spirits, and more love for one another. God Bless The United States of
    America.

I agree. Not exactly 'cookie-monster' (isn't GROVER vocals more appropo to most death
metal anyhow?) but certainly, somewhat un-melodic and more 'extreme' in tonal quality
than your average QR/FW/DT clone band. I quite like Meshuggah actually, the music
crushes, though I admit, the vocals wear on me after a bit. I compare it to Dave
Matthews Band & the Cranberries (not in style, though!) in that the music is
incredible, BUT the vocal style is grating after long periods of time. Go figure. As
for the DT CD cover change, well, I can understand their stand. I think the record
company has more to lose by NOT changing it, the band, well, they are bound more by
    principle, than the label.

Well, my local record store still had 3 copies of LSFNY right out on the
shelf! I bought one and asked if they were about to pull it. They hadn't
heard a thing about it being pulled! Then again, this is a small store and
not part of any big music retail chain. Personally, even in light of the
terrible disaster, I think the cover is very artistic and quite innocent.
However, I certialy understand the reasons for pulling it.

that was my thought too. i know people that have that software & use it
religiously without a problem. the downside of shareware: it's great to
be able to get your hands on cool software for free, until you realize
that you can't do anything really cool with it without coughing up the
    green.

In Milwaukee, WI on WRZQ 102.9 FM (Lazer 103), they are playing The Spirit
Carries On (the Live LSFNY version) as a tribute song to all the victims of
Tuesday's attack. The DJ even went so far as to talk about the CD being
released the same day as the tragedy and the song seeming like it was meant
for this occassion. Not a single word about the cover art issue. And this
is a radio station where I've heard DT played maybe 3 times in the last 4
    years.

This is not a cheap way to have DT cash in on a tragedy, but if you really
listen to the words of The Sperit Carries on, I think this song is
appropriate to the healing of this country from the WTC attacks, and I
think it needs to be played on radio more as a tribute to the heroic
efforts of rescue workers, many of which who died. Really listen to the
words of this song, I srongly believe that this song speaks more than as a
part of the story it revoles around. Even the live version, which is so
much more powerful than the original, even thougyh I can't get out to get
the lsfny yet. If anybody can do it, please call you radio stations and see
if we can get them to play it. Not to pump DT and get them popular, but to
help in healing America. It worked with STyx's Show me the Way ten years
ago. Hell, that song needs to be dusted off and played again. it is
relevant, and I think we need to have it played. Come to think of it, why
not Nobody's hero, by Rush? I can probably think of hundreds of more songs
that this country can use to heal itself or lean on as an anchor to build
our sperits again. I don't want to turn this into a thread with no meaning,
but what other songs in our genre of music would be a good soundtrack for
this tragedy? I am almost compelled to burn a CD with this stuff on it as a
    kind of therapy for myself.

    Hey there,

All the corporate stores, Best Buy, Circuit City, Sam Goody etc. are recalling the Cd. I went to 5 stores today to find it. Your local independent seller or used/new cd stores will probably have them. I got mine from a huge used cd place. Try those places if you can. I do understand the reason why it was pulled. It is a shame that they worked so hard on this & it has to end up this way. In similar news, the recent cover of a flexible eyeglass frame catalog shows the twin towers "flexing" sideways to avoid an airplane. That's another great bit of symbolism that came at the worst possible time. I'm sorry to everyone who has lost someone close to them. God bless you all.

After failing to find the new album on Thursday at Best Buy and Media Play, I found it today at an independent store that had not pulled it (but said they were waiting for word from the label). For you Detroiters, the place is "Record Time" on Gratiot.

At least one Tower Records here in San Diego, CA had tons of copies... On Wednesday they were behind the front counter, but today they were back in the rack in the normal DT section.

I've just been reading the new edition of Classic Rock magazine, and it's got some info from Mike Portnoy about the forthcoming DT studio album.

I'm not going to give anything away (buy the magazine if you want to know!), but I'm excited about it. :-)

Anyway, if you have a second copy, PLEASE let me know. Thanks again you guys. You have all helped me in the past, but this one might be a tough one :) Jason ------------------

So everyone knows, I have reported all overpriced copies of LSFNY on EBAY to EBAY's Safe Harbor and I also reported EBAY to New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. This is disrespectful behaviour and nothing short of price gouging. I emailed MP to let him knwo as well. I will keep everyone posted on this. I find it disgusting that people are attempting to profit from this tragedy.
