This French-Canadian band from Quebec is _seriously_ good. Think of
what Trevor Rabin-era Yes **should** have been, with a better keyboard
player than Tony Kaye and a better drummer than Alan White -- sort of a
cross between Yes and Fates Warning, or a very heavy version of
Echolyn -- and you'll get an idea of what these guys sound like. Track
two, "Amora Demonis," is blowing me away as we speak.

Wow. Order this from www.lasercd.com ASAP. Prog-rock and prog-metal
fans *need* to hear this band. Wonderful, original stuff.

    THE BAND:
Jocelyn Beaulieu - lead & backing vocals (can this guy SING!),
    six-string electric & classical guitars
Denis Jalbert - six and twelve-string electric and acoustic guitars,
    backing vocals
Francis Doucet - Hammond C-3 organ, Mellotron, Mini-Moog, Roland
    synthesizers
Jean-Francois Desilets - fretted & fretless electric bass, Taurus & MIDI
bass pedals, lead & backing vocals
Yves Jalbert - drums, percussion & backing vocals

OK I have read and re-read some of the things that were said here, but I
just don't get it??? I agree that Tue was one of the worst days in our
great Nations history. But to get pissed at people on eBay??? Do I want a
copy of the CD.....YES. Did I get one yet....NO. If I went to a store and
they had 2 would I buy both and sell one.....most likely yes. Is that
making money because of the tragedy or because some record company feels it
was in the best taste to pull the CD???? I was at the mall yesterday
(looking for the CD in fact), and I could not get over ALL the tee-shirts
for sale with 9/11/01 and other things on them. Why is this any better,
THIS IS making $$ on the tragedy. If someone wants to spend $100 on a CD,
that really has nothing to do with what happened, that is up to
them. eBay is a market place. If you want to buy stuff, BID, if you
    don't than do bid.

    Hi, Matt

I don't send this off-list because other people might be interested, too.
I just checked this program out, and the buttons are greyed out
because they're just for editing pictures.
There's the solution: Create the text you want to have in the spines,
then right-click it and select the properties of the text. Change the text
    style from "Simple"
to "Angled" and define the angle as 90 or 270 degrees.
Then you have to place the text in the spines again.
    That's all. Have fun.
BTW: Seems to be a really full working piece of freeware in my eyes without
    any restrictions.

Did you not get one Ptacek? :)
If you did, are you destroying it and buying the reissue?

I did buy a bunch, but I'm selling them at my cost right now. ($30 inc tax)
to fans who couldn't get one.
Ebay has cancelled all the auctions for them, but when they allow it I will
list them for $30, because that's the only place I know where to sell them,
and I can't afford to give them away for free.
I can't help if the price goes up, that's supply and demand. It's only a cd,
it's not like I'm trying to sell pieces of the WTC...

Are the proceeds from the sale of the CDs on ebay going to the relief effort? I don't think so! Most of the t-shirt and other stuff meant as a memorial that I have seen have a portion being donated. Ebay has ban the sale of trade center stuff that is why none of the sellers are mentioning the fact that the towers are on the cover.

being a GREAT fan of dt i will always remember that day even if the cover will be changed to another one i think that many people (except dt fans) were not concerned about new cd cover before it was discussed in the news. fans can't imagine that someone's mind can link those things (the tragedy and the cover) together. people saying that burning flames remind them of the tragedy. ok lets ban every burning flame - the cover, the album, everything.. does it help you - NO you still have a picture of burning towers in your mind. everyone who had seen it once can't forget it. did you hear the last phone call from the tower. the girl stuck in the tower called her husband to say that she loves him. you can't forget those things but if you did take a look at the cover, listen to the misic and you will remember. our duty is to remember it always and make everything not happen it in the future.

"And as you can imagine, as the skies have grown darker here over Washington, the mood has grown darker as well and people here are beginning to resign themselves to the possibility that they are witnessing yet another tragedy in a long string of misfortunes."

p.s. i realy like the 3 reasons to keep the cover.

As for the DT CD cover change, well, I can understand their stand. I think the record company has more to lose by NOT changing it, the band, well, they are bound more by principle, than the label. I would hope, though, they would keep the cover. It stands as something of a testament to coincidence, and events, timely or not, that will forever be etched into our collective pysche. Besides, DT are NY residents, anyhow.

FYI, I just ordered "Live Scenes from NY" last night on amazon.com before having read any of the Ytsejam comments about what to do about people who profit from the CD's perceived scarcity -- they didn't have a thumbnail picture of the cover, perhaps because of this issue. I don't know that they'll actually ship it, but if you want the CD then you could try there. Yes, I actually wanted the CD for the music. While I certainly understand why DT would want to remove the CD with that cover art from the shelves -- I'd feel sicker than I do now if that had been my CD released that day -- and it is their right to do so with their own property, I can't agree with the idea of banning or destroying already purchased CDs when you see them. The idea of living in a free society is that some people do distasteful things, and we may not like it, but it is their right to do so while it doesn't harm other people. That includes selling a CD for a profit. I would speak out against anyone selling this CD just to take advantage of it's scarcity since it is a cruel thing to do, but it is not right to destroy their property because you disagree with them (and they're causing no direct harm). The last thing that we should be considering is restricting people's liberties because of what has happened -- that would be a little like giving in to the terrorists and I don't think any of us want that. The terrorists live in a society where there is little tolerance for those with 'different' opinions and even less tolerance for opinions that the leaders find distasteful. We also must be careful not to give away our civil liberties because we're hurt and angry. The price of freedom is steep and it includes tolerance of opinions that might make you feel sick. In fact, it is only meaningful if it includes those kinds of opinions since it can hardly be called freedom if we only allow those things which we like.

My opinion on the ebay issue is this:

If you buy the CD to sell on ebay, starting the price at cost, then I have very little problem with it. The price going up and what not is indeed a case of supply and demand at work. However, if you buy the CD and set the starting price (or reserve) at much more than the actual cost, then you're a greedy bastard and if I see your auction posted, I'll write both you and a ebay a mean letter about it.

Some people just make me sick.

Hey everyone, I have a friend who wanted to auction off the extra copy of "Live Scenes From New York" that he bought last Tuesday. He was going to auction the CD off starting at $20 (his cost). If the bids were higher, he was going to donate anything over $20 to the Red Cross. At first, he was going to run an auction with a "Buy It Now" price of $20, just so that someone who couldn't get the CD would be able to get it at the normal price.

eBay is no longer accepting auction for LSFNY and is wiping out those that are still running. It's a shame that my friend can't do the right thing, yet there are scumbags on eBay who are setting the "Buy It Now" price at $90! I did see one LSFNY auction where someone bid $1,499. Of course, that was a fake bid to make sure that nobody won the auction.

    Take care, Adam Perkowsky
