Hey athrap :)
Those ads were printed 6 weeks in advance. Evidently, no one thought to
recall the ads, or maybe that wasn't even possible. Those ad bundles that
come with your newspaper are bundled at least 2 weeks in advance too, so it
would be pretty labor intensive to go in and pull the "offending" ones.
LSFNY rules, btw.

I was the one who works for Best Buy and mentioned that corporate direction
was to pull the CD off the shelves. I was also in one of the stores last
week and purchased an additional copy. They will sell the CD, but it cannot
be displayed. Just ask a sales associate.
On the advertising portion. Our ads are produced 4 weeks prior to the ad
date based on the time it takes for printing and shipping to newspapers. We
did make the change to the insert in the Boston, NYC, and Washington DC
markets at an additional cost of $200,000. Obviously there was no
predicting a catastrophe like what happened on 9/11/01, but I think
companies like Best Buy and Electra among others are making changes at their
expense to not bring light to such a terrible incident.
Thanks,
Tim

someone on this list last week (2 weeks ago?) talked
about working for best buy, or some related company,
and the fact that they had recalled the DT disc. The
record company itself recalled the LSfNY with the WTC
cover, and that's 10 days old news now....
so why does the most recent Best Buy Sunday paper
insert have Live Scenes from New York featured as "new
music from a developing artist"?
(i think it was the most recent....now that i think
about it, i didn't see the date on it.....then again,
it HAD to be the most recent....it also showed an ad
for Queensryche's "Live Evolution" which doesn't come
out until Tuesday.....)
anyone know who at Best buy isn't reading the
newspaper?

Well, we all appreciate off-topic threads for pure entertainment value as much as on-topic threads for related DT news, anyhow, Michelle, or should I clarify that and indicate that I do. Personally, I am much awaiting the DT STUDIO release. I am in the minority here, but LIVE CD's do not do much for me other than deplete the wallet and bank account. I usually prefer studio recordings to live ones as it stands.
Now, where's that NKOTB re-union CD when you need it?

They must have also pulled LSFNY from the Pennsylvania market, because I liv e in Philadelphia and I'm looking at the Best Buy ad right now, and it is the one with Queensryche's live CD, but no mention of Dream Theater. The "Breakthrough Artists" in this ad are listed as Remy Zero and Soil.
For those who do have the LSFNY Best Buy ad, what does the little paragraph say under the image of the cover?

LOL! What fun to come home from the Jordan (& Friends) Benefit concert to find that I'm a subject on the 'jam. *grin*
Yes, I was once a NKOTB fanatic... (gasp!) and I still think Joey is a cutie (anyone see him in the movie The Fantasticks? me-OW!). And you know what? Sometimes I still bust out the Step By Step CD.. just for kicks.. ;-)
In DT related news.. Jordan's benefit was wonderful and uplifting.. According to the Exec. Producer of the HHPAC (I think that's who the gentleman was, anyway.) they probably raised close to (if not over) $10,000 for the Red Cross. Woo! Go Jordan and Friends! :-)

Ok, here's my cunning plan if you live near a Best Buy. They have LSFNY advertised this week for $17.99 which is the lowest price I've seen anywhere. Go there and of course they won't have any, so get a raincheck, then when the new one comes out on 10/23 you can get it cheap. trevor
