Vanden Plas' "Nightwalker" from Beyond Daylight. I think I've got most
of the chorus down, except the last line.

The booklet has the chorus like this:

(Yeah, I thought the "Impaled by Cyrus" bit was a little
odd, myself. Not that the rest of the song is much more
coherent.)

Beard and FK sound kinda like transatlantic. Marillion doesn't.
I'm not much of a music reviewer, so I won't try to describe
them all that much. But here's my shot at helping you out:
First, all three are worth a shot. You won't be wasting your
money on any of them if you like Xatlantic and DT, in my
opinion.
FK - my least favorite of the three. I have four albums, all of
which sound vaguely similar. In order, among those I have,
I'd say get Space Revolver first (maybe not the best, but the
most varied), Stardust We Are (the best of the 4, but kind of
same-sounding, to my ears), then Flower Power. I also have
the live one "Alive on Planet Earth", which isn't anything
special. I can't comment on the others.
SB - Better than FK. I think Transatlantic sounds much more
like SB than FK, if that helps. Most things that Mr Morse is
involved in sound a lot like SB, for that matter. I own all their
released albums, having more money than sense. :-) Again,
in order, I'd get V, Day For Night, Beware of Darkness, The
Kindness of Strangers, then The Light. D4N and BoD are
probably tied for 2nd, in there. Get any of the live stuff after
the studio stuff, it's nothing all that tremendous.
Marillion - my favorite of the 3, one of my top-5 favorite bands
(DT, The Gathering, After Crying, Renaissance are the others),
the creators of my all-time favorite album, and the creators of
the 2nd "prog" album I ever bought (1st was Images and Words.)
Marillion is really two groups; they changed a lot when their
original lead singer (Fish) left, and their new one (Steve Hogarth)
joined. I'd buy the Fish-era albums in the following order:
Misplaced Childhood (this is the "second prog album I owned"),
Script for a Jester's Tear, Clutching At Straws, Fugazi. I realize
that I am in something of a minority in not liking Fugazi.
Among the H albums, I'd get Season's End first, then Afraid of
Sunlight. If you like AoS more, get Brave next (this is my favorite
album of all time, but probably not a good intro to the band for
a fan of Transatlantic). If not, save Brave for later, and get
This Strange Engine, then maybe Anoraknophobia. They go
downhill fast from here, so get Brave next if you skipped it
earlier, and save Holidays in Eden, Radiation, and Dot-Com for
last.
Actually, and this is a strange statement... if you're into bands
such as Mogwai, or Godspeed You Black Emperor!, you might
want to start with Brave. They don't sound anything alike, but
I think they have the same sort of feel. (Was that vague
enough for everyone? :-)
The two double live sets, The Thieving Magpie (Fish) and Made
Again (Hogarth) are also good stuff.
The four Fish albums, along with AoS, HiE, SE, and Brave, come
in two-disc "remastered" editions. The remastering doesn't help
the Hogarth era stuff much, but the Fish-era stuff needed it. All
are worthwhile for the second discs full of B-sides and demos
and such. Seasons End probably has the best B-sides; "The
Release" and "The Bell in the Sea" could've been on the original
album, easily.
If you're on a budget, and you can get a hold of it, they have a
two-disc set called "The Best of Both Worlds" that's a good intro
to the band. (Although, finding sound samples on the web is
probably a better choice, if your on a budget, I guess. :-)
And a plug for my friends on Ytseradio: you can stop by there
and hear a lot of this stuff. DJ George is a big Marillion and SB

I thought it was more of the other way round. On LSFNY and 6DOIT Myung has switched to a classic growly, rock solid Jazzbass-type of sound (probably supported by changing the bodywood of his Yamaha signature from basswood to alder) with which he can make himself be heard just as good, if not even better (b/c this type of sound is more forceful per se, as well as most sound engineers being used to it more than anything else), than with the more brilliant sound on I&W and LATM (using Spector resp. Tobias).

Just a little note on the Paris show that came back up in a conversation I had yesterday : I don't know if any of you ever saw a rush of fans on the stage during a DT show but we did witness this one. In Paris some got passed the security and on stage because so many fell between the gates and the stage at the same time. In a flash the rodies (is it written like that), I especially remember JPe's and MPo's rodies, did a rugby number on them pinning them to the ground. In the meantime JPe and JMy just stood back a little and kept playing (a little amused ;) ). It happened so quickly and of ALL the concerts I've seen I never saw rodies do that (is it part of their job ?). Well, the fans weren't at all menacing and the rodies weren't violent it was just a case of pinning them down so as to let the music flow normally.

Am I the only person who feels no guilt at all from still having a couple of home-burnt cd-r's with 6DOIT on them having refused to pay nearly 30 quid or 43 us dollars for the album.
All i can say is thank heavens for Audiogalaxy at times like this, sure the band are losing out, but by how much, i tried e-mailing Elektra through their customer contact section on their website but it came back as undeliverable.
This is a big deal to me and I feel thoroughly marginalised by such ridiculous marketing.
The only bummer is that in burning the title track of 6doit onto one cd i cant get rid of the gaps in between songs so i dont get that flow, but hey i can live with that for the timebeing until the price comes down

I thought the very same thing. Mike's drums for me don't cut through the mix like they did on albums such as Awake and A Change Of Seasons so as a result seem to have been louder. I much prefer the sound of his kit on these two CDs than the last three albums. Kevin Shirley seems to get a very thin, dull sound from the band when he mixes them.
Awake for me is their album with the best 'sound' as everything is so clear (by sound I mean sound of instruments and not the music in general).
