Lol! I almost mentioned that the only difference was
the vocals... Of course the unfortunate similarity
between the two singers is that people like to
complain about both of them. ;o)

Hear ye, hear ye !!!! Superior are FANTASTIC and to me are in a league far
above Twilight in Olympus (note that I love V and DWOT, so this is no slam
on SX .....). Truth-be-told, I dont want to start a discussion on whether
the new Superior CD is better than the new DT CD because the results may be
a little surprising.
I do help Superior distribute their CDs in the US and Canada so I am biased
but I will also will put my money where my mouth is. If you Chris love
progressive metal and aren't afraid of a little heaviness every so often, I
will personally give you a money back guarantee if you do not like what you
get. Try Ultima Ratio which is US$18 postpaid and signed by the band.
Here's the fine print. You have to agree to listen to the CD at least three
times in full and with an open mind. If after listening to it you dont like
what you hear, simply return it to me within two weeks of your receipt for a
full refund of your $18. (Please dont trash the CD, cover or liners, eh ??
....). CDs are available online from the band. You order there and I take
care of getting the CD for you. Credit Card (new !!!) or Money Order.
In fact, I am so sure that I wont be getting anything back in the mail that
for any NEW CD ORDER of Ultima Ratio from any Ytsejammer, I will offer the
same "no-questions" money back guarantee to the whole of the list. Same
fine print as above (and I will be a prick about the two-week thing - no
exceptions). Just e-mail mail me when you order the CD to set this
arrangement up.
Note that Superior band members *do* lurk here and are about the shit a
brick right now since I haven't spoken about any of this with THEM. But
rest assured that it is me (Mark) who will take all financial risk for this
and zero financial risk will be from the band. Their new CD is so good that
it absolutely has to be heard. I dont expect any returns. CALL MY BLUFF -
you will be glad that you did !!!!!

Actually, The Laser's Edge has the Superior cds for $12 (Ultima Ratio), $13 (Behind) and $9 (Younique). Add about $3 for S & H (check the precise amounts on their page, www.lasercd.com) and it doesn't end up being a bad price at all. All That I Bleed's cd is also available there for $12, Zero Hour's for $13, and Spiral Architect's for $13.
Oh, and about DT on the CBS Morning Show, that's great news!!!!! What song do you think they would play? If it has to be a short song, I think they would play Misunderstood, without the end noise, but preferrably not the radio edit, although that edit isn't bad at all.

The Superior CD is $20 due to being an import. I'd recommend
starting with Superior's "Ultima Ratio" which I think is a little more
DT influenced (doesn't sound like DT though). They have a number of
samples on their web site (www.meet-superior.de) so you can try before
you buy.

Yo dawg's, if anyone's interested, I have the Booklet to John Petrucci's ROCK
DISCIPLINE video (minus the video, lol). I'm in the process of minimalizing my
personal inventory of... er, material stuff, and if anyone wants/needs it, let me
know. Now back to the regularly scheduled field trip into Ytsejam land...

I had a friend online who used to constantly send me mp3s of music that he
thought I'd like. He was almost always right on with the stuff he'd send,
and one day he mentions Radiohead to me. He swore that I'd just love it.
Of course, I listened to it, and I couldn't STAND it. I think he probably
sent me 10 different songs, and I usually give every new song someone sends
me 2 full listens before I start judging, but I just couldn't believe how
far off he was with these guys. It completely boggled my mind.
Fast forward about 2 weeks. I was feeling sorta melancholy and was
listening to music while sitting online. I had just had a rough day at work
and was trying to unwind, and started deleteing some of my mp3s because I
hadn't cleaned them out in a while. Well, most of the mp3s this guy sends
me are only the song titles because he burns them and never bothers changing
the title of the file. That means that I had to listen to a few seconds of
most of the songs before I deleted them, so that I didn't accidentally
delete anything I wanted to keep. I start playing this song called, "Exit
Music (for a film)" and almost immediately got caught up in it. After that,
I listened to a song called "Lucky" and loved that one too, but I couldn't
remember what band it was! I messaged my friend and asked who did them,
since I knew he was the one who had sent them and he said, "Duh! That's
Radiohead!" I couldn't believe it. I could've sworn that they sucked when
I had listened last time. I asked what the other songs were that he had
sent me and listened to them, and liked almost all of them. Hell, I even
liked "Idioteque" and I couldn't figure out how it was possible I liked that
song.
The moral? I guess, IMO, most peoples' opinions on Radiohead seem to differ
with their mood. It's not swinging, happy-go-lucky music. For me, it's
reflective, because when I listen to it, it sets a tone. I don't listen
closely to all the different parts. I absorb the atmosphere of the entire
song.
It definitely took several listens before I could appreciate what I was
listening to, and I don't honestly know, if I hadn't been moody that day, I
might have just deleted the songs. I'm pretty damn glad that I didn't
though. :)

Can anyone connect me with Michael Romeo of Symphony X? I am considering
the possibility of funding a live DVD project for Symphony X (it doesn't
look like their label will do it).

Hmm, I'd suggest http://www.theendrecords.com, which has Superior's Ultima Ratio for $12, with free shipping. I had the 5 CDs I ordered from them last week.........last week. VERY fast service. Kudos to Andreas at The End! Their mail-order catalog is well-worth browsing online.
The CDs I got, BTW, were the new Dark Tranquillity, Nightwish, Forsaken, Cannibal Corpse and Theory in Practice.

-------- Original Message -------- Subject: joe satriani news alert: stolen guitar!
hi everyone, we are sad to be sending out this news alert but joe and his management wanted to send out an appeal to all of you fans out there to keep your eyes peeled for this stolen guitar.
here's a message from joe that sums it all up:
My "Pearly" Chrome Ibanez guitar was stolen last night during load out at the Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Fl. If anyone knows anything about this please let us know asap...Not much else to say...Joe...
a reward of $500 is being offered, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. all joe is asking is to have the guitar brought to the venue and given to the hall or production manager.
joe had two prototypes made by ibanez for the custom chrome guitar. both "Pearly" and "Chrome Boy" have been played extensively on tour and record. joe is obviously hopeful that the guitar will be recovered.
here's a link to a recent picture of joe with pearly: http://www.satriani.com/2000/road/lwpg.cgi?showimg 02-08-11/P0003865.jpg
if you have any other information about Pearly, please email mick@satriani.com
(please don't reply to this email since it won't be seen)
we appreciate you keeping your eyes open and ears to the ground.
thanks, --webmaster
