I'm afraid you're wrong there - the only reason why Ozzy's concert was on TV
was because of the success of the Osbourne's TV show. No other reasons why.
And even if eMpTy V was to actually start supporting metal again, it certain
wouldn't be *good* metal - it would be that trendy nu-metal crap. Hell will
freeze over before eMpTy V starts supporting real metal...

Damn! I know, it's more than ten bands, but that's a pretty potent
lineup, wouldn't you say?

Arabesque, from Holland, is the best female-fronted prog-metal band I've
heard since Nightwish, Edenbridge, and Sinphonia, and I actually like
them better than any of those bands. They've actually got TWO excellent
female vocalists, a killer guitarist, a fantastic keyboard player who
likes to use a lot of piano in addition to the usual organ and
synthesizers, and a phenomenal rhythm section. And as if that wasn't
enough, they write great songs with memorable vocal melodies. Arabesque
is, simply put, of the best bands - period - that I've had the pleasure
of hearing in a long time. I can't recommend their brand-new debut
album, "The Union," highly enough. You can order it from The Laser's
Edge at www.lasercd.com.

Forgive me if I'm skeptical, but I believe the main thing
driving this is $$$$$. Ozzie runs a festival that showcases
a bunch of nu-metal bands who want to get tv/radio time. MTV
makes money off that genre, and MTV makes money off Ozzie's
family. So they put ozzy on tv to promote their programming
and make them more money.

No this is just MTV cashing in and milking Ozzy for everything he is
worth. The Osbournes was the most watched show in cable TV history if I
am correct, so they wanna feature him all the time. Metal will be back
on MTV when I see videos by these bands who were on the ball all the
time:
Slayer
Sepultura
Iron Maiden
COC
Dream Theater (yes thats where I was introduced, I remember when they
premiered LIE)
and so on, Fuck MTV.

HBO or one of the other big guns has probably got 'em beat in terms of
'most watched in cable TV history', but I have heard it is the most
all-time popular MTV program.
Metal, legit metal at any rate, won't come back to MTV. They're a
business, and, thinking like a business, they'll favor whatever brings 'em
the most money. These days, that's in crap-rock and "teen idols". But it
all doesn't really matter -- metal seems to be doing well enough without
the support of the media.

Michael Kiske is, as someone already said, the ex-lead singer of Helloween. He sang in Helloween after Kai Hansen gave up the lead singer role. IMO, he is one of the most incredible singers ever. He has an amazing range, and does not use falsetto to reach the higher notes, so he remains powerful all throughout his range. The vibratto in his voice is simply beautiful. His technique is just perfect. He is the definition of a power metal singer. I can not describe the reason why, but there is just something that separates him from the rest of the singers, no matter how good the are. I think the person that comes the closest to reaching his divinity status is probably Bruce Dickinson (who, by the way, sang impeccably on Iron Maiden's most recent and probably best live recorded performance, Rock in Rio). If you want to listen to Kiske, I suggest you start with Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys pt. 2, which I consider to be the # 1 power metal album of all time, the de!
fining moment of the genre, a classic. You could also get Helloween's Pink Bubbles Go Ape, which I consider to be Kiske's best performance, his peak, although this does not mean he has gone downhill since then. Just listen to his performance in Avantasia, his latest contribution, to assure you that he still remains as the leader of the pack. Also, I've heard that he has a new band called In Sense which is supposed to be releasing an album soon. Anybody has any information about this?
Alexis
