You can find samples of Arabesque at www.arabesque-site.com.
It's one of the more annoying and ugly web sites I've used but at least
it has a few samples. Why webmaster would think that taking up your
entire screen with their web page is a good idea I can't understand.
At least they give you an option for non-full-screen mode but it
    doesn't work with Mozilla.
Oh, and the samples sounded cool.

Wow.. I just spent close to an hour browsing around on Portnoy's archives..
    great stuff.

Looks like Alex has put on some weight... and Geddy Lee sure favors Howard
    Stern does he not? haha
Thanks for that link, Dom !

Going back to DT: have you checked out the pic of Mike Portnoy with
Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson? If not, you can find it here (courtesy of
    Scott Hansen):

    Thanks for reading!

Alright, maybe good metal isn't back on MTV, maybe it never will be, but, even if MTV is trying to milk Ozzy for everything he's worth, his music being played on MTV can be considered a step forward. I mean, you could actually see a pretty good guitar player (Zakk Wylde) playing real solos on MTV. This probably won't be the beginning of good metal on MTV, but there is a remote chance that it could be a catalyst towards that end.

I knew that subject would catch your attention :P

But seriously, I've been listening heavily into the Kevin Moore
demos..totally different music but truly wonderful imho. I'm very much
into this type of music that kinda makes you drift away..very
atmospheric and tranquil (hint: Wednesday The Sky). What I was wondering
is if anyone here knows anything similar to KM's stuff that could be
worthwhile listening to. I'd hate myself if there was plenty where that
came from and I didn't have the chance to find out about it :)

    Hi all,
Long time, no post. I just wanted to extend a quick invitation to all those in the Los Angeles area to come check out my band's show at Paladino's (6101 Reseda Blvd., Tarzana, CA) on August 23rd. We're going to be the main opening act for none other than guitar wiz Richie Kotzen! Kotzen's band will be rounded out by his Mr. Big cohort Pat Torpey on drums and former Ozzy bassist Phil Soussan. We go on at 10:30pm and tickets will be $12 at the door. But if you buy the tickets in advance from our website, www.madisonpaige.net, they're only $5 a pop! Not bad for a night of shredding. Hope to see as many of you there as possible.

    Richie

P.S. As for DTC- anyone else excited about the possibility of hearing Kevin Moore and Mike Portnoy together again?

    Hi, folks:

The latest Artist Shop newsletter is out and you'll find it in its entirety
at <http://www.artist-shop.com/news.htm>. Meanwhile, here are some excerpts
    for Ytsejammers.

Coming soon from Magna Carta <http://www.artist-shop.com/magna>
    Explorers Club/Raising the Mammoth ....CD
Four tracks, two tracks, 44 tracks or just one (that's lead expeditioner
Trent Gardern's choice)... no matter how you carve up this Mammoth, a dark,
delicious and difficult progressive rock steak dinner awaits those brave
enough to attack and hack. But in simple terms here's the deal: Trent
Garnder (Magellan, Leonardo, the first Explorers Club album and countless
other heavy roles on other prog works), is mental central, using the
Explorers Club platform as launching pad for his profuse and spiritually
replenishing art rock concepts. So this is the second Explorers Club album.
The line-up is similar to the first with some key differences. New to the
six-string chapter of the club are ex-Megadeth axeman Marty Friedman, Kansas
legend Kerry Livgren and Shadow Gallery's Gary Wehrkamp, who provide most of
the album's crunch. At vocals, James LaBrie is back, co-working
'Vertebrates.' Zappa's Terry Boxxio is back as well. But it is the
presence of Steve Walsh on 'Passage to Paralysis' and 'Broad Decay' that
really puts a new stamp on the Explorers travelogue. And the cast is ably
rounded out with Dream Theater's John Myung on bass and Cairo's Mark
    Robertson on keyboards.
    soundbite - <http://www.artist-shop.com/magna/mammoth.ram>

Available now from Jordan Rudess <http://www.artist-shop.com/keywiz>
    Jordan Rudess/4NYC ....CD
4NYC is a Jordan Rudess album of solo improvisations - acoustic and
electronic, before a live audience and in the studio. The live tracks were
taken from a benefit concert to raise money for the American Red Cross in
response to the tragedy of September 11. Jordan performs on a fantastic 9
foot Steinway Grand as well as a Kurzweil 2600 and a Korg Karma. A portion
of the proceeds from sales of this CD will be sent to charitable
organizations in memory of the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

    Hi all,
Follow me and my great IDEA =>

    All of us YTSEJAMAJESTYoids :
    1) Leave our day jobs
    2) Put all our money together
        + rob a few banks
+ sell roses in the streets
+ sell our body parts (extra kidney, lung ect...)
    3) Start-up a new omni-potent, omni-present TV rock/metal/prog station
The real stuff, and call it FullTV (FTV) ;)

No overkill on the profits, just comfortable saleries.
In any way we would be doing what we like best => hearing the best music in
    the world.

The rules would be simple :
    1) Anything that passes on eMTyV doesn't pass on FullTV.
        Only kick-ass rock/metal/prog music.
    2) Mandatory orgies every morning.
    3) The music on the TV channel is played at the same time in the offices.
    4) Mandatory orgies every noon.
    5) 50:50 male:female so as to keep the balance (hehe)
    6) Mandatory orgies every evening.

    Send me your money,
    Follow me to work paradise,
A carbon based life form. ;)

    PS : Checks aren't accepted.
            Cash is the best.

The phrase I heard was "most-watched TV program in syndication." In
any event, the show definitely pulled HUGE numbers.

Now, if only they could identify all the people who visit Ozzy at his
"crib"...thinking of a certain friend and lead-singer who was on the
show, more than once, but never actually MENTIONED anywhere :(
