    Hi all,

All of this talk 'bout female vocals got me in a mood to find a new
female-leaded metal band to listen to.

Yes. I, too, find this genre "The kryptonite of my CD collection"...

I would appreciate some recommendations for bands that sound like early
Theatre of Tragedy or Mandylion/Nighttime Birds -era Gathering, or Opera
vocals like nightwish (although I find the soothing vocals of Anneke &
Liv much more appropriate in metal than Opera vocals - they always sound
    a little snobbish to me...)

    Cheers,
            Shai

Yeah, I'm kind of ambivalent about NOT attending this years event myself (I attended the premier event in Chicago, and last years, and both were great). My funds took a big hit from the recent relocation and a sagging economy hindering my profession, so that precludes me from attending, which I'm already regreting, but logic and pragmatic decisions dictate otherwise. Whomever is attending from this list will have an earfull of phatflyfreshdope prog bands to listen to all weekend, culminating with a nice Lou Rawls or Barry Manilow rock block on the trip home...

Anyhow, this year's has a stellar line up of bands, I would agree. Minus FW and/or Engine, of course....

Aris, in regards to Kevin Moore's new demo's, I haven't had the pleasure of hearing them yet (then again, I've not picked up his last CK CD, either, but DafR was great), but feel free to check out my AMBIENT EARTH and VIRTUALITY CD;s (link below)... sorry for the self-pr plug!

You've got to check into EdenBridge. Excellent female vocals with melodic
metal background. I can't remember the band URL but I'm sure it's a .com,
    .net, or .org.
