Actually, I just use Quicktime 5. Easy, cross platform, tastes great, less filling. Of course, being a
Mac guy, the majority of these so-called 'Napster alternatives' are platform specific, or the support for
what little software they issue have to many caveats for any applicable use. I've eliminated my MP3
downloads alltogether (although I was never a fanatical user of Napster, etc to begin with), except for
the rare occassion when I need to hear some new songs from a new band or CD. Hopefully, then, the
band/musician has the foresight and wherewithal to avoid posting Real Media clips, and use MP3, which is
much prefered. Hate those damn streaming clips.

Those are all decent players, but not necessarily the best ways to
obtain music. If you're looking for a good means to get mp3s, one of
the best ones that I've encountered is AudioGalaxy Satellite, available
at www.audiogalaxy.com. Another good way to find music is CDnow and
    Amazon ;)

If you were to pick out of the three however, I'd recommend Winamp.

I think it is... Register mentions it too:

I still think that AudioGalaxy is the way to go - I've been able to
find close to everything that I wasn't able to purchase (including
stuff that's too expensive because it's on import). Morpheus has never
    worked well for me.

Mp3's are not evil. They are one of the best things since sliced bread.

Easiest way to download MP3's might be www.audiogalaxy.com Free.
great program, easy to setup, and answer NO to the additional program it
    asks you to install.

Best program to PLAY mp3's will be WinAmp. Free. www.winamp.com

    greetings again jammers,
well, i really appreciate all the advice that everyone dished out
about the mp3's, and i wound up going the way of audiogalaxy. however,
for those of you that use this quite wonderful program, i have a question
for you all now. after i signed up, set up my shared folder, etc etc....
i then went into my song database through MusicMatch Jukebox, and i
noticed that all of the albums that i had saved in my database had
mysteriously doubled. looking further, it was each individual track that
was appearing twice, doubling the time/length of each album. why all of a
sudden do i now see two of everything, especially since in Windows
Explorer, it doesn't show that i have more than just one of each song??
what the hell happened?? thanks a bunch.

                                            -eric
