     DOH!

While attempting to order DT tix on-line, I fell asleep. The next thing I
knew, I was traveling through some unknown galaxy on a strange starship
headed to some far-way alien world! They were nice enough to let me plug my
discman into their bitchin' spaceship stereo system (since it was going to
be a long journey). But after only a couple of hours of me playing DT CDs at
insane volume levels, they realized that all of the other humans were
crying, complaining, and covering there ears. They must have realized that I
was not a valid representative of the human species and decided that I was
not a good candidate for whatever it was they had in mind for us. Since
they needed a replacement human guinea pig, I suggested we swing by a Creed
concert where perfectly average humans were sure to be in great supply.
They appreciated my assisstance and returned me home. Since we were
traveling at near light speed almost a month has gone by, anow DT tix for
the 930 club are sold out!

Those freakin' aliens really screwed me over!

If anyone with an extra ticket has any sympathy for me and my tragic story,
please, please contact me privately. Thanks and thank God for OFB.

    Ivan

Hmm, I'd say it's pretty good, but I don't think it's their best.....

    A couple quick reviews-

    Reptilian-Castle of Yesterday
If you like neo-classical prog-metal keyboards you will love this like I
    do.

    Warmen-Beyond Abilities
A solo cd from the keyboard player of Children of Boden-
very good keyboard oriented songs with guest vocals by the
guy from Stratovarius and the girl from Sinergy.

    Ring of Fire-The Oracle
Kick ass with Vitalij Kuprij(Artension), George Bellas, Virgil
    Donati(Planet X)
    and Mark Boals(Yngwie Malmsteen)

    Artension-Sacred Ground
Haven't listened to it yet, but Vitalij is on it, so it must kick ass.
(Have you figured out I like keyboards, yet?)

    ACT-Imaginery Freinds
I love both thier cds. Not so much prog-metal as prog-pop.

    Pain of Salvation-Remedy Lane
Very good, but I think I like the last one better, your milage may vary.

Some more I haven't had time to listen to:
    Rhapsody-Rain of a Thousand Flames
    Ian Parry-Shadowman
    Royal Hunt-The Watchers
    Timo Tolkki(Stratovarious)-Hymn to Life

and in the "Whatever happened to.." catagory-
    Giant-III
    Honeymoon Suite-Lemon Tongue

    Trevor
Hey I'd like to meet some people at the DC show. I'll be bald and

I'll be flying up from Atlanta for these two shows and was wondering if
any other of the (few, the proud, the) remaining Ytsejammers will be
there? I'm gathering info and have put up a webpage with fans' info
for those who are going to the shows, since there are a lot of fans
flying or travelling in for them.

The page URL is http://home.attbi.com/~pellaz/dt-chi.html, and if you're
attending and would like to be listed, just send me in email the same
information that's in the table on the page. :)

It should be a lot of fun meeting people.... Some of the names already
listed are current or former Ytsejammers. :)

This is LONG, but interesting and descriptive. Be warned dudes!

There might be some spoilers for some. I'm givin' away setlists (nothing new anyway) and some other stuff.

Well, it's been a busy week! This past saturday a Billy Sheehan clinic was held here, and it was great and hilarious. I was laughing all the way as Billy was joking around all the time, not to mention some of the stupid questions we all had to put up with...BUT Billy did play some cool stuff, like the intro of VH's Mean Streets. Now THAT was MAD!!! Not bad for a dude who has 34 years of experience under his belt. Damn, i feel like a kiddie now! 2 days later, John Myung would be there, but just signing autographs.

Anyway, as promised, to the MAIN topic. DT's concert in my town. This was my 4th, (FII, 2 SFaM, and this one), and let me tell you guys: It ROCKED! Now, i liked the sound better on this one than the sound at SFaM concerts i attended (maybe cuz i was just behind the mixing console), and i thought i saw the guys in better musical shape than on those 2 past concerts. HOWEVER, the setlist was shorter (i dunno why....it was supposed to be longer i thought, no 6DOiT...), and, well, diverse. For me, i liked more the past setlists on the whole than this one, except for a few gems they included this time. Sooo, here's the setlist (i managed to get a copy of it from the nice mixingboard guy). I transcribe...*asterisks are my writing*

Set#2 (Intro Tape) *SFaM ending* The Glass Prison 6:00------->DT (w/stop) Strange Deja Vu----->JR Surrounded Burning My Soul '96----->JP *Hell's kitchen in this version* Another Hand / The Killing Hand Misunderstood (Noise)------->DT *Lots of fuckin' noise indeed, JP wouldn't let ANYONE hear ANYTHING but his NOISE* Lie (Tool jam) *I don't recall any "Tool Jam"....maybe in TGD? :) * The Great Debate Peruvian Skies Pull Me Under (with Metallica?) *this annotation was scribbled over and "canceled" * ........THE END....... (Intro tape) *Home screams* Home---->JR The Spirit Carries On Take the Time (Working Man / By-Tor)

There you go folks. I read this BEFORE the concert, and i wasn't very much pleased, But then DT kicked my ass, and, before i knew it, i was screaming my lungs out to PMU for the N'th time! Not bad for a song i keep skipping when i put I&W on! The audience was singing all along on songs like PMU (duh!), 6:00, TSCO, TTT, SDV, buy DEFINITELY NOT to songs like AH/TKH (My favorite that night. Goddamn, was i the only one singin' that one?). When the audience sang, it sounded fuckin great! Even James told us "You're great, keep it up!!", so, you might as well expect that prop in the future.

The band was great, and they had some very funny moments. James was in great shape, and, wisely, backed off some of the very high notes in the I&W songs. Petrucci's sound was just slaughtering!!! Those heavy songs were kickin' some ass!!! I might like those Ernie Ball guitars after all, but on a weird note, JP was using a cable, instead of a wireless. Is he going retro?. Rudess had this rotating stand, so that was cool...not to see him stuck in one position. Myung was his usual very-serious-perpetual-motion-machine self. Portnoy was great, singin' at times, and bothering James when he didn't have to be back there. James was much more of a frontman now than on past concerts. Much more convincing. Hey, i even bought it! And Mike and JP ocassionally urged the crowd to clap, or shout or whatever. The "devil" hand sign was all around the place, yet, there was no pushing where i was standing. Nice crowd, i'm surprised, for they usually behave like fuckin' animals on mating season whenever they hear a heavy fast riff.

Near the end, for the encore they started with Home. They all came out dressed in these costumes. MP was the devil himself. JR was "the phantom". JM...well, JP tried to put his sombrero (don't you just love stereotypes?, really...i'm not being sarcastic here!) on his head, for there was another one lying around. But it didn't last for 5 seconds. Between all the cheers, JM headbanged the sombrero outta his head. Hey JM, it isn't a Versace sombrero, but it's something! Goddamn, this kid refiuses to play along! And James, HAHAHAH, he came out with this green dress. Outta his mind. Then, apparently DT was gonna make a change in the middle of the song (they sped up the song..) but James didn't catch up at first. It sounded hilarious! The chipmunks, but no high pitches.....just sped up!

The lighting was great. It really shined in this venue, sold out some time before the date. 2500 people i think. They oversold the venue if you ask me. The line outside was just NUTS. Of course, i skipped some classes (well, i MOVED them!) so i could go to the hotel they were staying in, and snatch some photos and/or autographs. I came late for JP. DAMN. Well, i took photos with JM, JL and JR. Labrie was excepcionally patient, as he signed away entire collections of DT booklets! He signed a photo i had taken with him back in 98....and the i took a photo with him, holding that autographed photo! Pretty cool, huh? I intended to do the same with MP, but he was in a hurry for an interview.

This has gone too long...last thing: in the end of TTT, they played these Rush songs....and JP / JR had this bitchin' solo tradeoff with the band backing them. Now, i found that much more enjoyable than the solos they were getting accustomed to taking. Oh, yeah, they played that cool Russian-vibe song sometime in the night. Fun Fun Fun.

I bother you no more guys. I 'm very lazy to post this on the MP forum, so, please someone do it for me, cuz i don't even have an account!!!

    Mauricio
