Great! I can get a shirt that almost certainly won't fit me! (The
    world needs more XXL shirts....:))

    > Something else: If you already own our new album Ultima Ratio, I'd be

It's a strong contender for CD of the Year, for me. A triumphant
return to the style of BEHIND, lotsa awesome passages and really nice,
elaborate production! And female vox in parts! Nice packaging,
too, from Nothing To Say in France. It's a digipack, but not a really
    annoying one.

I suppose my opinion -could- be biased, since I'm thanked in the liner
    notes (thanks, Bernd!), BUT........

..I didn't actually notice that small insert-card until well after I'd
listened to the CD a few times and already decided "Wow! This -was-
worth the wait!" (That big-sized lyrics sheet -- almost a poster --
distracted me, and I honestly didn't think to hunt for the credits.)
So, last weekend I was working at the Georgia Rennaissance Festival and
a guy comes up to my booth, Starfire Swords; apparently he knew me from
    Progpower last year:
"Hey! I noticed you're in the liner notes for the new Superior CD!"
Oh, really? This was news to me.... So I went home, almost
overlooked the little insert-card AGAIN, found it.... Aha, I -am- in
there... But, I had already decided the CD ruled. :)

This is a good way to start controversy! :) If you want to try King's X their Best of CD is a decent cross-section of material. Now if you'd rather try out a full-length disc, I prefer older stuff like "Gretchen Goes To Nebraska" which I think is still their defining moment in time. Also try "Dogman", "Out of The Silent Planet" or even their latest "Manic Moonlight" which I think is their best SINCE "Dogman". With King's X there are really 2 periods, with Sam Taylor (pre-Dogman) and post-Sam Taylor.

I find that far-fetched. I didn't think he could write anything for anyone BUT AC/DC, unless it's a 3-chord power metal opera of FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK. Furthermore, is HE singing it? This could be humorous (and I enjoy some AC/DC). Maybe he's got Ricky Martin, Janet Reno & Luciano Pavarotti assisting him?

Steve Morse is very versatile and has a lot of solo stuff, with one release different from the next. And of course there's the Dixie. Basically anything that's not Deep Purple, I'd say (and even that's just my opinion).

yes, deffinetly check out Purpendicular, and also give the album "California Screamin'" a try. it's a live Dixie Dregs album, and is a terrific example of the jazzier, fusion side to Steve Morse.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but better burn out than not be heard. Morse's stuff with Deep Purple isn't very indicative of the wide array of sounds that he has to offer. Granted, Purpendicular was more Steve Morse featuring Deep Purple than anything else, but it doesn't do Morse justice and it isn't the greatest of Deep Purple either.

Instead, do yourself a favor and check out High Tension Wires and Introduction (Steve Morse Band). Possibly two of the best albums you'll ever hear.

No flame - I completely agree. Some of his style shows through in Deep Purple, but his solo material is, obviously, all Morse. Try "High Tension Wires" or the Dregs' "What If."

It's actually a ballet, not an opera, so there ain't vox. (Good thing for Johnson! He's a pro at what he does, but opera may be a stretch...)

no flames forthcoming here. true, Purpendicular isn't the best for either Morse or Purple, but is the best that the two combined were able to muster. and yes, High Tension Wires IS possibly one of the best albums ever heard!! -eric
