I did manage to take in a viewing Sunday afternoon. Excellent movie. Never
listen to critics again. The dialog didn't bother me, nor did the love
scenes. That part has to be built up. It was handled just fine. How about
    that white uniform? ;)

    Thumbs UP on Episode II.

Actually, there *are* differences bewtween the Brainchild "Mindwarp" release
and the Circle of Dust "Brainchild" release. (Klay) Scott Albert remixed
and re-recorded parts of the album for the second release, specifically the
tracks "Deviate", "Telltale Crime", and "Prayers of a Dead Man." IMHO it's
most evident in "Deviate" - the structure of song is pretty different
    between the two versions.

Scott worked and was good friends with my old drummer back in the day, so I
got to know him fairly well - he's a great guy, an extremely talanted
musician (he started out as a thrash drummer in the 80's before turning to
guitar and electronics) who never got the financial and critical success he
deserved. If you can find it, pick up the "Argyle Park" CD that was "his"
project under various pseudonyms - an album *years* ahead of its time.

it was a good movie, far better than Episode I...
but the dialog was pretty bad. George Lucas has
*always* written bad dialog... look at the first
3 films, for a great example. but it doesn't ruin
    the movie.

Yeah, I concur. Saw it Sunday evening. They brought back some
of the alien languages, so hopefully they'll do that more in
Episode III - I was most pleased with that aspect of the movie.
The acting wasn't really bad - it was more along the lines of a
bunch of actors going like "Oh shit, we gotta make a STAR WARS
film! What do we do?" They pulled it off quite well, all
things considered. The love scenes seemed awkward, just as they
would be if the characters were real - so I don't think that's
    even a problem.

The cartoonishness of Episode I seemed to abate as well, which
is a welcome change. The scenes of Coruscant are incredible.
The references to Episodes IV-VI were very well placed,
including Kenobi saying "Anakin, you're going to be the death of
me." And, of course, the end sequence (all of it) was a real
treat. Everyone in the theater, including me and my party, were
    applauding through the end credits.

What was most impressive is the plot development. I think Lucas
did an incredible job of developing the story that is to lead
into the original trilogy. Can't wait for Episode III, that's
going to be awesome. Never will I doubt Lucas again.

i agree that it was ahead of its time... but it
wasn't just him (Scott Albert)... it was more of a
collaboration between he, Buka, Deathwish, Dred,
Klank, Marc Soloman, the guys from Mortal/Fold
    Zandura, etc...

i've met both Buka and Dred, and I know that they
    aren't pseudonyms of Scott's... they're real people...

Argyle Park _Misguided_ is a great CD... the second
Argyle disc... under the moniker AP2 wasn't as good...
it's more of Buka and Dan Levler's project... i think
Celldweller (Scott) had some production credits on
a few songs, but he pretty much wasn't on it much...

ah, the mystery of Scott Albert.

    Hi all,

    Since we're a music-related mailing list, I thought I'll point out a few
of the musically brilliant things I found out in Eps II:

    1) First of all, John Williams is simply a genius. No doubt.
    2) It is well-known that Star Wars has 3 main musical themes: the main
theme, the Empire theme (the most known one) and the Jedi theme (more
common in Return of the Jedi); throughout Eps II I caught glimpses of
those themes. What was really cool to me is that every time Anakin has
done something bad that leads him more towards the dark side, a little
bit of the Empire theme appears. At first, it was just a few notes, and
as the movie developed, the appearances became longer, and in the ending
sequence, the whole glory of the Empire theme bursts! I was near
    tears...

May the force be with you :-)

Yes, this was very cool. Lets not forget the Duel of Fates piece during the
speeder bike scene, though. Its a very symbolic thing as you can imagine
the mental turmoil throughout the ride. And this being just before a major
    turning point was well placed.

and if you can't get a hold of the entire CD, then i would recommend at
least trying to get find online the song "Misanthrope 5:33" from the
Argyle Park disc. probably one of, if not THE best song on the album.

oh yeah, and that "other" industrial band i was thinking of but couldn't
name: Global Wave System, and thier album "Life Equals Death". very
heavy, but very good. NOT Scott Albert related, though. Anyone else
who's familiar with Circle of Dust feel that his most complete & polished
work as C.o.D. was the 3rd & final album "Dissengage"?? absolutely
INCREDIBLE stuff. just my opinion though. anyone???

aahhhhhh, Mortal...... what a wonderful & ever-surprising band they were. their best is a combination of both "Fathom" & "Pura" albums. both at opposite ends of the spectrum of what Mortal accomplished, but both at the top of their form. the stuff they did as Fold Zandura is decent, but just isn't as top rate as Mortal. the F.Z. stuff holds up real well live (seen `em twice), but not as grabbing as Mortal was. oh well, can't win them all. -eric
