Hey Jammers,
After reading posts from the last jam pertaining to Mulholland
drive I turned on the TV to see a car chase on one of those police video
shows. It was a Mercedes being chased on Mulholland drive WEIRD.
A strange movie ....yes Dead Again and Lost Highway very strange,
but has anyone seen a film called Soul Survivors ? Several viewings and
I stilll don't quite get it.

I envy you; I've seen them only once so far, and that was when they
opened for Nevermore. Here in Atlanta, they kicked the headliners'
asses. :)

The only complaint I've ever heard about Opeth is that they don't have
much stage-presence, don't move around, etc. I don't share that
opinion; I thought they were terrific live and the rest of the audience
here did, too...to the point where, when Jim Sheppard (of Nevermore) was
comparing shows after the gig, he said Atlanta had had the largest
number of people leaving after Opeth's set, or during their headlining
set.

Oh, well; no "Bleak." Still a great setlist, and of course, a long one
despite a low number of songs played.
We tried to get Opeth as a performing band at Progpower USA III here in
November, but although the band liked the idea, their management just
couldn't pull the trigger. I was all set to co-sponsor their
appearance. (Besides, I'd have had a second chance to supply Mikael
Akerfeldt with much-desired Ozric Tentacles CDs for his growing
collection. :))
Oh, well. Instead we had to "settle" for Devin Townsend. :)
I can't wait for Opeth's 2-CD release toward the end of the year, and
their subsequent tour. (They'd BETTER tour over here. :)) They are
almost singlehandedly defining a 'crossover zone' between extreme metal
and prog-metal.

There are several bootleg recordings of the G3 material around. Official release? Only time will tell.

Dead Again is one of my favorite movies. I've watched it many times and picked up something new each time. The writing and acting are excellent and the editing of the film is very concise, giving just enough background for understanding without lingering.
