Does anybody have any idea when they're going to release more tour dates,
and when the tickets will be available through dreamtheater.net? There are
only a couple dates available and the only place to get them is
Ticketmaster, which is typically alotted a less-than-perfect block of
    tickets to sell.

Critics hated Star Wars as well. Did that affect the movie going

just want to be the first that hate a movie. Whether it is good or not.

Everything I have heard about the movie from actual fans of the series says
that it is great and fans will not be disappointed. Critics never like
action oriented, special effects, sci fi movies. If you look over the past
ten years I would guess that the number one money making movie of the year
was almost always something critics didn't like.

Well, let's face it: Episode I wasn't all that great. I mean,
between the animation that made it look like a cartoon to the
comic relief of the Jamaican race (forgot what they're called -
Ganjas or something), and everything in-between, it just didn't
have a Star Wars mood. I'd say it sold out, like many great
things do sooner or later. I don't have too many great
    expectations for AotC.

But, of course, I'm not going to let some critic's opinion (or
childish game, if you will) stop me from going to see the movie.
I mean, it's not going to be the original Star Wars, as it will
integrate as much pop culture into itself as possible, but it's
George Lucas, so how bad could it possibly be?

Anyway, my two cents on that. (Sorry, I've been away, so I'm
catching up on my jamming here)

    - Ilia.

I was in Best Buy picking up the new Rush and saw a cd by a band
called Deadsy for $6.99. I had heard a little about them so at seven
bones, what the heck. They are kinka gothy/rocky/80's new-wavey
which seem like a weird combination but it works for me. Also,
interestingly and suprisingly they cover Rush's Tom Saywer.
The main singer/songwriter is Elijah Blue, son of Cher and Greg Allman.
A quick trip to www.deadsy.com found this:

"..in my younger years I was pretty much just straight metal,
and a little bit of industrial, new wave metal."
The metal background is still present...but there are absolutely others
-Bowie is a big influence for me, and King Crimson, Keith Emerson
    and '70s prog."

    So there you go.

i rememebr back in 1995 or 1996, someone from the
ytsejam made some *awesome* 2x2" vinyl DT stickers.
they were the blue and white (possibly light traces
    of yellow).

    some questions:
     1) is that person still on the list?
-if not, does someone know of their email addy?
     2) are those stickers still available?
      -and-
     3) does anyone know of a good supplier to make said
       excellent-quality stickers?

they last upwards of 4-5 years on a car with no sign
of wear... i had one on my car for ages... bought
some more for a new car...

i'm thinking about designing one for another band
(Over the Rhine), and would like to know how to get
them at or near the same quality as the DT/ytsejam
    ones...

    thanks,

I remember those. I had one that was like Yellow/Gold/Orange or something

Those stickers kick ass. I still have a small stash that I dip into
only rarely. I think I ordered 5 of them in 1996 and the guy sent me
like 15 of them. I guess people weren't ordering them and he just
wanted to get rid of them. Sadly, I do not have his contact info
anymore (well... I might, but it would be buried on an old hard drive
somewhere). I'll have a look around some time soon.

well, not very good, since i'm planning on a 6 hour trip especially to

Nope. Critics tend to dislike Lucas nowadays for various reasons (he's
a "grave disturbance in Hollywood," not really a team player, not a
union man, etc.) The Atlanta Constitution gave it a C+ or a C-, which
generally means I'll like the film.

    > I hope they're wrong. I guess the postings over the next week will tell
    > us more.

They're wrong; I just got home from seeing it and it's not an awful
film. It -is- better than Phantom Menace. As I feared, some of the
acting was pretty darn lousy (some of the Amidala/Anakin scenes were
painful), I'd have scripted a few things a lot differently, and there
was one fairly odd placement of a musical crescendo that just didn't
seem to "fit." (This is quite rare for a Lucas film, imho.)

But, the battle scene at the end, unsullied by any stupid Jar-Jar antics
(he confines himself to -political- stupidity, this time), is worth the
price of admission alone. The visuals are almost always breathtaking
and there -is- some good acting, too.

I proudly wore my DT shirt, but didn't quite make it on TV after the
show let out at 3am. :)

    ***Slight Spoilers***

I just got back from seeing Star Wars and while I am very critical, I must say that this film was fantastic!!! Great action and a very engaging film. There were some weak spots - acting and cheesy lines, some of the story seemed to be rushed, beginning dragged some and the ending definitely needed some work. But I will go to see this film again next week and I can't wait for the DVD. In about 2 1/2 years. :-(
