Ok, I fall into "leach but with bandwidth to share" ... at least I think
    so.

I don't have any real original, hard to find material, just things anyone
could have downloaded from LiTS or various ftp sites and the 2 CDs of mp3s
from Scarred Records but .... I would be willing to share any of it or host
someone else's content to be part of the DC'jam and get access to other
    content.

I am on roadrunner ... anyone know if I have a max upload/download quota?
I have never run into it with Napster, Kazaa, AudioGalaxy etc but I am not
a power user in terms of quantities of downloads.

While it's no fun to have leaches, the cool thing about the Ytsejam
DC hub would be that even if most people shared only those files which they
found on the Ytsejam DC hub, we still benefit. We benefit because we'll
be able to choose from more places to download rather than having it
available from only a single ftp site which quickly becomes overloaded.
The whole point of the hub is to spread the load across multiple machines
so having everyone share the same files is OK. Plus, using a password
should reduce the number of leaches who just hop on, suck files, then
    hop off.

    Hey everyone,

Hopefully this goes through (was previously having trouble posting), so this
    will end my /lurk

I am very interested in starting a Ytsejam DC hub (though I'm just now
finding out how the system works). I have a very good connection, so I'm
going to investigate it and get back to you guys if its a success.

My goal is to share more than just DT stuff, though that will obviously be a
    start.

Give me a few days to explore the system, and I'll get back to you.

One thing about Direct Connect. I don't think it
matters what speed the hub is connected at, just that
it is running. Download speeds depend on the
connection of the person you are downloading from.

The one problem that I had with my hub was that I
couldn't keep it running all the time.

    Take care,
    Adam Perkowsky

There are two types of leaches. First, there are those that come in
without any content to share. But like you said, once they download it,
then they add to the pool of places for the rest of us to draw from,
that's good. There is another type of leach, those that just take, but
are unwilling to give back. I've watched people download things from
me, then disconnect, never to be seen again. A lot of people fire up
P2P clients just long enough to download what they are looking for, then
they shut it down. Those types of people are of no use to us, and I
think you'll find there will be quite a few people like that. Having
someone max out your uploads does effect your downloads.

With all that said, I still think it's a good idea.

Hi! Could somebody please tell me what's the difference between the limited edition and the regular edition of Symphony X's new cd? Thanks!

I have the limited edition sitting here at my desk this morning. It has a
bonus track "Masquerade" which is from the first Symphony X CD, with Russell
Allen on vocals. Much stronger version. Also, the booklet inside the CD
is much more detailed with extras.
Trust me, it's well worth the extra dollar.
Visit http://www.metalages.com to order the limited edition at a much
    reduced price.

The majority of people that use the service will not have access to new
material. That is granted with running a server. Still, that is getting
    material out to the audience.

Yeah, leaches are a big problem. I ran my own DC
server for a while, but became discouraged because
everyone was taking, but nobody was sharing anything
other than what they downloaded from me.

    Take care,
